  1. When they were busy buying up the best class in history, they were all about the stars. Now, not so much. I wonder what has changed?
  2. Back on the other site I used to start a thread about brisket pricing every spring. The biggest sales always came just before the summer holidays-- Memorial, 4th, Labor. It was pretty common to see prices down at $.99/lb even as recently as 2016 or so. Like you, these days I think the lowest I see around Austin is that $1.96 price point, but I recall maybe some of the Houston folks posting Kroger ads for less than that.
  3. I volunteer on Monday nights so I haven't seen many (any?) of the CFP finals. Even if Texas had made it this year, I'd be recording and watching later. NFL playoffs are always at least mildly interesting to me. Don't much care about Daytona, but count me in for F1 season. Williams and Sauber F1 reveals are the first currently scheduled, for 2/5. Bring it on.

    Burgers

What'll it be for breakfast, boys? BBQ? Alright then, chili.
  5. Negatory on the ol' is there, Red Ryder
  6. Right. I'm terrified every time I set foot in College Station, but it has nothing to do with their athletics teams.
  7. biscuit dough is super easy to make, and tastes way better in the soup than canned.
  8. You click your heels 3 times and say "muledick."
  9. Ha! Well, this is the surl, so it's a pretty safe bet across the board. Now let's all get back to making fun of the anti-vaxers!
  10. This was your first post in this string. It's smart, it makes sense. It's not just about COVID, it's about any and every illness. I 100% agree with you. The highlighted part in red is still relevant. I agree, lots of people don't stay home when they feel sick. It's not just about COVID, it's about any and every illness. If you feel sick, stay home. Simple and clean message that should be driven home over and over again. It's completely unnecessary to conflate the "stay home if you're sick" message, with some idea about testing for a specific illness. The illness is irrelevant, you can harm others by spreading COVID or the flu or RSV. So if you're feeling symptoms of any of those, stay home. Simple message of basic health. The rest of that diatribe is on you. You're choosing to continue to carry around that cross, beat that horse, tilt at that windmill. Your aims would be better served by sticking with the simple health message.
  11. I'm a selfish dick for staying home and avoiding infecting people when I feel sick, without testing for COVID? How? Why? You're really way out there on this one. I think COVID melted a lot of people's brains. You were right on, when you said "If you're sick, stay home." It's simple and easy. You shoulda stuck with that part.
  12. I'm not quite sure which ledge you're on at the moment, or what the fuck you're talking about? If you're suggesting that people should test for COVID when they have no symptons at all-- well, no. That's just not going to happen. If you're suggesting that people should test for COVID when they have symptoms, why, specifically? If they're sick they should stay home regardless of what illness they might have. Flu kills a lot of people every year. RSV can be super-dangerous for people in high-risk groups including babies and the elderly. Are you suggesting people should test for COVID and if it's NOT, then they're fine to go out in public? Seems counter to your argument. It's easily simplified to "if you're sick stay home." You already said that once. Why would you argue against it now?
  13. I don't think you need to test for COVID (or anything else) to know that you're sick and need to stay home. If you feel bad, you have a fever, just stay home. No test necessary. That said, I don't believe that's the angle "Boss Hogg" was taking...
  14. Say what you want about Cobra, but at least they knew to mask up when in danger.
  15. Beer 2024 thread? I'm certainly not going to start it...
  16. Agree 100%. Like I said, it takes up a lot of room, but he still has room for a twin bed, dresser, and a crappy Ikea Expedit bookshelf thing.
  17. +2. We bought something like this for my 14yo son. It takes up a lot of room but I like it a lot better as a solution rather than lagging support pieces through a bunch of studs.
  18. There's a difference between saying "good brisket doesn't need sauce" and saying "any BBQ with sauce on it is bad." Regardless, I don't give a shit how anyone eats their BBQ. When I make brisket (or any other BBQ) I always make sauce available on the side.
  19. Yeah, van camping isn't really even camping, but it is spectacular. I mean, this is the RV thread, not the back-country solo trekking thread or whatever...
  20. We make 5-7 gallons of nog every year for our party. It's never enough.

Crown and Anchor plus Celis White imo
  22. Just more shit for @Nicole44 to throw into the lake.

    Burgers

Don't ask me why (on vacation + whiskey) but for some reason tonight I went back through this thread in its entirety and discovered @HenryJames only mentioned or responded to or pictured Hopfields five times since thread inception. He mentioned or pictured both the Crown and Dirty's probably 5x more. And Sour Duck got as many or more mentions-- deservedly so, that's a tasty burger. Anyway, the whole point is that I sit here in awe of the burger and fry work that HJ is putting in day after day. He's a real American hero and should have been featured on those old Budweiser commercials.
