  1. Here is my list of activities to do in NYC since I have no where else to share it: Cheap & Fun: Central Park The MET Natural History Museum Restaurants (my personal favorites, first things that come to mind): Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte Midtown East (they only serve steak and frites, that's it. like $35 for a full course including salad, two servings of steak, and two servings of fries.) Minetta Tavern (good burger) Pastis (great burger) Cafe Reggio (nice cafe, open late) Lucien (French food, decent spot, trendy though so annoying people go to eat there) Raku (the one on MacDougal) uluh (good Sichuan spot) Spot Dessert Bar (dessert bar on St. Marks) Little Poland (beef goulash is great) Bars (barely go out anymore but these places are fun): Sake Bar Decibal (underground Japanese bar) Studio 151 (Japanese jazz bar, $20 cover) Generally can go out anywhere in the LES or East Village, but those two came to mind as places I enjoy the most. Would try and avoid midtown / Times Square area, but understand people like to visit just to see it. Personally biased to the Upper East Side, but I'm boring. Enjoy and be safe!
  2. food for thought. we used to build like crazy in this country. look at China and how quickly they've developed their infrastructure. i truly hope in my lifetime we see Texas connected with super highspeed rail. imagine being able to connect from Houston to Dallas in under 3 hours - the economic gains would be monumental. i don't get the arguments that texas is too big, or we can't do this or that - it sounds so defeatist. it doesnt matter how large Texas or the U.S. is, we can still build, and these corridors that are too long to drive but too short to fly make it perfect for trains. the argument of profitability is nonsense - airliners are the worst industries in the world, they're all unprofitable, they're basically government-owned entities at this point but they exist because humans need transportation.
  3. It's how I was conceived. This is a good point
  4. Desperately need to win today. I do want Judge to do well, I'm not giving up on him. Yankees in 7.
  5. I haven't met anyone who has ever cared about the region, and people in my immediate purview generally would rather just nuke the entire region and be done with it than take the time to read something they could care less about. If you have spent delicate time with the region, then I do appreciate it a lot. Just not something I was ever used to growing up. Sorry if I came off as a prick Interesting point above. Idk if he's sick but there is a big thing of succession going on under him, curious how that all plays out. Also Iran under the Shah was very close to Israel, but even the Shah had some choice thoughts and ideas lol. I'll leave it at that. I'm gonna get eaten alive in this thread
  6. Had more coffee - also yes, you can have a take or opinion even if you have 0 connection, who gives a shit. I'm just being a weenie.
  7. what are your opinions on ted kaczynski? being semi-serious (the wildlife is absolutely beautiful btw)
  8. I was just referring to people in general, didn’t mean for it to be taken personally. I said that too because most people don’t care about the Middle East. And why would they? I don’t blame them, they have no personal connection to the region, so I won’t bore anyone with random minutiae. No one here will ever read Islamic Republic by Ayatollah Khomenei, no one will look into the details of Israel selling Iran weapons during the Iran-Iraq war, or the long and important history of the Jewish people in Iran. Hell, even the 8th President of Israel was an Iranian lol… Jalal Al-e-Ahmad once said that Iran and Israel aren’t opposing countries. They’re in concert. But anyway, apologies for causing any offense. Didn’t mean it that way.
  9. Coming as someone with a bit of background in this - I don't think most people will ever understand the relationship Iran and Israel has, and it's above a lot of people's cognitive ability and pay grade. The public conjecture between Israel and Iran is usually just to feed the masses. What goes on in private is indicative of why these back and forth strikes have been so precise and calculated between the two, rather than say, the bombings in Lebanon that effectively flattened a portion of Beirut. An Israeli-Iran war is very unlikely.
  10. This freaking blows. RIP Yankees. Going to be an absolute pain to dig out of this, if we even can. Game 2 almost hurt more than Game 1 because at least we had hunger in our eyes. Game 2 was just completely mailed in. So sad to see this happen and also watch Judge's legacy go down the tube.
  11. I'm sorry but that loss was pretty embarrassing, especially after being ranked #1. That was our first real game and OU doesn't count because they suck. Georgia didn't even play well last night and it was so frustrating how Carson can throw ints and we can't even capitalize on it. Just brutal stuff. Arch needed to be put in earlier, because at the rate we were going, it wouldn't have even mattered. The one thing that really gets me mad about Quinn is he always has this confused, nervous look on his face. Does he not know whats going on? Like come on man. Jesus Christ. It's just sad.
  12. Screamed last night when I saw that homer from Soto. He's worth every penny, and we need to give him a blank check. Absolutely amazing and one of the best acquisitions we've made. Stanton has also played like an absolute beast this post season. He came in clutch many times. Saw this stat online: In his postseason career vs Cleveland Stanton has 8 hits - all home runs. This series he went 4/18 - 4 home runs, 7 rbi. Stanton, Judge, Soto. Doesn't get much better than that. As fun as a mets v. yankees series would be, the east coast vs. west coast yankees / dodgers WS would be crazy, and I do want to see Ohtanti in the WS - he's incredible and it would be fun to watch him play against the Yankees. With all that being said, so excited for the WS.
  13. UT is literally the perfect school. You're in Austin and are one of the biggest brands in college. On top of that, you got the smart kids who pull their weight and make the school top-tier and then absolute goons who aren't all that bright, but man, can they party. Perfect mix of kids, and a lot of range. God bless UT.
  14. Fuck Georgia. Associate that hosed me at my old firm was a UGA guy. This is personal.
