  1. Pretty sure that isn't the old Mizzou poster. The old Mizzou is still here (under a new name), still posting voluminously, and still the professional muleheaded contrarian.
  2. Screen cap from the intro video of the runner up name: "Rename? I think I'll go with... ...the Cleveland Cardigans."
  3. He'll probably forge a new Gentleman's Agreement: The sports teams rebrand as Texas A&M-Dubai. "We want to be the only SEC program representing the world!"
  4. They aren't leaving unless the B1G offers. Monday is just a sternly worded brief debriefing briefing.
  5. From the comments section of the Frank the Wank blog (some may remember it from the previous rounds of realignment), perhaps a Neb board originated the USC/Oregon/UCLA/Colo approaching the B1G rumor. So maybe some interesting tidbits, or maybe fan fiction crap: https://frankthetank.org/2021/07/21/red-river-realignment-texas-and-oklahoma-talk-to-the-sec/ wscsuperfan From a Nebraska message board. Take it FWIW: ——————————————————- If you recall, back in February the Third Wiseman came in with a report that the BIG expansion sub-committee had met for the first time in almost 24 months… Today he checked back in with all the happenings… “Amazing few months on the expansion front. Earlier this year I told you how the BIG had started looking again at expansion as a viable model and was examining potential targets. What I hadn’t gone into was “why” that it had started to emerge as a hot topic. The genesis of that was a report that predicted the impact of the Streaming Services on broadcast rights and the desire of Amazon and Apple to dominate these areas over the next decade. With these new players emerging the belief is that ultimately college football will be controlled by super conferences outside of the control of the NCAA–and that “first movers” in the efforts to re-vamp expansion will reap big rewards–as they will have de-facto control over this rapidly changing environment. In late March, the BIG was contacted by The Montag Group who presented the concept of Texas and Oklahoma joining the BIG. The Montag Group now has Jim Delany as a partner, so this shouldn’t be all that surprising. However, what was surprising is that the BIG was not immediately receptive to this idea–mainly because they felt that Oklahoma was not a good fit academically and from a research perspective—and as they weren’t an AAU member they didn’t enhance the vision that the BIG has for the future of new expansion candidates. Texas is clearly the prize in that twosome, but they felt they would/could only move with Oklahoma as a partner—so despite the BIG’s interest in the Longhorns the combination was too much for them to swallow. Where it gets interesting now–however—is the interest of some PAC schools who see the writing on the wall and are desperately clawing for a spot with one of the mega conferences. So who does this mean? Well it means Oregon, Colorado, UCLA and USC are all VERY interested…..and all have made direct overtures to the BIG about membership….. all four of them are AAU Members—all have fine research credentials and more than solid athletic programs. This would also complete Delany’s dream of BIG football from “coast to coast”…. stay tuned as a LOT will be breaking in the very near future….”
  6. Forget the rigid scheduling format and go to pods + NFL style scheduling for the other 5 or 6 conf games. Just add the caveat of you must play every school at least once every 3 years, but otherwise you play your pod annually and then the rest is adjusted to maximize tv appeal and for strength of schedule based on prior year's finish. Has the flexibility to accommodate cross pod annual rivalries while not wasting games on artificial out of pod annual rivalry matchups that no one actually cares much about. Maximizes tv revenue so we get more high-profile contests per year.
  7. Looks like the opening to a 70's sitcom, WKRP knockoff. Though seriously, I applaud Cleveland's promotion of the Human Pamplona Virus vaccine.
  8. Looks like Billy goat ate too many tin cans.
  9. Corby the sports moron actually talked about this? I kept checking in to 1310 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm and never heard anything about the story, and barely any sports. Mostly just a bunch of Corby's lame takes on music.
  10. Just started listening to Big 12 Radio on SiriusXM yesterday, and holy hell is Dave Archer a lazy, clueless, brickhead. Claims the move is only about money and that there's no recruiting advantage, despite having it painfully explained to him by the cohost. "I've got 2 words that disproves the recruiting argument. Clem Son."
  11. I think TCU, Kansas, and maybe ISU are more likely to get any ACC invite than WVU.
  12. I think that's Tuesday on the other side of the Int'l Date Line.
  13. Since this feels like the start of the move to a cfb league(s), the smartest thing the B1G could do is offer 6 or 7 Pac schools and aTm. Not sure if the GOR would block, but would probably lead to the B1G and SEC raiding the best of the ACC. Creating their only real chance to nab ND. 2 leagues that pull up the drawbridge at 48 teams max. Because if they don't, there's a risk that the SEC now can lure Ohio State (remember their ChiComFlu battle with the B1G leadership?), the dam breaks, and the SEC+ becomes the sole CFB pro league with maybe just 30 or 32 teams. I think a neat 4x16 ending is pretty unlikely now. Because of recruiting, aTm might loudly flirt but wouldn't normally jump to the B1G, but might if we are heading to just 2 leagues.
  14. Saw some non-SEC fans whining about the SEC taking 'The Texas that killed off the SWC and now the B12.' If we kill off the SEC, we'll be the hero of the rest of CFB.
  15. Raid of parts of the P12 by the B10.
  16. I completely get the logic, which is why I wasn't really surprised. But it still feels like we are joining the cartels. Silver lining: I like most of our B12 schools (and thus hate what this could potentially do to them), so in contrast will enjoy still always wanting to make every SEC school cry.
  17. I'm certain that when I'm pretty sure I'm actually pretty sure, and would never consider jumping a drawbridge. Meanwhile, Uran out of steam.
  18. I'm waiting for Gaudu to take the lead.
