  1. I know the ags chickened out a couple of years ago, but at the time they blamed COVID which was pretty much a get out of jail free card. I'd be very surprised if they were allowed to do so again, it would be considered a breach of contract between the SEC and the bowl games, for them to opt out. The SEC already doesn't have enough bowl-eligible teams to fulfil its quota, I think it's highly unlikely they'd allow A&M to skip one again, and cost the conference money.
  2. Yeah it's definitely not the same with two teenagers, as it was at ages 4 and 6. On the bright side, I don't have to stay up all night assembling bicycles plus I sleep in as late as I want, and I'm still up before the kids.
  3. Ferrari livery is like Texas or Alabama football uniforms. It's not going to be flashy or edgy. It's beautiful in its simplicity. Although Ferrari's livery can definitely get screwed up when they try to get too cute, like having too much white, not enough black, or putting too much "flair" on the car. Just like our Texas uniforms start to look worse when we have too much flair on them.
  4. Pretty sure Clark mentioned that the pool construction wouldn't break ground until the ground thawed. I assume the down payment was to ensure he was first in line or early in the process. As for flying everyone back for the pool christening, well, that's just the kind of dumb thing Clark Griswold tends to say in the moment. But I'm hoping he came to his senses and limited it to a small gathering consisting solely of his wife Ellen, and Mary the sales girl.
  5. There are 640 fluid ounces in five gallons, so to get your 5 gallons of chili, just go out and buy 6 of these big boys, throw 'em in a pot and warm it up, and call it a day.
  6. Yup, I was thinking specifically of the ferocity of the fan base. As the old lone-toothers selling jams and jellies along the roadside die off, and are replaced by younger folks, many of whom are actually from the state of Texas and might have grown up Longhorn fans, I'm wondering if the fan base will harbor as much hatred toward Texas, as they have in years past. Sort of the 2%er effect but for pig instead of ag.
  7. Yup, Arkansas gives generous financial aid to Texas students. So do Alabama and some other SEC schools. Some Texas kids would rather go to a flagship in another state, than one of Texas' directional universities like Texas State, UTSA, or Texas A&M.
  8. As I'm sure you know well, why is divorce so expensive?
  9. Yeah the multiverse itself is the problem for me. It plays differently in movies, than it ever did in the comic books. I really just don't care about individual characters because there's an infinite number of replacements for them. Sure, some of them might only be 2D or might be pigs, but there's still plenty of them out there.
  10. Maybe so, but at least one of them I know personally, still wears UT gear when he's home in Austin. They knew all along they didn't have the grades to get into Texas, it's not like it was some huge surprise
  11. Yeah! Gulf, Martini, and John Player Special can SUCK IT!
  12. True, true. But in recent years, there are a lot more Texas kids going to Arkansas. I know the kids of three families in Austin, all raised as die-hard Longhorns, but didn't get in to UT. They're going to Arkansas now, but I wonder how much hate they'll be able to muster against the team they rooted for their entire lives? It'll be interesting to see if this new dynamic affects the moonshine-fueled fury of the jelly-selling hordes.
  13. Well, somebody's got to take up our mantle as Conference Bad Boy after we leave. Might as well be the Birds-in-a-Blender.
  14. I have no love for Mercedes, they can go fuck themselves. Toto is a dick, Lewis is a petulant child, and then there's that other guy. That said, the silver Merc livery is beautiful and the black Merc livery is boring AF.
  15. Yeah, the cost of that much meat is going to add up quick. You might consider searching for some cost savings by thinking outside the box...
  16. Had the BBQ gumbo at SS yesterday and it was pretty freaking great. Served over potato salad-- which I'd only ever heard of on the gumbo thread here on the surl-- and it worked. Also served with a link of boudin which was decent but not great.
  17. It goes further back than that, it's been a running joke in the national media since the late 80s. When will Texas be back?? After the devastating loss to Georgia in the 1984 Cotton Bowl, which ended up costing Texas a national championship, the football team wandered in the woods for over a decade. There was the one great "WIT" year in 1990, and at the time, the media asked "Is Texas back?" 46-3 later, that question was answered with a resounding "no." Then in '95 and '96, with back-to-back conference championships and Texas seemingly on an upswing, everyone started asking the question again. But 1997's disappointing season and the subsequent firing of Mackovic, seemed to once again answer that question as a "no." Then Mack Brown finally turned things around and for a while, Texas WAS back. And then, we weren't. So after every down period, the question is asked.
  18. I've defended the guy and agree with most of what you're saying, but I'm not sure we can make this conclusion, yet. Speaking strictly from the UT perspective, as you heard at the B12 CCG, he fired up the fans so mightily that there's zero chance of any reconciliation between Texas and the rest of the B12, for the foreseeable future. That may not affect ISU, but Texas Tech desperately needs as much exposure and as many butts in seats as possible. That's precisely why their administration has alternated between begging Texas to continue the series, and attempting to guilt/strong-arm Texas into continuing the series. The same is true for Baylor and TCU. But given Yormark's attitude, statements, and positioning, he's completely guaranteed that won't happen at any time in the future that would actually help the Texas schools within the B12. When all he HAD to do, was make some generic comments and let things go.

    Tex Mex

Santa Catarina is great. More along the lines of the interior-Mex than Tex-Mex, but they do have some Tex-Mex options that are solid. Good happy hour specials too. They have that location in Cedar Park, and another in Lakeway.
