  1. Well, I wanted to get a Series X, but there doesn't seem to be a single reason that matters to me. I just don't understand how Microsoft dropped the ball this much. They should have delayed Gears Tactics or Flight Simulator to at least a simultaneous launch on Series X to have something. As of now, if you don't like horror (The Medium and Scorn), there's really not a point to buy one at launch. I haven't owned a Playstation since the PS2 days, but I'm tempted to buy one at launch now as at least they have something as well as a backlog that I haven't touched. Just really, really disappointed in this news.
  2. Agree that it is likely he is just doing this to distract from the economic numbers, but that he actually suggested is horrific. It's a textbook play out of a despot, and, if anything, the elections should be moved forward to limit the damage he is currently doing.
  3. As a buyer who is in a market similar to Austin, it's probably because doing all the work you'd like on a place is a complete shitshow right now. Getting contractors to come out and give estimates is really tough as building supplies are limited, and now doesn't really feel like the time to buy a house, move-in, and then have a bunch of strangers in it for a few weeks. That being said, the market right now for move-in ready houses is a bloodbath.
  4. Doubt James ever takes a single meaningful snap at Bama.
  5. I really like the emphasis on the Sweatt v. Painter court case. It's something that I did not really have a background to prior to this, and it's a good way to recognize our history. Same with honoring the Precursors. Glad that we were able to have discussions about it and move forward in a positive step.
  6. AMLO doesn't exactly inspire too much confidence in his ability to either run the country or prevent the spread of this virus fwiw. Family in Mexico are pretty furious with him over all of this. As for the OP, I would first look into places like the Rockies or Durango in CO or Montanta as leaving to go to Canada is quite the investment. However, Canada will be your best bet during all of this and in terms of an easy transition. Vancouver would be pricey, but my friends who have gone to the east or Calgary/Edmonton have enjoyed it. Alaska is beautiful, but the change in the day time and the potential for some of the worst earthquakes in the world really hurt it.
  7. I disagree. NYTimes has a good article with John Stewart today that summarizes my feelings. Whenever we get these 24 hour networks, they have to create urgency through crisis and conflict for everything to generate ratings. Sadly, the ratings only increase when everything reported is breaking news as opposed to nuanced discussions or reports that take quite some time to research and report that you find on PBS. That being said, I wish their coverage of live events like the primaries, elections, and the protests would be better, but they seem like they actively stick to their values of taking time to digest and report, which I really appreciate and what sets them apart.
  8. Judy is a saint. It’s always jarring going from them or BBC’s news programs to CNN or Fox News as it’s a night and day difference in terms of how they present the news or even opposing arguments.
  9. Hopefully this gets them to rename Sul Ross State. Such a shitty name for a university in such a beautiful part of the state, and they can’t screw it up and call it West Texas A&M either.
  10. Seems like that’s the big red flag in all of this, though OAN are batshit insane.
  11. It is interesting as how many people are arguing about the other demands. Those are all really good (better than the UT Senate, but that's to be expected), though they may need some minor tweaks (e.g. where they are donating the 0.5% from UT Athletics). It is a great thing that they are actually using their voice during this moment, even if I really disagree about the Eyes.
  12. Again, using your logic, pretty much every single thing from before the Civil Rights Era and a hell a lot of stuff after that should also be removed. Should we also take down the 1969 national championship as it represents a much more abhorrent condition, a team before integration during a time when integration was happening for awhile?
  13. Yes, because slavery is on equal terms to an alma mater song. Great fucking argument there.
  14. Star-Spangled Banner was written by a man who owned slaves, so we should get rid of that one too, right? I understand why the origins are controversial and why we shouldn't force those that don't want to sing it to sing it, but the argument that the origins of the song and not the contents invalidate the song is a slippery slope.
  15. It's an interesting methodology, but hopefully it's moreso following Camden, NJ's lead in essentially pressing reset on the entire department and rebuilding it to be much more community-based policing forward with more clear regulations than whatever they currently have.
  16. Going to be fun to see Tennessee’s class implode when they lose to Furman.
  17. While that's a good point, him being absent from the Day of the Sun and Military Foundation Day isn't a good sign for his health.
  18. Always wanted to hike Denali and Kilimanjaro and run the NYC marathon. in terms of right after this is over, I don’t think I want to spend an entire weekend at home for a long, long time. Even getting out to hike for at least half a day is going to feel like paradise.
  19. The Daily for a few months now (and Freakonomics from Wednesday) both are pointing out that China is doing a huge propaganda push across the world, but particularly in their own boarders, due to this. They are really trying to downplay their role in this from multiple levels of them fucking up, and it really needs to not be ignored how bad they handled this in the future. Just like the SARS pandemic led to a loss in faith in their government, this damn well better do a similar thing. While the US and others really dropped the ball on how this was handled and need to consider multiple things in the future, this is surely going to have huge geopolitical ramifications for China in the world... it's just a question of how successful China is at pushing their propaganda and using their own economic tools in SE Asia and Africa.
  20. In general, I agree with the rest of your post, but wanted to point out a few things. Wet markets are not the same as exotic wildlife markets (Source). Wet markets exist throughout the world, even in North America, but the exotic wildlife markets are of particular concern in China due to the animals that are sold at them. While it is a cultural issue, not having these exotic wildlife markets in the middle of a major metropolitan area would be a signficant help to prevent the jump of viruses between the species and were specifically warned about during the SARS pandemic. We need to continue to pressure their closure as they are one of the biggest risks we have for the jumps of these kind of viruses to humanity. Even if it goes underground, it would still drive down the amount of wildlife that would be openly sold in these densely populated areas that can transmit the diseases.
  21. It’s just so poetic and perfect this is happening to Rodgers.

  23. Sloan’s has been pretty bad this entire time unfortunately as the density of people makes it tough to maintain 6 ft. From someone in the Highlands, the vast majority of people have been doing a good job, even along the River trail, but you get the occasional morons who are playing basketball, throwing a football, or disregarding the tape and doing pull-ups. Traffic seems like it’s increasing though as it’s taken me a bit longer to get to Bonfire from the middle of March to now. Cant really complain all that much though as Polis has done a good job. Surprised there isn’t a mandatory order to use face coverings here yet though Hancock could easily do that.
  24. Ha, it would definitely require some government funding or creating incentives to build it. They also discussed using our allies that we trust to not make faulty medical equipment (South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Germany, etc) to help and also help with our global partnerships. It definitely would be complicated and costly, but would help significantly in the long run to either get China to actually play ball or weaken them by strengthening our partners in East Asia.
