  1. I made on offer on a car over the weekend. I was dealing with an out of state dealership over email. Their price was $55K, and I offered $52K. Specifically I wrote, “I am ready to move forward at $52,000 + your doc fee + my local taxes, out the door with the 2.09% financing. If that works, please let me know what you need for the deposit/down payment and the credit app.” To which he replied, “I'd like to be the first to tell you congratulations! the next step is to get you qualified for the special rate and collect a non-refundable partial payment to take this off the market. You can complete the financing application by going to the following website:” etc. Since then it has become apparent that he misread my email and assumed I had agreed to the $55K. He says he has no room to move on the price. He asked how close I can get to the $55K, but I said he has my offer and if he wants to counter he can. I like the car, and low mileage examples that are similarly equipped are hard to find (the next closest is 800 miles away). The manager left me a voicemail but I’ve had some travel this week and haven’t called him. I’m trying to decide if I want to deal with them or not.
  2. Good question. I think my 14 year old would enjoy it but probably wouldn’t understand it fully until he was older.
  3. Baylon is the most interesting element of the show, and the only one that doesn’t rely heavily on the cask-strength member berry juice they’ve been slinging around lately. I’m genuinely interested in what he’s up to. And we finally saw her blink. I was also surprised they rolled out Thrawn and Ezra in the same episode. Ship/troopers/Thrawn all looked pretty awesome.
  4. It’s on Netflix now in case somehow you’ve never seen it (or just want to see it again).
  5. Seems like she represents 2023 America pretty well to me.
  6. With ATL as home base I’m pretty much beholden to Delta. This has caused quite the blowback so far but I’m waiting for the dust to settle. I’m Platinum and already Platinum for next year, so I’ll keep my Reserve AMEX card for Skyclub access through 2024 and then wait and see what they do. They’ve already said that you will keep Skyclub access if you spend $75K per year on the CC (a number my wife laughs at) so I’m more interested in what happens with medallion status. I get pretty frequent Comfort+ and occasional First upgrades even living in Atlanta where everyone has some level of status. But this is what the Skyclub complainers wanted. They bitched about crowded Skyclubs and now they bitch that Delta has done something about it. It’s a bit of a FAFO moment.
  7. If DFW still does curbside that might be enough for me to switch.
  8. Good day, except for the result for the bees. The Grove was all that I imagined and more.
  9. Looks cool but I need something walkable from the park
  10. They’ve done something similar at ATL so I guess it’s a trend.
  11. I’m not sure how you “fix” executive compensation. You have to assume that there are good CEOs (I believe there are some) and as long as the market will bear their compensation packages then they will continue to receive them. If you make it illegal to make too much money then they will go do something else or take all their companies private. But I don’t like growth-at-all-costs corporatism so maybe I’m on to something.
  12. All fair. But they are being compelled to shift to EVs which they are currently losing money on, and so doubling their labor costs right now is a real problem.
  13. Maybe the DNC is activating a plan to keep both Biden and Trump off the 2024 ballot.
  14. I appreciate your idealism but they are all crooks. To one extent or another.
  15. Also Shawn Fain was asked on CNBC if execs lowered their pay would he be satisfied and he said no. So it’s kinda separate issues.
  16. The OEMs have offered 17-20 percent, the UAW is asking for mid-30s. I’m not a union guy and Shawn Fain seems like a dirtbag, but this strike seems a little like the actors strike in some ways. Complaining about AI and EVs is like candle makers complaining about light bulbs.
