Seems easy enough. Just buy the Tonex capture box, and then my understanding is a recorded guitar signal is fed through your amp, capturing the tone. No need for microphones. Just another $250 for the capture box. haha.
Not that much tweaking. I find a model I want with the software, assign it a space on the pedal, and away we go. I'm just finally getting into having a setup that I can record to.
Mainly, just using Tonex software to model amps and pedals and such to record. I can patch models to the pedal to run through an actual amp, which is nice.

Finally been digging deeper into the Tonex pedal. Bought an audio interface, studio monitors, and have everything running through my Mac Mini. I'm impressed. I haven't been plugging into my amps at all.
