  1. It's the reason no one seriously touches welfare, food stamps, etc. It sells good to bitch about but as long as the masses are pacified, they'll put up with most anything.
  2. People will put up with a lot if they still have cheap food and cheap entertainment.
  3. Joe C is prolly one of the best and most respected AD's in the country. Venables was a reasonably good hire at the time. With Moser and the men's basketball, I don't know if that program is salvageable at this point. There is only so much basketball fan demand in the state and once the Thunder showed up and started doing well, the fan support of both programs basically got cut in half. Moving out of the Big 12 will help OU but you're still playing in front of 1/4 full arenas. They are top tier in almost every other sport.
  4. What year was that again? I doubt that starting back court would both start today for a title contender.
  5. Everything about this OU offense is complete ass. BV has one season left and he knows it. JA completely sucks.
  6. Well, they already signed Van Fleet, who is generously listed at 6'0". (I wouldn't have done that.) That being considered, I wouldn't have draft a "SG" that is generously listed at 6'2". With both of them being that small, you basically can't play them at the same time. Also, a 6'2" SG isn't a thing. If there is a good one out there, I could be missing it. Basically, the guy the took at #3 can't be on the floor at the same time as they guy they just signed to be the starting PG. Oh, wait, they signed that undersized PG for 3 years and $130M. Lulz. I know it was a weak draft but I would have taken anyone else but him.
  7. On drafting Reed Sheppard #3, I am not a fan of undersized players. If they're undersized, they need to be elite or borderline elite. (Steph, Dame, Kyrie, etc.) They're always going to be at a disadvantage on defense so you'd better be elite on the other end. Nothing about Sheppard says he'll be anywhere close to borderline elite. Sure, she can shoot but so can Isiah Joe and OKC got him off the free agent wire and he's 6'5" and athletic and can defend multiple positions. OKC found some guy named Ajay Mitchell in the second round and he's quite frankly a better prospect. NBA body, athletic, can guard multiple positions, good shooter. Meanwhile, Houston has a whole background full of undersized guys. Even at forward, they have this Amen Thompson. He seems OK but he's a non stretch 4 and is only 6'7" and 200. That's basically a guard sized body.
  8. Wow. Who could have seen that coming? See ya next season, big man.
  9. I guess I missed him because he was too small. That’s another thing I noticed. Size relative to position on the wing players. Every single one of OKC’s players were taller and/or longer. Jabari Smith might be 6’10” but he plays like he’s 6’4”. Totally overwhelmed by Jalen Williams, who has freakishly long arms. Houston’s core three of Green, Sengun, and Smith are each at least a tier below their OKC counterpart of SGA, Chet, and JW. Glad Houston locked down Green and Sengun into long term deals. Good thing they blew their #3 pick on….an undersized guard.
  10. I was at the game. OKC is better than Houston at every position. Everyone said they should have taken Sengun. Maybe. Chet is better. Sengun would be the fourth best on OKC’s roster. Rockets guards are all small and they drafted an even smaller one. Houston was down like 25 or something and I noticed that Reed still hadn’t hit the floor. Oh, another #3 pick (Jabari Smith) had 4 points. They have a #1 pick and two #3’s and this is what they are. Glad they gave Sengun and Green all that money. Green went 5-14. Sengun went 3-12. Roster is a bunch of undersized guys and some B players paid like A’s. M
  11. This Houston team kinda sucks and Reed Sheppard sucks so much that he can’t get off the bench. Helluva pick, Houston.
  12. Placeholder for what happens to the Dearborn Caucus...
  13. Well, half of California is still out as of the time stamp on that tweet. Also a combo of lower turnout of some Dem groups an some voters voting Trump. Do you realize that Trump had a bigger increase from 2016 to 2020 than Biden had over Hillary's total?
  14. They also say there's a "marriage crisis" or women don't want to get married. There isn't a marriage crisis. Women just don't want to marry them. If I were single, I could be married in six months.
  15. On the Dearborn Caucus, I can't wait for them to ask for free legal work like that did last time and Jewish attorney be like, "Um, no."
  16. Who wants to tell him?
  17. I remember after Dobbs, there was a poll that said like 25% of the people blamed Biden for abortion going away. Some voters really are that stupid.
  18. This is likely true. Whitman would prolly win with a few others in between. Harris is not a good retail pol and it's because she came up through CA where she didn't have to be.
  19. As a Gen X'er, my entire life in my teens and 20's was getting girls. It's what motivated me to do everything from get a car, have money, go to college, get a better job, etc. I wanted girls or better girls. Now, for whatever reason, these young boys aren't motivated to get a girl. My theory is that it's porn. While they still may have the urges, they don't know how to talk to an actual girl. They have a sexual and economic entitlement and when they can't get laid and see women doing better, they get angry. I'll be a conservative here for a second. After porn, another factor is the lack of real father figures and as a result, you learn about "masculinity" from some dickhead on a podcast.
  20. This should be required listening. It's not just going on in America.
  21. Correct. I keep saying this.
  22. The problem was that Biden didn't have the foresight to see that he was a one term president. After the midterms, he should have announced he wasn't going to run and they'd have a resulting primary. My guess is Whitmer would have won that.
  23. This. No one in the media will say it gender was a factor. (Not THE factor.) There is misogyny across the political spectrum. The Hillary people said in 2016 it was a 3-5 point drag and that's a big deal in a national race. There are voters out there who voted for a great male candidate in Obama, an unknown candidate in Trump, a mediocre candidate in Biden, and a crazy candidate in Trump. The only variable is gender.
  24. I'm not wrong, though. All of their state wide people are millionaire cosplay cowboys.
  25. I like how people in Montana think of themselves of cowboy types who don't like outsiders (there's even a TV show about it) but their governor and two senators are now out of state millionaires.
