  1. An Aggie buddy of mine is really taking this angle of things hard. He was very confident that we'd come into the SEC and be taught a rough lesson and humbled. Crowed about Georgia beating us the first time and was generally insufferable. He let it go for a while when the inevitable A&M collapse/Texas resurgence happened and he's kind of reduced to angrily whining about conference drama. - Very upset with me and others in the group chat for laughing at the SEC's bowl woes, admonishing us to have conference pride - Seems brainlocked at the concept of viewing Ohio St/Texas through his promoted prism of conference pride when confronted by Florida buddy (never me, picking on Aggies isn't even really fun for me in real life unless they start it, and even then kind of boring). The Big 10 call from within Aggie fandom is just a re-manifestation of the same sad, pathetic impulse that led them out of the Big 12. There is no faith within them that they will ever be anything worth attention, so they think they need coattails to ride or to be in near proximity to a shinier object to get its reflected light. It's not even in their heads that they could either (a) be the leader or (b) be focused on themselves and their own achievements/failures outside of regularly comparing against others. And really, a lot of this is our fault. If you make fun of little brother enough, he believes it and it becomes his personality if he isn't mentally and emotionally strong. Aggies are neither. I'd like to respect them, but they have to make themselves respectable (win) and then act respectably (stop fucking whining all the time and seeking Good Boy points and praise and validation from others) over a consistent period of time. If not winning -> shut up If winning -> act like its expected and be outwardly non-plussed and gracious repeat for 20 years and maybe, MAYBE we can start to look at you like you're a Big Boy
  2. That pass-pro line call is executed damn near perfectly, and Connor's job there was to hold that QB blindside gap and to NOT overpursue for contact's sake and leave a shot to Quinn's spine available. Banks didn't need the help + his guy going outside anyway initially. Majors didn't need anymore help than a right-hand shove (which Connor provided). As Quinn is throwing, Connor's head is looking at the DE who is rolling inside on Banks while keeping a hand on Major's guy. Great help work from Connor. The only real fuck-up here is Helm. Hopped outside an inside-pursuit defender and then whipped inside. (And maybe Hutson should've been less aggressive on Majors's guy.)
  3. Yes. Players thinking/acting like us is a problem for the players, because we're over-emotional idiots.
  4. Quinn Ewers was unbelievable at the very end. Unbelievable. Holy shit, boy, way to go.
  5. I never doubted for a second. Total faith in him and Quinn the whole time. Underwear is VERY clean. All relationships with others FIRMLY intact.
  6. I thought Quinn was going to fumble that
  7. why did we just run it to the right hash?
  8. No one does, not even them. We're so much more talented we might just win anyway
  9. Not running the clock Having Quinn air out an arm punt when all we needed to do was grind
  10. Muhammad throwing his hands up in the "Where's the safety!?" complaint while the ball is still in the air is amazing to see in replay. What a fucking clown
  11. No clue what #5 was doing. He has no clue either.
  12. shit in one hand and wish in the other, pal
  13. I'm leeching off my son's YouTubeTV account and if this is true I might Venmo him $10. 22-view, no ESPN commentary, and Craig Way?? Is it synced up?
  14. Charlie would've been a success if it wasn't for Mack's secret meddling during those years!
  15. Good point, I didn't consider the danger of random anonymous Internet posters giving Mack Brown a coaching position. I had the idiotic idea that CDC, the regents, and Sark ran the show. I forgot about LonghornGrandpa and HookEm833.
  16. All the best to y'all's therapists and spouses. The amount of trauma y'all still haven't processed is alarming. Hating people doesn't make them disappear. The way you deal with a bitch ex-wife is by making it more profitable for her to be less of a bitch.
  17. Yes. Now tell me how that can be either diminished or avoided.
  18. Right, which is why people in a position to make it happen need to make sure he feels accommodated and loved. And that shouldn't be that difficult, honestly. An honorific, some nice UT gear when new styles come out, face in the video packages, cut some promos, do some interviews, "THANKS MACK!" in the drone show at some relevant date (birthday or somesuch). Very import golf-playing and speech-giving responsibilities. Keep him just busy and fed enough to keep his worst instincts from winning out.
  19. From my first comment on this I've pointed out the eventuality that Mack will not, in fact, say nothing but great things about Texas. ("If he starts getting ornery about this-or-that (in public or even in private), pat him on the head and have Sally come collect him until he's had his orange slices and feels better.") Good luck, fellow posters, keeping the cameras and microphones away from Mack and convincing players, coaches, admin, and donors to ignore his calls. Go fly a banner, I guess.
  20. All this "he threatened to sue us so long we couldn't get Saban and he told some recruits to go somewhere else" or whatever shit is super-inside baseball to whatever extent it's even connected to reality. When he resigned, he didn't put out public statements about Texas being dogshit and evil, he said he resigned because his work wasn't up to the standard of Texas expectations. He was a little whiny about it, but overall he has been a good soldier in terms of being outwardly positive. Don't confuse our hyper-obsessive viewpoint onto it with how the broader CFB/sports world sees it. Here's a very simple question: Is it good for Texas to have an NC-winning former coach on ESPN/YouTube/wherever talking about how awesome Texas is? The answer is yes. Since Mack is coming, whether we like it or not, we should actively engineer the best possible outcome to the extent that we can.
  21. If Mack puts on a good public face and we all either are good friends genuinely or at least pretend in front of the kids we are good friends, it's a positive. Legacy and unity build and sustain programs. "No matter what you do for us beforehand, we will shun you forever if you fuck up." vs. "If you win big, you're allowed some fuck-ups and shitty behavior and we'll still take put on a good show of welcoming you after a grace period of good behavior." That's not just good for our public image (which matters), it's good for recruiting the best of the best to play and work here. We can be petty bitches here, fine, but wanting the University to manifest that petty bitchiness is ridiculous. There is nothing anyone can do to stop Mack Brown from (a) having a voice many will listen to and (b) staying closer to the program than basically anyone else not current working/playing for the program can. Those are set in stone. We can pout and bitch and relitigate 2010-2012 (which we all agree on) but neither (a) nor (b) are changing. He's coming. CDC can't stop it. Sark can't stop it. No poster of any connection or influence can even be a mild speedbump to it. If Uncle Mack is coming to Thanksgiving, you might as well set it up to be as successful as possible knowing how Uncle Mack acts and planning around it. Will he publicly throw shade sometimes? Absolutely. Will the management of his perceived legacy and ego be primary in his mind? Absolutely. Does he have anything useful to add to the football operations side of things? Hell no. Should Sark spend more than 30 minutes a week in conversation with him? Hell no. Blow a bunch of praise and cigar smoke up his ass, hand him a microphone, then put some shit that flatters him (his #1 concern) and the Texas program on the teleprompter and let him rip.
  22. "Too bad you won't be around for the Belichick era."
