  1. Only if he can stay close enough to be in-frame.
  2. Value is inherently subjective. The US government and others have variously had confiscation programs for, among other items, gold and weapons. What one chooses to use as an investment, a store of value, a hedge, or a medium of exchange is really based on assumptions about how likely certain events are. As the man said, predicting is difficult, especially when you're talking about the future. If you think civilization will hang on somehow, there are many non-survivalist-nut options. Otherwise, it almost doesn't matter. You can't possibly stash enough to make yourself impervious to raiding-- there are literally billions of other humans out there, with only a very small fraction needed to overwhelm your guns, cameras, dried food, water filter, off-grid power, etc.
  3. Am I crazy to think "corrections" should themselves be correct? Probably so-- I'm sorry.
  4. Is there some clever play on David Boren University that my unfunny brain refuses to dream up?
  5. Mookie has decommitted and then no-showed. We should neither pursue nor accept further contact. He would merely be interfering with a recruitment that had an actual nonzero chance of resulting in later on-field results for Texas.
  6. With his handle, I hope his brother isn’t named Thomas.
  7. Sounds like they want to see how well some disc material resorbs on its own as demonstrated by repeat MRI. Unless I have the Friday stupids, there shouldn't be any other change that a picture will show that will mean anything, barring a surgery.
  8. I think it is fair to ask, should we fail to land either Broughton or Collins, whether there is in fact any recruiting failure catastrophic enough to convince Herman that Giles is not suited for his current job.
  9. Fair enough. I don't pretend inside knowledge of how much each coach does. My impression, though, is that based on the "Jimmys and Joes" rule, a TE coach generally needs to bring more to the table than "developing" an electric HS RB into a receiver who runs like an RB after the catch. I will also grant that Beck really helped us with his play last year, however.
  10. We can only hope that Herman dares to look for another human being (could one exist?) who not only knows some coaches in the Houston area but can actually recruit and develop players.
  11. I think we agree. I was not advocating dropping Beck now or later, just imagining how nice it would be not to be dependent on a non-playcalling OC as our ace recruiter.
  12. I think the recruiter ratings attributed to Meh are all the excuse Herman will require of himself to keep Meh around. I would like to think that he will be critical enough in evaluating his own regime to see that he has kept some weak links well past any advantage or obligation. Senior administration may not have enough understanding of what goes into making a football program, but CDC should and is paid to be Herman's advisor and boss in this regard. Loyalty and continuity are great, but the corollary of retaining every one who desires to be retained based on the fact that the program is moving forward would be that it basically has to crash before any personnel adjustments whatsoever are made. The DL and RB (LB?) recruiting have been a painful exception to generally good results. CDC/Herman need to look at the recruiting dead weight and jettison at least half of it, ideally all. Even if there are some good on-the-field coaches in that group, CDC/TH need to demand that members of his coaching staff at one of the top football schools in existence bring, as a rule, more than half of the core competencies for their respective jobs to the table. I'm OK with keeping Beck for now. Perhaps no great shakes as an in-game play-caller, he does very well what nowhere near enough other guys do yet. It would be nice a year from now to be able to look at him and ask whether we want to "waste" an OC spot for a recruiter, but the time to ask is not now, especially with TH apparently a good option to run things on Saturdays.
  13. A good salesman/recruiter will flip the script on negative recruiting. I'm just not confident that coffee is for Giles.
  14. There are a couple of foot injuries that can be non-contact. Turf toe isn’t necessarily serious but can linger and nag. Lisfranc less common, potentially big deal if missed or mistreated. Stress fracture normally from doing too much too quickly after doing too little. Most likely though is a fifth metatarsal base fracture. Happens similarly to ankle sprains and fractures. With surgery now, may be good to go for fall camp.
  15. University parking enforcement personnel, not just UT, seem largely to be picked from the crowd too hardened against feelings for their fellow men to make it as Neo-Nazi heavies.
  16. Reggie is telling these players that Urbs will be there to oversee the national championships very soon
  17. It is all one clause with a compound predicate.
  18. The MOB is full of people who are so smart, they are surprised and delighted to learn that football players at an academically rigorous institution don’t, in the aggregate, average much better than a B- in a good year. This tells us not just how smart the MOB is, it also helps demonstrate the insecurities they mask by consoling themselves with their SAT scores.
  19. Yeah, the whole chivalry— buy your date’s ticket— is a fine idea. Your choices are to be seated like students or to pony up for “I’m spoiling a lady” seats like a southern gentleman and be seated accordingly.
  20. Best case he takes an SEC E gig, damages the SEC brand even further, and leaves aggy twisting.
  21. All visits either split among 2 schools or mid-week. Except LSU.
