  1. No, it isn't. It's the one thing that is absolutely and completely irrelevant with respect to Texas' chances to make the CFP. If Texas wins, they're ahead of Ohio State. If Texas loses, they'll remain behind Ohio State. It makes absolutely zero difference-- to Texas-- where Ohio State is currently ranked. Now, if you want to make all those same arguments about Oregon's ranking ahead of Texas and its implications on Texas' chances to make the CFP, that's fine. But there is zero chance an 11-1 non-champ Ohio State goes to the CFP ahead of a 12-1 conference champ Texas. Ohio State's current position is irrelevant.
  2. Ha! Certainly possible, of course. I have been wondering when someone was going to chime in with some brilliance like, "I sure hope the team is more focused on OkState than the fans are."
  3. This one's just a throwaway for clicks and eyeballs. tOSU is done at 12 games, they're 11-1 and they can't do anything to change their position. If Texas beats OkState then Texas has an extra win and a conference championship, which immediately puts Texas above tOSU. If Texas loses then the Horns are a 2-loss non-champ that would be behind Ohio State regardless. Ohio State's position is completely irrelevant with respect to Texas' chances at the CFP.
  4. It was a gold Trans Am, stoopid sip. Honorable non-cheating ags wouldn't be caught dead giving away Camaros to recruits.
  5. It's never going to rain again
  6. Jeff's always been a decent guy. I think he'll come back around after the dust settles this weekend.
  7. Over the long weekend I finally had plenty of time, and watched a lot of games from other conferences. It's amazing the contrast between how quick an SEC or B1G-reffed game moves along, compared to the B12. Reviews that take a few moments on obvious calls for other conferences, take 5 minutes for the B12 buffoons to figure out. It's eye-opening.

    Burgers

I am unclear on Deej's opinion of the burgers at Dirty's since the city made them replace their ancient flat top.
  9. Good thing I've already got my accommodations for the weekend squared away.
  10. It's fascinating watching them attempt to deal with the cognitive dissonance of reconciling the reality we've been telling them for the past 15 years-- that the SEC is typically top-heavy each year and that it has a whole lot of meh in the middle and some truly terrible teams at the bottom-- versus their long-held belief in the myth that every team in the SEC is a juggernaut, a rolling ball of butcher knives, creating a season-long fearsome grind that only battle-hardened teams like the fightin texum bulldogs could ever hope to navigate through (to a 4-4 annual finish). I guess it just means more.
  11. Oh come on, now-- you're just angry your team doesn't get to wear its all-whites.
  12. Is the athletics department going to saddle him with legacy coaches, or allow him to pick and choose his entire staff? If it's the former, then we already know everything we need to, regarding their potential for success.
  13. Think some of us missed your specification, but also our entire discussion has been with the assumption that Alabama wins, just as the assumption is that Texas wins. Otherwise, why discuss it at all? We all know what happens to a 2-loss Alabama and its implications on Texas' claim to "best win."
  14. Not unlike the NFL teams that will sometimes wear white at home only when playing Dallas, just to prevent the Cowboys from wearing their preferred white jerseys. I'm a Cowboys fan and I still find that to be both petty and awesome.
  15. BUT... ...as has been stated, the NFL has decided to own Thanksgiving Day, so it seems unlikely we'd resume that tradition. And if it's not on T-day, I'm indifferent wrt T+1 vs. T+2. I think the SEC should let surly decide by popular vote.
  16. Pretty sure the home team has the choice. I think LSU wears white at home sometimes.
  17. We're not talking about ANY game, we're talking about the A&M game. In the 100+ years of the rivalry, there's only a handful of times in the late 90s and early 2000s that the game was played on T+1, and even that hasn't happened since 2007. So no, there's no meaningful history to playing this rivalry game on T+1. The entire point of the discussion about Thanksgiving day itself, is because there IS a long and meaningful history of playing the ags on THAT day. Thanksgiving day is important to the rivalry, T+1 is not. That we've played a bunch of rando substitute games on T+1 over the past 12 years isn't relevant to the discussion about the A&M game and its history.
  18. Yup. The things I think about are 1) All other things being equal, a road win is better than a neutral site win 2) If Oregon beats Washington and Alabama beats Georgia, then Alabama will jump ahead of Washington in all rankings and therefore at season's end the Texas win over Alabama is better than Oregon's win over Washington 3) Texas beat Alabama in one try and has a 100% win rate against the Tide, whereas Oregon required a mulligan game to get their win and has a 50% win rate against Washington Therefore if Texas, Alabama, and Oregon all win, Texas should be ranked ahead of Oregon. Very simple. Obviously, it's possible the committee won't see it my way.
  19. The last quarter-century? We haven't played a rival on T+1 since 2007. So, yeah, no meaningful basis in history. 🙄
  20. As a Cowboys fan I loved watching the game at the tailgate, and then heading in to Memorial Stadium to watch Texas beat the ags. T+1 has no meaningful basis in history, so if the game's not on Thanksgiving, I'm indifferent to whether it's on Friday or Saturday.
