  1. Heh, I just re-read through this thread and if you go back to 2020, you had the exact same response when I mentioned Play Deep. I'm not dragging you, because I completely agree, that's a cool-ass track. Recently (like, within the last 5 years) I heard some cover of it that was really good, but I don't remember who did it. Google search didn't turn up the one I remember, though it turned up several.
  2. Blind Mellon would like to have a word with both of you. That show sucked, but with the 2.5 solid days of rain, that weekend was already such a beating. I was just glad I'd bought the tickets for the race weekend itself and didn't consider the concert as part of my cash outlay, otherwise I'd have been REALLY pissed.
  3. Well, I can't say it's surprising this thread hasn't been posted on in almost 2 years... But anyway, my Liverpool-loving nephew invited me to watch Sunday's match with him over at BD Riley's, knowing that I didn't know it was a Liverpool bar. Joke's on him though, the hapless Red Devils tied his golderned pudlians, and ruined his big plan to drag me in front of his whole crew.
  4. Man I am feeling so much better about this game, now. All we need is a "ballgame" proclamation and I'll go bet the house on the Horns.
  5. Freedmen's. It was actually quite good, I had it many many tiers higher than Mickelthwait which was quite disappointing the 2 times I gave them a chance. Their messed up ordering system resulted in extremely long waits, for cold food. It was bizarre and I never went back.
  6. A friend of mine brought me back a set of these from Russia many years ago. The largest one was Hodges Mitchell, the smallest was Casey Hampton.
  7. Good question. If this were like a normal bowl they'd be there almost a week ahead of time for all of the press and photo ops and trips to whatever the Dallas version of Disneyland is. But since this is the third round of CFP games, I don't know how they're managing it.
  8. 4 quarters of our offense scoring at least 2 TDs per quarter, while the defense allows no more than 1.5 points per quarter. Final score no closer than 56-6. Obviously.
  9. Could it end up being that flying in from the midwest ends up easier than driving in from Austin, Houston, and other parts of Texas?
  10. Michigan State will never be a more important football program than Michigan. UCLA will never be a more important football program than USC. Auburn will never be a more important football program than Alabama. This is the nature of being a little brother to a blueblood. It will never change.
  11. I think the graphic was supposed to represent the divide between Texas and Oklahoma, not where the game is played.
  12. Queso on CFS is delicious.
  13. @HenryJames must be on a 4-day bender as a result of the Peach Bowl...
  14. They tried to open an Underwood's in Austin 40 years ago. It didn't take.
  15. Terrible play call there, way too deep and slow.
  16. Texas already beat the champs, in their own house. And Ohio State didn't, in their own house.
  17. So dumb
  18. This is what we could have and would have done to Gunner Stockton if we'd had any time to prepare. Should have done it anyway but we have second half brain disease for some reason.
  19. It's crazy, for some reason my wife really loves F1 too. But mostly the interviews, and DtS. She only seems to tolerate the races on Sunday mornings.
  20. That's too bad. COTA seems like it sucks.
  21. We're home for one day today after camping in Fredericksburg on my BIL's property for Christmas, but before going back out camping with a big group of friends in Georgetown for the next week. So I'm making a big batch of Texas Red whilst watching the Cowboys game, with intent to consume on New Year's Day, watching the Horns beat the hell out of ASU, when it should be nice and chilly all day. Thinking back over some discussion a few pages back about the steeping water being bitter, which has never been my experience, and I realized that something I always do but don't really think about-- I always stem and de-seed the dried chile peppers before they go into the oven for toasting, and thus before the chiles go into the steeping water. Another point is, I don't ever boil the dried chile peppers, just use hot water. I think either of those things, either steeping with the seeds and veins and stems in, or boiling the peppers, can result in bitter water. But as it is, if anything my steeping water always turns out a little sweet, most likely from the anchos in the blend. Anyway, just something I thought about as I was doing it and thought I'd post it up here in case it might help someone, when doing the rehydrated chile method.
  22. Relax. TX-OU will never go to Jerry World. If it ever leaves the Cotton Bowl, it'll go home-and-home. But the current contract with the Cotton Bowl is through 2036 so the immediate future is secure.
