  1. I liked how this board is mostly Gen Xers and can see our old, deranged parents in both of these candidates.
  2. End no fault divorce and I would never ever consider getting married for any reason at all.
  3. Everybody polling better against Trump than either Biden or Harris: https://www.politico.com/newsletters/playbook/2024/07/17/new-polling-bolsters-dump-biden-push-00168943
  4. Yet there is still time to do something about it but let's not hurt the feelings of the Biden family.
  5. If Biden still beats Trump in the end (and he may), the meltdown will be epic and glorious.
  6. Why is that on South Scottsdale? I'm talking about the areas around Fashion Square and maybe a little north and south of that. (Maybe I'm wrong on the terminology.) I do not mean Old Town, which seems kitchy like Branson in the Desert or something. I'd prefer Paradise Valley but that's a price tier about what we're talking about here. By "cactus corridor," I assume you mean North Scottsdale with all of the golf clubs? We really like that area but parts of it look like a moonscape and the average age seems to be 137 years old. Good communities and golf, though.
  7. Wasn't Kobe the helicopter dad? Sorry, I'm a bad person.
  8. It might be a hot take but I kind of agree with you on the Nashville angle. When I started this, I thought Nashville would rank higher but it didn't and we've been there quite a bit. We don't know it like a local but we know it fairly well. Sure, it's a good place to go party or to some bro country show but to live? What am I doing on a Wednesday? (I'm not going to shows every day.) Weather is meh. Hot/humid in the summer. Cold/dry in the winter. Good food city but not a lot of outdoor options. Sure, they're outside of town but I'm talking about the city. Got some good. Got some bad. Overrated? Maybe.
  9. Good find on the video. I have thought for some time that we could see reverse climate retiree migrations. Instead of working in the Northeast and the Midwest only to retire to the SE or the SW, we might see the opposite. NYT had a story about people who moved to Houston finally having enough. (No shit.) Even where I'm at now, there are 4-5 months I can't really go outside. (January and February and then maybe June through August.) My thinking with Scottsdale is that it's 3-4 months but all at once. (I know it sounds back asswards.) Yes, the long term risk is that the average temps go up even more and then it stops raining/snowing again in the West. Makes me reconsider Denver, who I don't believe has any water problems....? Might pay more attention to Ann Arbor over the next few years....
  10. Could that happen in central Phoenix/Scottsdale? I could see it happening if thing got really bad. The desert isn't designed for have 10M people there. I know San Antonio had serious water problems when we lived there.
  11. Yeah, but what does that mean to me if I'm living in South Scottsdale? Is my water bill high even though I'm not using that much?
  12. Yes, something needs to happen. I'd be OK with Harris with Cooper or Brashears at this point. Would rather have Whitmer but it is what it is. If Trump wins, Vance is basically the incumbent in 2028.
  13. Yeah, we were out there pre covid or right after (I forget which) and it was a HUGE issue then. (It's rained/snowed quite a bit since then but that might be temporary.) They had developers north of Scottsdale (not North Scottsdale) hitting dry wells and having to truck in water or something and in Buckeye (I think) they basically put a hold on all new development. Does this really impact the more central parts of Phoenix/Scottsdale?
  14. Water is an excellent aspect that I had thought about. It was a complete pain in the ass when we lived in TX. Any perspective on water in Denver but particularly Phoenix? Any downsides to either of those in regards to water?
  15. Kamala and Obama are definitely Gen X in spirit. There is nothing Boomer about either of them.
  16. Here comes a strongly worded letter before they end up supporting him.
  17. They should ask how it worked out for Trump’s kids.
  18. Tim Scott took the bait like they all do.
  19. He's a smart person that acts stupid. Performative stupidity.
  20. These are the same people who believed Taylor Swift was a CIA plant.
  21. San Diego would be on the list but I didn't think we'd be able to get into the areas we wanted for $1.5M to $2.5M. Maybe @Gil Bang can parachute in here and tell me I'm wrong but I like me some La Jolla and that price doesn't seem realistic there. As for seasonal effective disorder or the weather sads, both of us have that in a major way. Otherwise, Seattle/Portland would be on the list. Love those cities but I just can't handle six months of drizzle.
