  1. I would agree.   You will see bay trout follow the food source throughout the seasons but I don't think there is a ton of exchange between gulf trout and bay trout.

I follow a couple of jetty guides on FB and I noticed that not one of them has posted a pic of their catch that included in a trout in many months.  I don't know where the Gulf Trout go during this time of year but it is not the jetties.  I text one and asked him when he will start to see good trout show up and he said "mid to late April".

I did sign up for Trout Support's Members area last year.  I found it really informative in regards to the seasonality of Trout, Reds and Flounder.  Tobin has a really strong background in Ecology and does videos every week talking about what to look for when on the water.  So if you are looking to geek out on saltwater fishing info, I think it is worth it.  If you fish Galveston area, he has a Reef Recon overlay for your GPS that is pretty nice.  There is a forum set up where members share ideas, product info and Tobin has been very good about answering questions that are posted.

I think on Sunday I am going to tear down all my fishing gear and reorganize.  And I need to switch out some hooks on lures.

Troph - There are two fishing websites that I follow.  2Coolfishing.com and then there was a rebellion last year and these guys started dosfrio.com offshoot of 2 Cool.        On one of those websites is a guy named Shark Chum who apparently is the Mr Miyagi of surf fishing.  Definitely looking for his posts for tips.

  2. So Love After Lockup wrapped up a couple weeks ago. I still say it is the best trash tv series on right now. That guy Shawn was biggest dumb ass in tv history. WE channel. Go watch you some previous seasons!!

90 Day Fiancée is wrapping up soon. I bet Julia fucks like a sex panther. The other two Russian gals bore me. Lots of whining. Now way Jovi is ready to father and husband. Tarik gonna be left holding his dick in three years when Hazel leaves him for a woman. The drama of Big Mike and his Russian gal being sent back or not has been good drama. My general impression of that relationship is that she is lame in bed and it doesn’t make up for her being a pain in the ass outside of the bedroom.

It was brought up in a different thread but I love watching Summer House A typical series is about these late twenty / early thirties people who work and live in NYC during the week and then spend the weekend in the Hamptons each weekend during the Summer. Massive amounts of drinking, several people who can’t handle their alcohol, always some hot chicks in skimpy bikinis and always some hooking up with lots of drama cooked in. I really like me some Amanda. She does it for me in a massive way.

This year, due to COVId they are all living at the house for six straight weeks. Some have real jobs. Some are influencers. It is worth giving past seasons a shot in order to catch up.

The only thing I dislike about the Seadrift/ O'Conner area is there just are not that many places to eat... that are open after 8 pm.  Tough when you have been fishing all day.

If you guys haven't been in a while, the new 5D steakhouse opened late Fall this year in POC.   Not saying it is great, but it is pretty nice by POC standards.  They stay open late and even had the Bellamy Brothers in concert there a couple of weeks ago and Aaron Watson played there this weekend. Concerts lined up all summer.   It has been packed every night I have driven by.  Again, not Bohannan's quality but they have your typical small town steakhouse menu: Sirloin, Ribeye, Burgers, Grilled Chicken, Chicken Fried Steak etc etc.  Worst wine list I have seen in a "steakhouse"  EVER. lol.  Bingo is on Thurs nights.  There is no way they will be able to find enough servers to handle the summer crowds.

Crawfish Festival is April 24th.  I may be a judge again.

In bad news, Dock's sandwich shop closed.   They had great food.

  4. Most of my guides are in POC.  One of them will be open, just depends on what you want to do.  Fishing hasn't been easy unless you are willing to go to the jetties.  If you are willing to make the drive to POC, let me know and I can message you some names and numbers.  They are all ones that I trust will fish as hard as they can to get you some action.  Most of them don't mind fishing a few hours and then taking you to Sunday Beach if that is something you are interested in.

Seadrift Guides: Nathan Beabout  (he only throws artificials  but he knows his shit.)  I am sure the guys at Bayflats Lodge could book you a guide.

Yes you can get to Sunday Beach by boat but that last storm last year really silted in a large part of it.  There is a channel but your best best is to follow a boat in.  Even then, you will have to walk a ways to get to the Gulf side of the beach.  I would just to go to Port A if your wife is going to be that particular.   The Front Beach area of POC is just on the bay at the end of town.  Easy park and walk though.

  5. Well legends didn’t get the memo.  Bunch of good weights came in from down south hill this weekend. Dumb to think but I was hoping the fish would get a break.

Well, I heard that the Watkins Jr boat ran all the way back to Rockport area to get their fish.

I have a friend who fished it and he said Mansfield was dead. Might have just been him bitching since he didn’t catch shit but it would be interesting to see where the top teams got their fish.
