  1. they are new, hope it works out. just curious but what was in Doss that you were going to see haha
Looking forward to hitting them up one day soon!

Nothing. We just had to get out of the house. Beautiful day. We ate bbq, went to Fredericksburg and grabbed some backyard stuff at one of the shops on Main St, met up with some friends (who told us about Doss originally) and then drank beers at Alstadt Brewery.

  2. We road tripped it to Doss,TX yesterday (outside Fredericksburg) and at at Doss General Store/ Los Muerto BBQ. (The guy at Los Muerto in Katy is helping them with their Q).

They’ve only been open a month or so.

Brisket was top notch. They nailed tenderness and plenty of flavor.

Barbacoa was top notch. I love Barbacoa.

The wife liked her pulled pork sandwich ( I didn’t try it )

The ribs were good (not OMG great) my issue was they serve it drowning with sauce on top. Ask for sauce on side of you go.

We started with the Southwest egg rolls. They are huge and full of flavor.

All the sides we had were on point and plenty of TLC went into them.

They have some kinks to workout as far as their service (little slow) and process but overall the food was very good.

Would you mind sharing the recipe?

If you want, you can go to Royers Round Top Cafe Facebook page and click on videos and scroll down to May 2020 and there there is a video of Jamie Lynn making them.  I took the recipe from that video.  I was worried that 12 oz of  raw grits wouldn't be enough for us and it ended up being enough for 8-10 people easy.  There is a fuck ton of cheese in these.

Probably going to do a seared ribeye over them next time.

Royers Round Top Café  Cheesy Grits

Boil 4 ½ cups water with 1 stick of butter

Add ½ tsp cayenne & ½ tsp paprika

Add 2 T pickled jalapeno diced

    Add 2 T chopped garlic  & 1 T Salt

    Stir and bring to boil.

Add Quaker Quick 5 min grits  - 12 oz (half the container)   - add in while boiling

    Whisk whisk whisk

    Once all water is absorbed

Turn flame off and add eggs   ½ cup eggs (2 eggs?)  and whisk some more so it doesn’t scramble

4 oz cream cheese – break into pieces and whisk in

    Turn flame back on low

2 cups water  - add in water as you start to add the cheeses to make it easier to stir.

1 lb Pepper jack -add in and stir and add some water (we grated ours)

2 cups heavy whipping cream add in with some of the cheese as well.

3/ 4  lb American cheese (grated) stir in and add cream as needed to make it easier to stir

Keep stirring until all cheese is melted.

It will thicken up as it cools off.

*You can make ahead of time and reheat as you mix in a little milk or cream as you stir.

Season shrimp well with Lemon Pepper and grill with some Dill Garlic shallot Butter.

Hit it with a dash of Tony's after you plate it.

  4. So excited for Becton. Thank God. Finally a real S&C guy who is going to take our team to the next level. He's going to be a huge improvement over Maddog Wiley Moorer Yancy.  I always though that sandpit training / working out with the players / the pit / urine hydration tests was a stupid gimmick.

Yep. If there is anything tried and true from this site during coaching changes it is automatically slurping the incoming OL coach’s dick like Jenna Loves Rocco and then anointing the new S&C as a “beast” that is going to whip this soft program into shape and then bad mouthing the ways of the outgoing S&C coach.

  5. there are several across street when you get off the ferry.

My suggestion would be to grab cart, head south and stop at Soggy Peso for a drink.

Then continue south and stop at the The Joint and grab a frozen mojito to go.

Continue south and walk around Punta Sur.  Take lots of pics.  Make the turn back north and stop at Villa la Bella and sit in the swings at the bar  and have Pina Coladas.   ( I don't think we have talked much about Villa la Bella much on this site but we really liked it.  Amazing Pina Coladas and nice view)

Stop into Isla Brewing Company and do a quick tasting.  (it is very informal)

Head all the way up and park on the street by North Garden and then you can walk to the beach and hang out.

If you want to do the market thing, you can walk to there and shop.  Plenty of restaurants there as well.

There are plenty of things to fit in between the stops above, just depends on what you are into.  This gives you a good loop around the island.
