  1. I'm just saying if you shift all that rain that hit the Llano down onto the Ped, then we'd probably be talking about a 10-foot rise, not a 5-foot rise. It's not a direct correlation, there are all sorts of losses along the way, when it has to go an extra 50 plus miles and through multiple dams.
  2. It was just over 634 as recently as 3 days ago. All of this movement is very recent. And it's true that the recharge zones for everything below Buchanan, including the Llano, technically feed into Lake Travis eventually, but there's still a good chunk of that water that's diverted, absorbed, evaporated, or for whatever other reason just doesn't ever quite make it. Direct hits on the Ped and all tributaries within the official Lake Travis basin are the much more direct and efficient ways to recharge LT. But yeah, all that rain out west is still helping. If we could get another hit like that in the same areas, with the ground already saturated, then we'd be talking about a major event that could raise the lake level significantly.
  3. Where's your place in Waco? Just curious.
  4. I was gonna go with "throw a coke on 'em" but I'm open to alternatives.
  5. Agreed, and it's not unlike the "rudeness" of Japanese tourists when it comes to behaviors like rushing onto elevators and crowding for space, because in many of their home cities, space is a much higher premium than it is throughout the USA. Even so, "rudeness" is defined by the host culture. And if "ugly American" tourists are to be called out in other countries for not conforming to the local standards of etiquette, then the opposite is no less legitimate when it comes to visitors to our country.
  6. Oh noes! The lake is so low we're stuck on a sandbar with no way to get to shore! I guess we'll all have to huddle together tonight for warmth...
  7. Well thank goodness they cleared that up for us. No floodgates will be open for Lake Travis as it rises from its current 46 feet below full, to a potential 41 feet below full. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.
  8. Yeah, like, bar-top epoxy and resin clear-coat? I had a nice piece of live edge black walnut that I coated and then turned into my dining room light fixture. I think I posted some pics at the old joint.

    RIP Chuy's

Fajitas are pretty popular around the nation as well.
  10. Except in this case imagine, you know, it raining everywhere EXCEPT on top of brisket/Eeyore.
  11. I oil mine and season it maybe once per year. It originally had a painted interior but that burned off after a few years, and I did not want to repaint it. I feel a lot better without the chemicals in there.
  12. I thought he and Guenther were content to just retreat to the hills of northern Italy and make wine!?!
  13. At least for us, their most recent victory was in 1928 or so. UNC basketball, on the other hand-- there's some fairly recent trauma mixed in there.
  14. Opening with a decent Miami team is tough, but at least they get two cupcakes in a row after that.

  16. It's never going to stop raining.
  17. It was an obvious dive-bomb with zero chance of success unless the other driver changes everything in order to avoid your dumb ass. A textbook Max dick move and he and Lewis are both lucky they somehow touched tire to tire, or that collision would have been far worse. Sounds like Lewis called it a racing incident simply because somehow the idiot stewards didn't come into it saying it was entirely Max's fault-- which it was. I guess he figured his best defense was just saying "racing incident" so he didn't get blamed for Max's fuckup. You could hear that idiot getting more frustrated and angry on the radio throughout the race, and it was obvious to me that he was about to do something really dangerous. After he smashed into Lewis I would have black-flagged his ass and told him he was done for the day.

Living in Mexico made you insufferable about American attempts at an American style of food named Tex-Mex? That's... weird.
  19. 1.33" and counting in NW Travis. Sweet beautiful rain.
  20. Stiles Switch in Cedar Park is good. Better and much more consistent than their N. Lamar location IMO.
  21. We've been saying it all along:

    Pizza

Conan's still my absolute favorite pizza in Austin. Long live the Savage on Whole Wheat!
  23. I had a personal system that got bricked by bitlocker when MS pushed an update to it, and it triggered the bitlocker into safety mode. Only problem was, I had no idea what bitlocker was, and had never actually activated it, so no key had ever been generated.
  24. So is Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 about to lose a sponsor?
