  1. I thought it was 6 schools that have played each other at least 5 consecutive years. I believe that was an early version, all the reporters could get their hands on. Subsequent version extended to 2036, IIRC. Anyway, I wonder if some of the willingness for several Pac schools to talk to the B12 has to do with being sick of Stanford and Cal's crap. Stanford (and probably Cal's) snootiness has at least twice killed off efforts to secure the Pac's future by adding us. And apparently a PITA regarding other matters that could have helped the Pac. So instead of more of the same as the conference tries to avoid sinking, here's the chance to move to a conf. with a different attitude and values. But the B12 isn't in the clear yet. Of course it all depends on ND, B1G, and SEC, but the ACC does have the chance, if ESPN plays along, to strengthen some and expand. The ACC can go to unequal revenue sharing and ESPN could up per school pay a bit if they add a few schools, say 2-6 of the best brands/markets from the B12 or even Pac. The advantage for ESPN would be to strengthen the ACC as their secondary conference, with more and stronger quality matchups for their non-SEC slots. Let the weakest of the B12/Pac go to Fox/CBS/whatever or still the chance to bid for part of the leftover B12 (or Pac) conf. but at a greater discount. As for now the ACCNet still exists, and still could get some $ for getting new schools in major markets. I don't know what would pencil out, but perhaps we'd see 2 of the Texas schools added if they think that could get local rates for DFW, Houston, and maybe the entire state. Oregon and Wash if still available, maybe ASU and Okie St for a bridge and new states, or Cinci instead for Ohio, playoff potential, etc. Don't know what their thinking and valuing is, but I'd expect ESPN wants to insure and solidify the ACC has the clear #3 conference, a confl they own fully versus half owned. B12 expansion threatens that. Or maybe they do nothing. Too many potential moving parts right now to know for sure.
  2. Koppe Sports Network Coast to Coast! (after the earthquake)
  3. Was just perusing an Arizona board, they're still pissed about having hired Mackovic and Sumlin.
  4. Do they have 7-11's in LA? (Asking for UH) For youngsters: The day the Houston and Boston College teams got to Dallas, a quote from an anonymous Cotton Bowl official appeared in a local newspaper saying that half the University of Houston students would be eating at the city's 7-11 stores, and the other half would be robbing them. https://www.upi.com/Archives/1985/01/03/Repercussions-from-this-years-Cotton-Bowl-the-49th/4976473576400/
  5. Gotdam, buy some paragraph breaks from Vanna!
  6. Lots of rumors, including from Wilner, that USC may have requested the FOXb1g NOT add Oregon. Would prefer they and UCLA be an island, in part for recruiting reasons. No idea on the accuracy, but it's out there. While the athletes will certainly spend more time on planes, it should be a net neutral to maybe even a slight improvement for the average of how late they arrive back home. The 2 hour earlier difference for central time zone schools, which would be the sizeable majority of their schedules, more than makes up for the extra miles when compared to the WA, OR, and CO schools (and for much of the Spring and Fall AZ is on Pac time). Longer flights, but games ending 2 hours earlier.
  7. If the B1G succeeds in luring ND and taking some ACC schools, our schedule would likely have been pretty good had we gone north. Say it had ended up at 24, with USC, UCLA, ND, us, OU, UNC, UVA, GT, MIA, and Stanford. Or maybe with the star power and pay boost of adding USC, ND, us and OU, they also are able to lure FSU and Clemson instead of MIA and Stan. We probably end up playing OU and Neb every year, and more from the newcomers than the traditional B10 schools. Thus mostly south and west games. FOX is probably going to go NFL style and have the blue bloods play each other more frequently than a balanced rotation would, so most years we'd play ND, USC, and a Florida school. Ohio St, Mich, and Penn St far more than Purdue or Minnesota. If USC and UCLA ended up the only PAC additions to the B1G, we'd play them every year. So a yearly game in SoCal and a home slate every year of USC/UCLA, Neb every other year, 1 of Ohio St/Mich/Penn St, 1 of FSU/Clem/ND, and probably 1 of Wisc/UNC on the years we are at Neb. At least 4 good names at home every year. I'd rather play that schedule, but the travel remains better in the SEC, and more importantly, I don't think the B1G can add enough blue bloods and star programs to eliminate the recruiting advantage of playing in the SEC. BTW, I've heard on ESPN and seen several of the college reporters on Twitter say this week that the AAU is a factor but not a requirement for the FOXb1g. Hence schools like Mia, Clemson, VT, and maybe FSU would have a shot. This is creating an AFC/NFC now.
  8. Time to send home the Los Angeles Strikeout Kings of Anaheim.
  9. I gave you a plus, so no need to call Iceman.
  10. On my couch I bet it's a 70's watercouch
  11. Last year: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29892165/san-diego-state-play-2021-home-football-games-dignity-health-sports-park-carson-california San Diego State to play 2021 home football games at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California ...Tuesday's announcement notably said the Aztecs would play a spring season at Dignity Health Sports Park, home to the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer and the former temporary home of the NFL's Los Angeles Chargers.... A pattern is emerging...
  12. Wasn't clear on the broadcast, did Uran's group catch back up down the bridge totally on their own, or did the peloton slow to allow them back in? Got a Talladega, but bummed that we won't have Adam Blythe's humor on the motorbike.
  13. Looking forward to cobblestones and Allez opi omi.
  14. Also swaim, a few days before UH was confirmed: @GSwaim Replying to @GSwaim After Tuesday's #Big 12 meeting, #BYU, #Bearcats, #UCF and #BoisesState may well be the four teams invited, as we've mentioned before that Houston and SMU are likely out.
  15. I've been thinking about all that late night travel for USC and UCLA athletes, now that 14 of their 15 opponents will be 2 to 5 hour flights away. With this new money they could open up athletes only USC-O'Hare & UCLA-Midway campuses and just shuttle in and out of there.
