  1. An answer to an upcoming Jeopardy category of, "Things more successful than Matthew McCringy's 'Bless the Moody' chant."
  2. So if we want a real, helpful infrastructure project, why not a water pipeline to end ag and urban droughts in most of the western states? Desalination plants in Texas, a network of pipelines/?aquifers? to perhaps central Colorado so it can feed the western Colorado, Rio Grande, Pecos, TX Colorado, Brazos, Red, Arkansas, and Platte River watersheds. Solving the water issues for CA, NV, UT, CO, NE, MO, and every state south of them. Guaranteed capacity for full planting allocations every year, no more drought restrictions on residents, full reservoirs, and optimal stream flows to satisfy environmentalists (though by nature the activists will never be satisfied. But can help with reducing court challenges to future projects across the board.) No more wasting valuable land by building new lakes and the environmental impacts of them. The Gulf of Mexico becomes the reservoir with the capacity to handle all future growth. Yes, that's a hell of a lot of pumping to reach the western Colorado and the Front Range cities, so short term perhaps not cost effective. But ultimately would provide national ag security and remove a huge growth issue for western cities. (Of note, western cities and suburbs are usually much more efficient, they tend to develop more contiguous and densely compared to back east. Saw a stat years ago that DFW was 3 times as densely developed as Atlanta.) No more poor crops because of drought, only have to worry about the years with too much rain. Long term has the potential to open up more land for ag use if at some point in the future our demand requires it, so a national security guarantee. Not sure how much of pipeline capacity could be reduced by shifting reservoir allocations or if it is possible to fill near ends of some aquifers and increase pumping from the far ends. I don't know the flows, but seems like there would be a way to refill the Ogallala aquifer. That could allow for reallocations and perhaps other gap pipelines to additional watersheds or aquifers that might benefit all the way up to the Dakotas. A long-term Fed project that wouldn't have a short term increase in inflation, because the planning and enviro review process would take many years. Would need federal coordination and partial funding, but could figure out a formula for taxing future development in the affected states to repay the feds. Heck, capture the reduced ag insurance costs from removal of the drought threat. The US doesn't have a long term drought problem, it's just an issue of cost and political will. I'm not the first to propose this. We can choose to start now, or keep kicking the can down the road.
  3. Easier to do when Manfred has the umps giving the Dodgers the most favorable treatment in the sport: https://www.umpscorecards.com/teams/ Pct favored: 80% LAD (#1)
  4. Longer version. Batter must have been jawing after rounding second, look at the ump's reaction. Replay upheld the targeting call, pitcher will have to sit out the first half of the next game. "I like the rule change that he now can stay in the dugout with his teammates instead of banished to the locker room." - meathead announcers
  5. These lousy uni's look like '70's children's pajamas. Do they come with Star Wars and Tron wall posters?
  6. Um, no. Zero guarantee of that, and just making the playoffs shouldn't be our goal. Unfortunately that seems to be exactly Click's measuring stick, rather than actually being able to win a title. Is he the only person that thought Odo would be a quality starter? Injuries are going to happen. Reminds me of the hedge fund strategies of doing just enough to optimize when things are good, but little capacity to handle disruption. A crapload of mediocrity backups on this roster. I'm not sure copying the TB strategy gets us back to an ALCS. I could be way wrong, and it's only April. April and May are when you figure out what you really have, adjust, find your groove, and then make a list of upgrades you can trade for. Maybe he'll surprise me, his pitchers overperformed in last year's playoffs. But my gut says Click is going to blow it.
  7. Allegedly went ghost after texts from Taylor Lorenz and Antifa.
  8. Just a total coincidence that the Astros are dead last in the calls for/against rankings...and Dodgers were first last time I checked.
  9. Maybe Surly has the uncontrollable poopies today. Meanwhile:
  10. Look at the radar, in some places it's raining, men.
  11. Have you seen my baseball? Have you seen my wiener?
  12. Today Japan approved Novavax, joining Australia, Canada, India, and most of Europe. Of course our corrupt FDA continues to drag its feet on approval.
  13. If these umps are gonna use a mic they need to hit the weight room.
  14. So it was a high of 81, game time temp in the 70's and dewpoints in the 50's, only 2% of Houston days are that perfect. The roof was open earlier, what dumbass excuse are they using for even trying to close it if they actually intended to keep it open tonight? I don't care if even Dusty made the call, if you think you can't win because a roof is open, you're a loser with a loser mentality.
  15. Hello, I hear you guys like talking the politics.
