  1. BUT... ...as has been stated, the NFL has decided to own Thanksgiving Day, so it seems unlikely we'd resume that tradition. And if it's not on T-day, I'm indifferent wrt T+1 vs. T+2. I think the SEC should let surly decide by popular vote.
  2. Pretty sure the home team has the choice. I think LSU wears white at home sometimes.
  3. We're not talking about ANY game, we're talking about the A&M game. In the 100+ years of the rivalry, there's only a handful of times in the late 90s and early 2000s that the game was played on T+1, and even that hasn't happened since 2007. So no, there's no meaningful history to playing this rivalry game on T+1. The entire point of the discussion about Thanksgiving day itself, is because there IS a long and meaningful history of playing the ags on THAT day. Thanksgiving day is important to the rivalry, T+1 is not. That we've played a bunch of rando substitute games on T+1 over the past 12 years isn't relevant to the discussion about the A&M game and its history.
  4. Yup. The things I think about are 1) All other things being equal, a road win is better than a neutral site win 2) If Oregon beats Washington and Alabama beats Georgia, then Alabama will jump ahead of Washington in all rankings and therefore at season's end the Texas win over Alabama is better than Oregon's win over Washington 3) Texas beat Alabama in one try and has a 100% win rate against the Tide, whereas Oregon required a mulligan game to get their win and has a 50% win rate against Washington Therefore if Texas, Alabama, and Oregon all win, Texas should be ranked ahead of Oregon. Very simple. Obviously, it's possible the committee won't see it my way.
  5. The last quarter-century? We haven't played a rival on T+1 since 2007. So, yeah, no meaningful basis in history. 🙄
  6. As a Cowboys fan I loved watching the game at the tailgate, and then heading in to Memorial Stadium to watch Texas beat the ags. T+1 has no meaningful basis in history, so if the game's not on Thanksgiving, I'm indifferent to whether it's on Friday or Saturday.
  7. Maybe you're thinking of Mack Brown's 2? Texas has 3 total, the first one in 1996 under Mackovic. It's still an embarrassingly small number, especially compared to our archrival, which is precisely why I want Texas to win this last one so badly. After that the chips will fall where they may, but I desperately want to see Texas take this one last opportunity to win the B12 championship in football.
  8. Heck with the state of Florida in the B12 footprint, they might explore hosting it in the Sunshine State every now and then.
  9. You don't think Jerry would love to host the SEC championship game, and all of the additional cash it would bring him? And you don't think the SEC would love to showcase its premier game in the fertile recruiting grounds of Texas on a semi-regular basis? I don't think the SEC championship would move to Arlington permanently (despite the fears that some current SEC fans have expressed), but I think it's likely that it will at least occasionally rotate to JerryWorld. And I'm sure Jerry would find some workarounds for how to position the B12 CCG in those years. That's the easiest bit.
  10. I think that high expectations and early results for USC, coupled with Prime hype, fueled a ton of the early giddiness. And apparently, that euphoria hasn't faded away through the remainder of the season. The selection committee are basically like children who are easily distracted by shiny objects. No amount of reasoning is going to change their minds once they see the bauble and decide that it is what they want.
  11. I hear you, but I'd say it's likely that the SEC championship game is going to at least occasionally rotate to Arlington. And since I hope Texas is a regular participant in the SEC championship game, I have to accept we could be playing in Arlington again.
  12. So the only reason TCU won, is because they were on an even playing field, rather than one that was tilted heavily in Michigan's favor through cheating? Okay...
  13. And they still don't understand they'll NEVER get past that me-first culture, when they're hiring mercenaries by dropping huge bags on a select few. True NIL is more transparent and causes less turmoil on a team, but it's not in the ag culture to develop something solid and transparent from the ground-up. They ALWAYS try to short circuit every process by throwing giant bags of cash at them. They ARE the culture problem. They created it, they embedded it, they continue to cultivate it, and I don't see them ever having enough self-awareness to change any of that.
  14. Right, that's exactly the point. I don't think it'll be a complete failure on either count, but rather a little bit of both. It's what the ags do. You and I aren't far off, I just think 8-4 is their absolute ceiling, while you think it's the likely outcome.
  15. Maybe, but why would anyone assume they'd win @Florida, @South Carlina, @Miss State, or @ Auburn, when they lost to ALL of those teams in 2022, the last time they played all but Florida on the road? Not counting FCS scrubs, the only "likely" win on their entire schedule, is Arkansas, because for some reason they just flat out own the pigs.
  16. I don't think so. When they fired Jimbo, plenty of Texas fans said they thought that Elko and Traylor would be obvious choices as a "good fit" but that the ags would somehow screw that up and do something different and stupid. And, well, they did. But ultimately they ended up with one of the coaches that folks on here predicted weeks ago. Just because he's a decent coach and a "good fit" doesn't mean anyone in Austin is drinking any koolaid. This is a guy who will consistently field teams that Sarkisian will have no problem dismantling and dismembering. The ags' 8-4 ceiling probably just dropped to 7-5. They better make sure there are no App States on future schedules...
  17. Oh boy, are we about to see someone drag up the definitive post from... Statalyzer I think was the name? Dunno, it's been decades now...
  18. Provided Texas beats oSu, an FSU loss by itself puts Texas in, without any other considerations. Georgia/Alabama is irrelevant, Washington/Oregon is irrelevant. Same goes for a Michigan loss (yeah, I know that's not going to happen).
  19. Yeah I think Alabama has the athletes and coaching to keep it close through the half, maybe even lead if they get ahead in turnovers. But by the 4th quarter I expect Georgia to finally overpower them, and win by 10-14.
  20. Yeah that was really weird. Not sure what's going on in that dude's head but this is not a good sign for him. Anyway, congrats to Max and RBR. What a just unbelievably dominating season.
  21. No, you still have to separate the eggs. They won't whip correctly otherwise. I've kept nog in the fridge for up to 3 years, it's fine.
