  1. Also helps pick out the anti-Plutites.
  2. Because they had nukes and we weren't sure whether or not the Russians loved their children too.
  3. Yeah the Ozzie V8s were absolutely the headliner that weekend.

Rooting for Ferrari is a lot like rooting for Texas football from 2010 - 2022.
  5. Double Whataburger with cheese +bacon, +grilled onions, +grilled jalapenos. As long as they actually cook the bacon, of course. No mayo, you can ignore Futureman on that, everyone else does.
  6. Just beat me to it. A boozy Arnold Palmer is a John Daly.

Thanks, appreciate it. I'm planning on smoking some yardbird tomorrow so I just wanted it taken care of, so I snagged some pecan from Academy. It wasn't cheap but hey, BBQ is now an expensive endeavor so what are you gonna do?
  8. Oh yeah I wasn't doubting you, just citing you. And yes they definitely ran the shorter course for the Ozzie V8s, and I definitely wished they'd run the full course. Having seen NASCAR run the full course, I think I'd be pretty disappointed in watching them run the abbreviated version.

That might work. I'll look for a closer option but beggars can't be choosers.

Argh, also looks like they only deliver and I'm "just a bit outside" of the delivery range.

Thanks. Yeah I run a large offset. It's my wedding dowry from my father in law. I guess I should specify I'm ideally looking in NW Austin/CP but for good deals I can certainly travel and just stock up.

Hey where are y'all getting smoking wood in Austin? I've gone to Harley's at Anderson Mill/183 for over a decade, but last time I was there a couple of months ago he said he was going to be closing up, and I think that's now done. Specifically I'm looking for pecan, but in general I guess I need to find a new source.
  13. Yup, so stupid that they've been running the whole track but only allow access to part of it. But I guess if, as @Bill Brasky says, they're running the shorter course this year, then restricting access to the long end of the track won't be as impactful.

Wranglers, KO2s, Nitto Ridge Grapplers-- I've had all three of those in recent years and been pleased with the balance of aggressive vs. quiet for all of them. But none of them are going to run like the Defender LTX. It really just ends up being a tradeoff and you have to decide what's most important to you.
  15. I did it once. I enjoyed hearing those cars around the track, they're quite loud. But the races themselves are an absolute beating. The "stage" racing is the worst invention since New Coke. But if you actually enjoy NASCAR racing then you'll probably like it.
  16. Ukraine was dressed skanky and deserved it.
  17. The Real Ale mix pack that have the Belgian quad, the Scotch heavy, and the Russian imperial stout, are pretty tasty.
  18. Wow that dude is pretty serious about his bean soup.
  19. Since this thread has inevitably devolved from "greatest tv theme songs" to "tv theme songs that make me nostalgic" I'll go ahead and throw this one out there-- it had me glued to the TV after school, I think it probably aired on one of the "new cable stations" either USA or WTBS. I watched it at a friend's house because at the time they had cable and we didn't. Theme song takes me way back.
  20. Yup. Don't care, got burrito.
  21. That one ag who said, "Completely unwarranted and delusional arguments said with such confidence" might not realize it, but he just entered a very strong contender for a new Surly motto...
  22. "Indian bread." I lived off those things during my junior and senior year in EE when I pretty much didn't leave campus from 7 AM til 10 PM every day.
  23. Pray for lightning.
