  1. The main guy from the company looked exactly like Chet after he was turned into shit in Weird Science.
  2. Anatomy of a Fall. Didn’t love it. It’s too long and the resolution wasn’t awesome.
  3. What a bunch of morons. “I never thought that signing up for AM would be the worst mistake of my life.” Really? Never?
  4. Got damn murderers row at Rodeo Bar downtown Dallas.
  5. American Fiction is worth your time. Caught it on a flight. Jeffrey Wright is hilarious and touching, it’s great.
  6. I’m cool with clean sheets for both
  7. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/40157256/man-citys-ederson-ruled-title-decider-fa-cup-final
  8. It’s a winner. They recently changed the bottle and label which was a little confusing last time I saw it on the shelf.
  9. They are based in Austin right?
  10. Be honest. You have to get song and artist. I missed 8, but there were only two where I didn’t know song or artist.
  11. What that little fan film shows is that a good story with good dialogue competently delivered really is the key. I didn’t mind the budget production or the no name actors at all. In fact sometimes no name actors can help with the immersion.
  12. I didn’t expect to watch the whole thing but it was good. It still seems like too small of a story with no real major outcome for a film.
  13. Caught it on a recent flight too. Didn’t know much about the story or the tragedy so didn’t expect it to be so sad but it was really well done. I thought Holt and Mara stole the show. The tiny low res screen on the plane added to the feel.
  14. I only made it through part of Kevin Hart’s opening routine at the podium and I found it kind of forced and awkward. Might give it another shot.
  15. That’s a good point. Aren’t there some similar plants that are starting to gain traction? Even some stuff grown in Texas? Btw tonight’s pour is Lalo. Been really enjoying that blanco lately. $40 or so.
  16. Blanco/repo for me. I don’t particularly care for anejo and older. When I started drinking additive free stuff it changed the game for me. I can’t really drink the vanilla bombs any more. So many places have shitty tequila selections and when I’m at those places I usually just get Patron. The weirdest one to me is cristallinos. I have no idea why you would want to submit aged tequila to a process to remove the color. That said, I do like the Dobel Diamanté which is not additive-free and it’s a cristallino. So I’m not hard and fast about anything. One good thing about the current tequila boom: it shouldn’t get as crazy as bourbon did. Even “old” tequila is pretty young, so ramping up production can be done much more quickly. I’m hoping Fortaleza becomes findable again but there are plenty of other good ones in the mean time.
  17. There’s not much in the in-between spaces in Georgia. You might consider spending more time on the coast. Hilton Head Island is worth a stop.
  18. Savannah is very pretty and historic. Augusta is a dump. Athens is a fairly cookie cutter college town. Unfortunately UGA is there. Atlanta is like a greener, prettier Dallas. Very spread out.
  19. I’m happy to live in a world where MNS keeps plugging away. Once in a while it pays off. The Visit and Split were good.
  20. Four days at the Encore this week. Very nice room but $50 craps tables is a turnoff. Hasalon (Venetian) is very good and unique. It’s pretty new from an Israeli chef. One of the best tomahawk ribeyes I’ve ever had and lots of uniquely named and delicious dishes. The beets, ceviche, okra and branzino were standouts. Chica (Venetian) has pretty good birria tacos and a legit tequila selection. Bouchon (Venetian) was really good for a nice breakfast. Somehow I’d never been there. The Sphere is incredible. I took a bunch of customers to the Postcard From Earth show, and had a big grin on my face the whole time. I can’t wait to see a concert there.
  21. For me it’s Chevelle’s first album. So raw.
