  1. John Daly - 55 Chrissy Metz - 41 Mark Mangina - 65 Hunter Ashleigh Shackelford - 29? Chris Christie - 59 Michael Moore - 67 Tess Holiday- 35 Whoopie Goldberg - 66 Ardi Rizal - now 11: Rex Kramer (aka Kenny) - ? (are we adding up or starting over with reincarnations?)
  2. Still watching the post-game, seems like Big Papi is gonna try to track down Pole Assassin before leaving Texas.
  3. Didn't quite make it, but what a great season. Thank you Dusty, you did a great job. I had doubts, but overall you were excellent. And a class act. Altuve is my favorite Astros, the heart of this team. Thanks for the spirited leadership and vocal spunk, Correa. I hope you return, but good luck, unless you go to the Yankees, Red Sox, or Dodgers. Thanks to the rest of the team and staff. (Except Click, be better.) And Crane for your commitment and willingness to spend. Best Houston sports owner maybe ever. 7 awesome years. Find a way to keep it going.
  4. Congrats Braves, that was an impressive finishing run to the season. Enjoy a well earned title. If my Astros had to lose, I'm glad it was to Atlanta.
  5. I'm gonna keep watching. Will relish scapegoating Manfred getting booed by every ticket buyer in attendance. And maybe see if Correa and/or Dusty puts on a Boras Inc hat....
  6. That wasn't what I said or anything close to the point I was making. Which you know, just a dumb Twitter/CR style response, so I won't spell it out again.
  7. Which might have something to do with Atlanta's pitching. And proves my point, bats can go cold. You usually need enough quality pitching to overcome that. We're playing the hottest team from the NL this series. They're good right now. And not every pitcher is going to be great all series. It's a team game. But you usually need enough balance.
  8. You don't think a decent starter could have won Game 1 and change the entire tone of the series? 3-2 Game 4 wasn't winnable with a decent starter? You really think this isn't a different game if we aren't starting a guy who pitched 2 days ago and Fried doesn't have the stress relief of a big lead? As to not scoring in Game 3, are you too young to remember Jack Morris's Game 7 in 1991? Most World Series usually have some sort of pitcher's duel game. Lack of quality starters and the bullpen mostly performing well but ultimately overused is THE story of our 2021 WS. The old adage is still true, pitching wins more titles than hitting.
  9. Bullpen reverting to form. Which can happen when way overused. Sorry apologists, but Click is the biggest reason we aren't winning a title. No manager is perfect, and Dusty has done great as a whole. Not at all on him. He can only use what he's given. For nearly 2 years every fan with half a brain has said our pitching was our biggest weakness. Click didn't do near enough. Injuries happen, he cut it too close, like a just in time business with a hedge fund ownership. He's not the worst GM, but he blew what could have been Correa's last year here. This was the year to grab another ring. It's a huge credit to the players and coaches that they gutted it out this far.
  10. Actually, listening to Correa over the last few weeks, he seems to be hinting at listening to a hometown discount. Not that I have confidence that Click's background and philosophy will find a way to make it happen.
  11. So if we don't get a storybook ending, it's still been a hell of an awesome 7 years. How many teams wouldn't trade their last 7 years for ours? Perhaps the Dodgers, but their sole WS win was in a gimmick 60-game season and tourney. It's own asterisk derision. Every other team is jealous of us.
  12. Atanta pitches a lot different and with a whole lot more pressure if up only 1-0, or even 2-0.
  13. It's almost as if reality caught up to a GM that did little for glaring pitching needs since taking over until some mediocre moves at the trade deadline. To be fair, some of those pitchers have really stepped up in the post-season. The team has gotten farther than I expected with this pitching roster. But it is rare for a team to win a title by hitting their way to overcome a mediocre staff. Bats are going to go cold at times at the top level of a WS. And Strom can only do so much with what he's given. I've said all season that Click looked to be building a team that could make the playoffs, not win a title. He got closer than I expected, but ultimately it still seems true. The better trade deadline GM looks to be taking home a trophy tonight. Not over yet. We'll see.
  14. Well, he did save us from a grand slam....
  15. Please, Luis, save us from a Raley grand slam.
  16. Major kudos to MLBnet for just doing a Marwin/Denny Walling comparison, including the mandatory stache pic.
  17. Be sure to remind your Dodgers acquaintances that Urquidy now has 3 World Series wins, Fernando still just 1.
  18. Manfred (temporarily) breathes a huge sigh of relief....
