  1. Patience, my friend. The dark days may be behind us.
  2. Good bye, good luck, and thanks for the spot for Luke
  3. Ag hoc seems like a great descriptor of the nature of all their decisions and actions
  4. Yeah, he was probably misquoted. He said Chipotle was for shit. Next version of "telephone" had it as "chipotle is the shit," followed by "Chipotle is the best." By the time his gf typed it into his twitter, the meaning had changed a bit.
  5. They won't be calling for their king and savior in the first 2 games. They will be celebrating their season of destiny. Statement wins over Abilene Christian and North Texas wlil be followed by a P5 triumph over Colorado. The fourth game of their SEC *partially Grind will be a close win over traditional rival Arkansas, running the win streak over the Hogs to 947. The October losses when they travel to MSU, come home for Fresno State, and go on the road again at Auburn and USCe, those will herald the calling for the coming of the king.
  6. They are putting up video game numbers. We have no idea how easily they will score if we take something away from them, because they have 3 RBs averaging over 8 YPC and a QB who has thrown for over 15 yards per attempt and averages one TD every 7 throws (spreading them to 6 different receivers). Our best chance, IMO, to win is to be the stereotypical Herman team-- tough for every second of a big game. Show their new starters and remind the upperclassmen how brutal the game of football can be. It works to our benefit in this regard that they haven't yet played anyone with a pulse. Scheme and execution matter, but if they feel like tapping out, even if only here and there, we are more than half-way to a win.
  7. With Demas apparently bought in and Evans possibly out of other $uitable places to land, they may just generate enough excitement with the "and friends" part of their "2020: cubes, bread, and friends" class to get the roller coaster back up to appropriate starting height in the offseason.
  8. Clemson has looked meh, but their "C" game is likely good enough to get them wins against the rest of their slate. I agree with the sentiment above that they are likely in the PO but not the champ again. Bama- top ranked, controls its destiny, has the cache to get in with an "L," has three significant opponents in LSU, Auburn, UGA (presumably). tOSU- also undefeated and in control of its destiny. Not all cupcakes, though, and mediocre teams sometimes upset strong rivals. OU- is in if they run the table. I don't think that will happen. Would be a strong contender if they split with us in the order they did last year. LSU/Auburn- control their destiny in that if either somehow ran the table, they get the spot reserved for Bama. LSU has a small chance to do this, Auburn only former Heisman QB-sized chance. SEC's best chance for 2 slots is for one of these to go, along with a 1-loss Bama who almost beat them. UGA- a CCG loss would be too late to redeem, even if the rest of their resume is in order. Their best chance in that case would be if the B12 and B10 champs had 2 losses each. ND- will be near the front of the line of 1-loss teams if they play well. Close loss on the road to UGA can be spun different directions depending on who is still playing musical chairs come December. PSU/Wisc- probably not getting in without beating tOSU. If somehow PSU beat the nuts to win the East, that could set up a UT-OU-Tech 08 between Wiscy, PSU, and tOSU. Therefore a very slim chance for Wisc to lose to the couch burners but still advance as a 1-loss conference champion. Pac- just no. Unless Washington starts disintegrating opponents with laser beams after scoring touchdowns, this is too big of a clown show. Texas- running the table would be difficult and unlikely. Not unthinkable, though, as of yet. The temptation to include a 1-loss UT on an 11-game winning streak would probably be too much for the committee. Any more losses, though, and we're out. I don't see anyone else even mathematically alive at this point. Florida has a chance to play cockroach, though.
  9. Time to start the R McCombs Make-a-Wish-for-an-Athlete foundation.
  10. I'll admit to not paying really close attention to Tech lately. Wow, did not realize it was that bad at QB.
  11. if Jett is going to be your guy, if you want there to be some hope and trust in your guy, and you know OU is going to face rape you, maybe you throw a fall guy out there before making Jett the starter.
  12. I know this is going to sound revolutionary, but I have a related idea. Let people who feel like wasting time and clicks on bad threads do so. Let people who want it have an option to "ignore thread" or "mark all future entries read" and just don't read or complain.
  13. The CFP seems to be Bama, Clemson, and 2 of ND, B10 champ, B12 champ, and SEC at-large. If either or both of OU/tOSU win out, their tickets are punched. The question arises in the event that one of those teams, Bama, or (highly unlikely) Clemson stumbles. There are 7 important losses to be attributed in the SEC that will help to determine how attractive an at-large CFP representative it can field. Two groups of 3 must be distributed 1-1-1 or 0-1-2 (in no particular order) among Bama, LSU, and Auburn and among UGA, UF, and Auburn. One more loss added in the CCG, most likely (but far from certainly) to UGA by Bama. Auburn is uniquely positioned to play every SEC title pretender/contender this year in the regular season, starting Saturday against UF. At this point, Auburn is a de facto top 3 team in both divisions but only eligible to advance to the CCG based on how it does versus its West opponents.
  14. That's not a bad overall percentage. If it keeps up, he will have a contract with a casino soon.
  15. I can’t speak for anyone else. I don’t hate Charlie. I’m not the sort to bear grudges against individuals. But this is a site where we mock those who stand in the way, or even seek or wish to do so, of Texas. We mock people because they look funny, go to A&M, fumble a ball in a game, or any number of other reasons. Strong has so many and so clear examples in his past of standing in the way of Texas Football success that it would be the greatest of curiosities were there no ongoing conversation in standard surly fashion. Whether through incompetence, cosmically unbelievably (literally) bad luck, or whatever, he failed to fix what was his job to fix. And he broke what it was his job not to break. And he has the temerity to continue to draw a massive unneeded and undeserved paycheck. Bob Knight refused his pay one year when he felt his work wasn’t up to par. Not that I’d expect Charlie to do it. No, he is getting exactly what he signed on for, including here. If it puzzles you, you aren’t thinking clearly enough.
  16. It may end up a little closer if they go hard after we pull the starters, but we will be way out in front in Q3
  17. We needed a coach real bad, and we got a real bad coach.
  18. Upside: it might be fun to watch; it would attract national attention as a “historic rivalry” and SEC matchup. Downside: they will bleat irrespective of how frequently, recently, or badly we have beaten them; they will cheap-shot our guys; It is hard to imagine a less interesting or enjoyable town to visit for road games; we get no credit for beating them; we already have scoreboard on those ovocopulants from the greatest game- and series-ending kick for which we could wish
  19. Yes, there are. Sometimes the anatomic deficiency is clear and amenable to treatment such as a well-defined Bankart lesion. Sometimes capsuloligamentous structures are attenuated less focally and the surgery trades risk of loss of some range of motion for reduced risk of dislocation by tightening up the anterior joint capsule. For a young male athlete, a lot of orthopedists would pursue surgery after just one dislocation.
  20. My best guess is that Green’s injury is actually an AC separation (like Sam had last year) based on my recollection of watching the play on which he was hurt. If I’m wrong and it is a “true shoulder” (glenohumeral) dislocation, Green would be at such risk as well.
  21. Once a man that young has a shoulder dislocation (not AC separation as in most of the “dislocations” that have come up lately), he is at high risk to go on to recurrent dislocations. Bummer for the guy.
  22. CDC playing 4D chess. If our AD and HFC come out publicly in favor of the game, they virtually assure that the aggy masses will refuse to let it happen.
  23. Let us hope that Auburn shits in the punch bowl by beating UGA.
