  1. I coulda posted this in the trucks nuts thread but it's Tacoma-specific so might get more traffic here... We're starting to look at cars for my soon to be 16yo son and he's mostly been interested in the sportier cars-- Toyota GR86, Mustangs, Camaros. But lately he's really keen on the idea of a pickup, and specifically the Tacoma. I don't know much about them, but I can see the various trim packages. He's most likely going to want the one that looks the coolest, but I'm interested in the various engine options. We'd be looking at 2020 or newer, and it looks like the engine options are a 2.7L 4-cylinder or a 3.5L 6-cylinder? Any thoughts on them? He doesn't need to be racing this thing and won't be towing anything. He might want to haul some stuff in the bed but nothing really heavy. Is the 4-cylinder okay or for general use, or is it under-powered? I don't really have a preference but for me, safety is the main concern. I've driven some under-powered cars that make them difficult to merge onto freeways at speed, that's the type of thing I want to make sure it has the power to do. Open for thoughts and ideas on the matter.

    Tacos

Yeah I made the mistake of looking at the address and assuming it was a local taqueria type place. In other totally unrelated news, I'm about 15-20 years behind in following Austin's development and gentrification...

    Tacos

Ah well, okay then. Consider my strange upper/lower case typing in mockery retracted. Anyway, I'm still down to try some tasty barbacoa. Even if it's $6.50.
  4. Plus, you know... this:
  5. Our Handy Andy was at Anderson and Rockwood next to the Village, and our Winn's was over at Burnet/Anderson lane in the strip center next to original Dart Bowl. Played a lot of Asteroids and then Star Wars at that Handy Andy, when I couldn't manage to get over to the Gold Mine in Northcross Mall.
  6. Holy shit, exact same thing as yesterday. Just completely evaporating once it hits 360.

  8. I sure hope it's not the same result as yesterday, where nobody west of 360 got shit-- including the lakes.
  9. Goes all the way back to this asshole...
  10. Probably not long before a robotaxi ends up at the bottom of Town Lake.
  11. Absolutely zero rain here in NW Travis County. A solid line of red and yellow coming up from the SE for an hour, and then just vanished when it hit the Lake Travis recharge zone. Womp womp.
  12. Joke's on them, Russia has plenty of mine sweepers to detect and neutralize any such mines. These sophisticated personnel are also referred to as "vatniks on mopeds."
  13. Jaws night was awesome. Our kids invited over some friends, and we had about 20 kids in the pool and hot tub watching the movie, after annihilating 13 lbs of brisket and 3 racks of pork spareribs. We also had a few of our adult friends, including our new next door neighbors who brought over a bottle of Japanese single malt 12 year, that I later found out was like $180. It was delicious and we destroyed it within about 45 minutes.
  14. In theory, sure, but I assume there's some sort of containment around the radioactive, corrosive, and chemotoxic material.
  15. Wow, that's even worse than playing the Armada Room at the Holiday Inn...
  16. And Lee Person playing the 311, too. What a great time to be around.
  17. I think imma and wulaw should take the RV up for this one.
  18. His show a month ago at Antone's was definitely rock/blues Ian Moore. He played some newer stuff I didn't know, but I wouldn't classify any of it as precious.
  19. Yeah he's finally released his first album on vinyl and we bought a copy of it and had him autograph it that night at Antone's, dedicated to our 17yo daughter who has become a huge Ian Moore fan in recent years. She couldn't go to that show because she's underage but I think we'll plan on taking her to this one, plus it's free!
  20. I've never done this series, looks cool though. We saw Ian Moore a few weeks ago at Antone's, he was just as good as ever.
