  1. I guess people will now forget about the debate, am I right?
  2. Now we have two candidates with something in their brain. Trump with a bullet and RFK Jr with a worm.
  3. Simple. There just needs to be a good guy with a gun there to protect him, right?
  4. Like Ann Arbor, the weather. I can handle winters in the NE but Michigan, Chicago, Minny, etc., no. I'll plug some more for Northwest Arkansas. The place is basically a bougie Mayberry. Zero crime or homeless people. Also, people are very friendly and welcoming being that everyone moved there last week or something. Not provincial or territorial at all. Downside is that it's still a small market and not close to another city at all. Closest "major" cities are KC and OKC and those are three hours away. Great outdoor options. Not cheap anymore, at least the places you'd want to be. That ship sailed. Another downside is 30 minutes in either direction, you're in the real Arkansas.
  5. A city that I gave honorable mention to was Ann Arbor. Hits all the metrics. 30 minutes from a major airport and downtown Detroit has things going on. But the winters? Bruh.
  6. Thanks. Good feedback. I have more exposure to Nashville and Scottsdale and I'd agree with all that. The last time we were in Nashville, it was hot/humid AF. Laughed at the "margarita moms." For some reason, it and Scottsdale are ground zero for gal group trips. As for Denver, I've heard it's a sausage fest, like you said. Buncha dudes wearing flannel or Patagonia. I'm married so that's not a huge issue but if I were single, hard no, which would lead to.... Scottsdale, hard yes on that front. Rich MILFy types everywhere. If I were 55+ and single, I'd set up shop there and latch on to some rich divorcee/widow. You're right about the property taxes, though. If the Zillow Machine is right, a $1.5 to $2M house is only about $2K in taxes...? Is it because they don't have a huge budget for schools due to everyone being someone's nana and papa? What part of Scottsdale did you live in? If I were to do Denver, I'd live there for a few months in an AirBnb first. With the other two, I'm familiar enough already but Denver is interesting because there seems to be a love/hate thing going on.
  7. She should have had regular press conferences in front of his shuttered casinos.
  8. Hillary ran a shitty campaign and treated him with kid gloves because she was afraid of offending his supporters.
  9. Nothing. Had Hillary been like this, she'd be president today. Donald Trump is a fraud at everything he's done in life and was literally pitching for Godfather's Pizza before he got a reality show. Hillary was too polite.
  10. I don't care about his age or health but if he's down for scorched earth, so am I. Let's Fucking Go.
  11. If Biden goes scorched earth on Trump between now and then, I'm down. I don't care if he's tired. I don't care about his schedule. Whip that horse down the stretch. If he dies, he dies. I don't care. Biden signed up for this. Do it.
  12. Where the fuck has this been? Had Hillary gone hard like his, she'd be president today.
  13. The unknown variable for most (if not all) of us is future health care. @Ghost of LL touched on it earlier but he had trouble finding specialists in Austin, which is a +2M person market. I know here it's damn near impossible. I've needed a neurologist and a GI doctor in the last five years and they were like six months out. Sure, they're here but there are like 2 of them or something. Those aren't wild specialties, either. I know people here that go to Dallas, OKC, Houston, etc, for fairly routine things. That's one reason he was going to NYC, which has everything. I know Nashville is legit for health care and I'm pretty sure about Denver and Phoenix. (I could be wrong.)
  14. That’s disrespectful and unacceptable. If he wants to be the leader of the party then lead the party,
  15. There was a Santa Fe thread on here at one point that said while it's nice and all, it's a small town and everyone is either rich or poor with no in between. It's just too small for me either way.
  16. We have friends who are retiring permanently to Spain. It was never on my radar until meeting them. They love it. Said the weather is much better than the rest of Europe, it's cheaper, pretty, easy flights back, and most people speak English and if they don't, it's Spanish which they can work through. Also, they've talked about getting a euro citizenship or something through Portugal because it's easier that way. I don't know the details.
  17. Same. They’ve elected a Dem governor, two Dem Senators, voted Biden last time, and abortion easily got on the ballot. Throw in Lake being a complete fucking loon. Trump ain’t winning AZ.
  18. If Harris wins, I doubt they’ll be running in 28.
  19. Arizona’s statewide politics are much different than those other two. Phoenix (like Atlanta) is big enough to counter the rural parts. But yes, the rural parts aren’t f AZ are batshit insane on a level above TX. Those people live by themselves in the desert for God’s sake. I’ve read about the homeless problem in Denver. Is the news overblowing it? Is it only in certain areas? Maybe @mchookem can fill us in….
  20. I know what the polling says about PA but I have a hard time believing that a state with a Dem governor and two Dem Senators that voted for Biden last time is going to vote for Trump now.
  21. We're not down with living long term in a place with frequent natural disasters. (It's one of about 50 reasons Florida is not on the list.)
  22. We've been flying in and out of there for awhile and you're right, that airport blew up. They just finished the Hyatt. I wish it were a hub for someone besides Southwest, though. Still very good airport. Good people watching on Sundays with hungover bachelorette parties shuffling through the terminal wearing sunglasses. Nashville and Austin are probably the two cities who handled their growth the worst. Everyone keeps moving there and they're doing nothing. I only mention Franklin because we like downtown Franklin. Otherwise, it's a McMansion subdivisions and faux gentleman ranches with wedding barns for people from small towns to drive in and have an Instagrammable weddings. Pretty MAGA, though. I remember one of the worst school board meltdowns was in Franklin and the leader was like a 25 year old who lived with this parents or something. To your point, Nashville also has a bigger corporate presence than most people think but since we're talking retirement here, that's a non issue.
