  1. His reputation is definitely great. I don't remember being particularly impressed with him the first time around, but that could be due to who his DCs were.
  2. As a note, Chris Ash was mentioned as a potential UofA DC. They filled that position last night with Don Brown. Based on the Gideon hire, doesn't seem likely that he would stay, though.
  3. Marshall is about to find out the lesson that UNM learned when Rocky Long "retired."
  4. Why would you jump the short route with 19 seconds left?
  5. Bears suck. Their past few wins have been fools gold, and they are the definition of backing into the playoffs. They should absolutely fire Nagy and Pace, but since they made the playoffs, they more than likely won’t.
  6. Is it bad if I would prefer Ash to Muschamp? The league is quite a bit different from when Boom was here the first time, and Ash’s system worked surprisingly well towards the end of the year. that being said, BK+Muschamp >>>> another year of Herman
  7. The problem with Herman is that it is Year 4, and he still doesn’t understand the concept of game planning for opponents. If it was Year 2, that’s him learning on the job, but he seems like he is too god damn stubborn to make the changes week to week to attack the opponents weakness. The ISU game showed some development on that, but once ISU adjusted, he had no answer.
  8. Some of our underclassmen have a much higher opinion of themselves than their production. Will more than likely be quite a few UFAs that pop up. Also, don't know how anyone can argue Herman should stay at this point. He's depleting the talent on campus by running them out, and his recruiting has cratered. The next coach is going to be battling uphill again, and it'd be even worse in 2 years.
  9. Brian Kelly would not be good. He hasn't shown that he can make the next step with ND (Yes, he's having a good season, but do any of us expect them to win?). Plus, if he comes, that more than likely means Meyer to ND which would add an additional school to raid Texas.
  10. I get that, but there is definitely something to be said about the Catholic part of it.
  11. Why would we be looking at coaches like Dykes and Sark that have proven that they can't handle big programs? Makes zero sense.
  12. I would say Texas' performance against Arkansas in the Texas Bowl was worse than that. 59 yards of total offense.
  13. Better than Herman, but watching some of ULL's games this year, he's able to get by baffling coaching decisions with talent. The App State game is a good example of that. Also, the Traylor talk is odd to me. Could he succeed? Sure, if everything hits right. However, we've seen how bad things can go when you don't hit everything right and how a HC is more than just assembling a staff. Way too early to go for him, and the Nix investigation is something that I think some people are forgetting. Either way, I think someone mentioned earlier that CDC identifies coaches who have built a program twice. Neither of them qualify for that distinction.
  14. Fuck this take so much. Again, the expectation is to actually win the conference and show up in Dallas at least ready to play. It's not unrealistic.
  15. He’s definitely the most realistic choice. Would be interesting to see what level of recruiting he could do, however.
  16. Why does he have the highest potential again? Previous Clemson OCs include Jeff Scott, Chad Morris, and Billy Napier. Only one of those coaches has shown success and that is at a non-P5 school. Morris, who was very hyped, spectacularly failed.
  17. Fair enough. I'm just a bit more upset with the general perception that our fanbase is unrealistic and fully expects NC year after year. We just want a program that can actually win the conference and occasionally be near the discussion for the playoffs.
  18. Yes, winning the conference more than once per decade is unrealistic.
  19. Also, hiring head coaches from places like Boise or Houston has generally not been a good idea.
  20. No one overpays for mediocrity quite like us. And no, hiring good women basketball coaches doesn't really matter when the sport everyone cares about fucking sucks. His extension that didn't lower the buyout and giving Herman a chance to reset his staff are huge blunders.
  21. USC actually wins its conference. We are closer to Michigan or Tennessee.
