The big question to the bolded is WHY? Why do the elite coaches not want to come here ?
Those coaches have turned down a lot of jobs, I wouldn't shit myself too hard over being yet another turndown.
The thing that's fucked us the hardest is that our legendary coach (Mack) didn't produce a coaching tree for us to pick fruit from. We had a HCIW situation that probably would've worked out pretty well, but he screwed that up. He kept GD around for years and never raised his replacement because he was scared of a replacement.

Bob Stoops and Mack Brown have the exact same # of national titles. In fact, Texas has a more recent one than OU.
Our legendary coach fell apart and got lazy. We had a good succession plan in place but he fucked it up and we've been wandering in the desert ever since. We took two home run swings (Saban and Urban) and missed both. We've ended up with projects (a small-timer, a smaller-timer, and a personal self-destruction case).

My fear is that ISU is going to come out with a chip on their shoulder, and we are going to come out flat. Their record isn't as good as they were expecting, but if they come out and beat big bad Texas, they can redeem their season a bit. For us, it's ISU, who give a rat's ass.
At this point in our season, I don't think that factors in anymore.
Nailing her in HS was one thing, but those days are long gone and while it's always fun to get a lay, let's just say it's not as high a mountain to climb as it used to be.

This team is 6-2 at worst if Ehlinger was still QB
What this man said.
Big hole for 7 yards? Sam grabs that and extends the drive. Easily 6 extended drives this season. Builds OL confidence. Keeps D off the field. (Obviously) increases scoring.

So who do I have to stab for us to get Ewers?

Casey Thompson has entered the portal
He's 3-3. Sark's 4-4. If either of these guys walks away in a huff the amount of tears I'm going to spill could fit in a gnat's ballsack.

the players v coaches wheel, may it never stop spinning
It's easier to replace players than coaches. It's harder to find good coaches than good players. That sucks for the players, but it's the nature of the sport and the simple numbers of it. Players are just more expendable.

anyone blaming the players is stupid as fuck and doesn’t know jack shit about football. The offensive line is not playing well enough to have the best running back in the country by far to have the ball fed to him.
What is the offensive line made up of, coaches?
Obviously it takes coaches and players.

Yes, coaches are obviously doing a terrible job of getting these guys minds' right in terms of holding up in the 2nd half.
But team psyche isn't just about coaches, it's also about veteran leadership among the players. Which, apparently, we do not have.

I'm not exactly sure what that "divorce" entails. Sounds nice, but what does it specifically mean?

A fire for what? The season is over.
The rest of this season and 2022.
Unless Quinn Ewers is walking through that door or Arch is enrolling on a Ewers schedule, this is what we've got. Until Arch's true freshman year at the earliest.
(Yes, I know we have Maalik.)

Even if the only purpose is to light a fire under Casey, start Card next week.

The reason is, starting Card would lead to hideous blowouts.
What's the logic here? What evidence do you have for this? Getting destroyed by an Arkansas DL that was in his face every down with a 3-man rush and 8 guys in coverage?

... but Sam’s leadership didn’t do a great deal for us.
He carried the team on his back to a Sugar Bowl win. I'm not sitting here arguing that Sam Ehlinger was amazing, just that he gave a shit about winning and that rubbed off on his teammates from time to time.
There is absolutely no reason to start Casey Thompson. He's a 4th-year guy. The cake is baked.

Casey Thompson is solid at times, but you can’t rely on this guy for shit. You need to know what you’re gonna get from your qb.
His running threat would help Bijan more if he would punish them effectivelyHe's not a winner.
It's cliché and hokey, but the leader of a team needs to inspire his guys and Thompson does none of that and maybe even the opposite. There is no one who thinks, "Casey's got this." I don't see an offense that looks like it is ready to go to war for its QB. That OL is uninspired. I don't think he's a cancer or the guys dislike him, but it's damned obvious he doesn't fire them up or make them believe.
The downgrade at QB from Sam to Casey is fucking huge. Some here talk up passing stats and they're whistling past the graveyard. He does just enough to be safe (which keeps stats good, and I don't think that's WHY he plays the way he does).
Fuck stats. People need to shut up about his god damned stats. He's 3-3.

I fully expected us to lose today, but I didn’t expect casey to not give any effort on that last drive
Let me know the last time you saw Casey Thompson bloom under pressure.
I'll wait.

Didn't stop the coaching staff from benching Card and treating him like a fucking leper.
Horribly handled

Players on this team who should NEVER be starting:

It's a high pressure situation and those are two guys who can pick their spots.
Perhaps after a third failure (hoping Sark turns it around, but...) we will be in a position where all the fucking cats (big $ factions, administration, etc...) will put their own little fiefdoms aside and bow down before a Big Daddy sure-thing hire like Urban or Saban.
Thing is... who even is that at this point? Nick is old as fuck. Urban might come back to the NCAA but he's got finger stink on him and makes it harder and harder to tempt those cats into aligning. Dabo? Kirby Smart?
