  1. Looks like quite a few of us got it this past week. The first day was pretty awful, but generally just feel tired. Ever since then (Wednesday), my fever has been low but my throat is so gritty, especially in the AM. Definitely regret loosening my masking regiment while traveling.
  2. Think I’m late to the party, but RRR is amazing. Thought it was going to be overhyped based on film twitter, but definitely worth it. Kind of reminded me if Michael Bay did a line of coke and tried to come up with a musical.
  3. As a younger person who doesn’t really plan on touching his investments for awhile, assuming this is a good time to get some ETFs that track the S&P500 and just wait a decade or two, right?
  4. Red flag laws are absolutely needed as well.
  5. If you want to see how Russia is pushing stuff: Think these were the same guys that CNN ran into.
  6. If you are curious about what Russian reporters are saying, this bitch’s twitter is their English mouthpiece for the Donbas.
  7. The counterpoint is that all of those sources are very much limited in when and how much they post. They often post information hours after they’ve occurred. They’ll also include that the sources are not independently verified because how can you check how many are dead or vehicles destroyed when the war is actively going on and neither side has any advantage in posting as accurate of estimates. If you really want a thread of just that, you don’t need a Surly thread. Most of those sources have their own live threads that will cover what they’ve seen during the day.
  8. Translation: The Russians entered the elevator to cover the area from the roof of the office building, and the Ukrainians turned off their power
  9. Picking up the Russian ambassadors / staff in the US per earlier reports. Or maybe it’s the start of Modern Warfare 2.
  10. It’ll take a bit of time for the soils to freeze outside the surfical portion. The bearing capacity of the soils will also be limited depending on the depth of the freeze - you can still have a punching failure as those vehicles are pretty damn heavy. For the military folks, was the reason why Russia was able to demolish Aleppo because they had control of the skies? Seems like that won’t be the case for awhile if ever in Ukraine.
