  1. Oh don't sell them short, they were cheating before Urban Meyer showed up on campus.
  2. That book and that class were way better with Dr. Streetman himself teaching it, which I had. In fact it's why I ended up in semiconductor engineering for the first decade of my career.
  3. The gambling thread for degenerate morons is over there -------->
  4. Gleeson was awesome, I repeatedly wrecked the curve in his Honors Engineering Physics class with breathtaking scores like 28 and 35. The valedictorian of the LBJ Science Academy and the salutatorian of my own Anderson High graduating class were both my friends, and both in that class, and were not very appreciative of my accomplishments.
  5. Yeah. I gathered. I don't haunt Ferrari social media so unless/until one of you yahoos brought it here from somewhere else, I never would have seen it. Her name is Rey. THAT is the joke.
  6. Huh. Cause we stay away from the idiots on reddit, maybe? Anyway that's a new one on me. I still think in that meme, Rey Sweek is much funnier.
  7. Yeah our resident crazy person aside, I think most of the rest of us understand where you're coming from. Our school has also allowed the conference television money to screw us over on kickoff times on numerous occasions. It's not the fans' fault, we don't like it, and there's nothing we can do about it.
  8. My room was on the fourth floor, which was just the front part of the building, and my room faced that little back alley parking lot rather than 21st Street. To move this thread back on topic, I doubt either of my kids will be going to UT or staying in Moore Hill. My 17yo daughter will get in but just doesn't want to go to UT, she really dislikes downtown Austin and the campus area, having had a couple of unsettling run-ins with homeless dudes over the past couple of years in the downtown area. And my 15yo son is... well... not motivated enough, to get in, I suppose.
  9. I have a set of these that my NASA friend brought me back from Russia. My set is a little older, the second biggest is Hodges Mitchell, and the smallest is Casey Hampton.
  10. Probably not, actually. Texans are friendly by nature. We always had opposing fans dropping by our tailgates. For that one, we served over 200 plates of food and went through 20 kegs of Live Oak and 10 cases of Tito's. Tons of them were Ohio State fans.
  11. Oh yeah, I bought a used dorm fridge for $40 from a friend. My roommate had a microwave and a tiny black and white portable TV that we only ever used to watch The Simpsons and Beverly Hills 90210 on Thursday nights. So I spent $65 on stuff. All my own money, I worked summer jobs every year back then.
  12. I found tons of good stuff set just outside of dumpsters at the end of each semester, though of course the end of the spring semester had the best stuff with people moving back home for the summer. I moved myself into my room at Moore Hill, my parents didn't even consider accompanying me and that was fine. I spent maybe $25 on sheets and a comforter, I think I got them at Mervyn's. They had to be twin extra long, otherwise I would have just stripped the bed at home and taken that stuff to the dorm. Other than that all I had was a poster my parents gave me as motivation, and a Nagel print on the wall, that I brought from home. And of course my killer stereo system in the ubiquitous rolling rack with the glass door, and the glass top for the turntable. Oldsters will remember these well:
  13. City of Austin is going to run out of OTA antennas over the next 4 days...
  14. I've been to several non-Texas games there. It's always fun to watch them lose to teams they believe are beneath them. I've watched them lose to Iowa State, Texas Tech, Missouri, Oklahoma State. It's also funny to see the "best fans ever" only fill the stadium to 50% or 60% when they're not playing Texas or Alabama.
  15. WTH? Did AI come up with this? It's supposed to be Rey Sweek.
  16. Ha! When I was in school I stole one of those yellow metal UTPD signs and did the same thing.
  17. Oh yeah for sure, I wasn't commenting on any unfairness of scheduling the home-and-homes. Just the strange quirk of the schedule playing @Alabama, @Michigan, and @Ohio State three years in a row.
  18. Apologies if you mentioned upthread, but where was this?
  19. And it was @Alabama the year before that. But don't worry, Ohio State will be headed to Austin in 2026 and Michigan in 2027.
  20. Yeah I decided a couple of years ago that I prefer YTTV over trying to cobble together a few different streaming services and I'm not going to pirate anything because I'm an upstanding law-abiding citizen. I also like the multiview. My manservant just had to deal with settling for brisket instead of beef rib every day.
  21. "Seclude Picnic Place" is a lovely dream but a lame band name.
  22. Looks good. It's not an either/or thing for the rest of us. Enchiladas are fucking delicious. We'll have both.

    Tex Mex

Both my parents and my inlaws live close by and love it, we're there a couple times per month easy. It's so good.
  24. Holy shit Divining Rod even edited his post and still had numerous spelling errors.
