Anal for the win.
I really enjoy my Curado 70. I posted a couple years ago a video of it when the guy put Boca Orange seal bearings in the thing right out of the box (he did for free). It free spun forever.
I love my Lews Team Lite. Right now that is my standard on how reels should feel and cast.
I just got the Curado DC so I can’t really speak to it yet.
I have a Lews Custom Inshore that is fine but I am not in love with it. -
We just got back from POC. Friday morning, did a quick run over by Decros Point/ Bird Island with the wife and the oldest. Nothing really happening. Found some blue water coming in with the tide and fished the color change, but only caught a big gafftop and a 12 golden croaker. There was bait there. If it had just been the old man and I, we would have waded it and found some trout.
Helped the old man install a new Minnkota trolling motor with the ipilot on his Majek. He is pretty pumped to try it out next trip.
My buddy hired a guide and they went to jetties. His daughter caught her first oversized Red and he brought in a beautiful 25 inch trout.
We hired a flounder guide Friday night and took my dad, a buddy, and two teenagers. Was first time hiring a guide flounder . Was a long night. We left at 9:30pm and got back after 2am. Managed to find 7 keepers. Was disappointed there wasn’t much action, but everyone enjoyed themselves.
I judged the POC crawfish festival on Saturday. Bloody Mary category was pretty fun. Some creative submissions and several tasty ones at that. Side dish competition was pretty tasty, except for the assholes who submitted deviled eggs. Ain’t nobody wanna taste your nasty deviled eggs that have been sitting in the turn in box for an hour. The crawfish competition was ok. They have been sitting in the turn in box for at least 30 min, so they definitely weren’t warm. You had to really standout to get noticed. Same team won third year in a row. 40 teams entered. Bri Bagwell was the headliner. Other than needing to eat a couple of sandwiches, she was entertaining and good singer.
They didn’t fence off the beach this year, so you could sit in a chair drinking beer and listening to music and the kids could run out and play on the beach and come back when they were tired. We managed to leave with the same amount of kids we came with, so that is good.
The development around POC is at an all time high. People building and clearing land like crazy.-

yet. he hasn’t fucked her yet.
If I am throwing $10 on a long shot bet, episode 6: Tyrion and Sansa get it on, become man and wife and rule the North after Tyrion helps find a way to save Westeros. -
Is Tyrion and Sansa still technically married ?

According to an interview with Macie Williams, there was no body double. But I think it is pretty obvious that they tried to CGI out her nipple.

Robin: “I was just going to say, I knew Steve Martin/Sting & Trudie/Billy Joel were going to love the book!”
Oh yeah, my predictions.
Big secret: Howard had skin cancer (I mentioned this a few posts ago, so I’ll stick with it).
Favorite interview: Lady Gaga (first interview) This is an easy choice for me, I’m surprised callers haven’t named it as a guess.
I agree on the Lady Gaga interview. Only other one that came to mind was when Billy Joel came in. -
They needs him to go back to drinking.

He made $119,686 last year. Highest paid coach in SA area (according to Express News article in Nov)
-
What’s the backstory ? They paid him big money?? Judson was his alma mater.
-
We need more Richard and Sal.
Honestly, we need less of everyone on the staff and more interviews.-

Shitty shitty shitty episode.

ok now who is florio?
Sorry. Meant Syrio. -
I can’t imagine trying to watch an episode somewhere other than my living room. Need peace and quiet.
I get that everyone likes to debate every detail, but I don’t really care if Florio = Jacquen. Does it really mean something more than I am seeing? -
I usually try to keep work and Surly separate, but I have been working on this for a while and it is finally a done deal. Signed a deal to be a sponsor of CCA Texas with our Seaglass Wine Company. Those of you who are CCA members should see an email blast any day now. Those of you who go to the bigger banquets will probably see our wine served there. The Sav Blanc is always tasty and the Rose just got a 90 pt rating from Wine Enthusiast for back to back years.
On separate note - the wind personally has it out for me and continues to kick my ass in 2019. Those very rare days that I am not traveling or have kids events and think I can sneak down for a fishing trip, the wind and fronts seem to be giving me the big middle finger. Went down to POC last week. Weds was a complete bust. Oyster boats were tearing up South Pass. It was windy and sun refused to come out and warm up the water. Only saving grace was that Tuesday night, put the boat in the water at 6:30pm and made a quick run to Bill Day reef area. Nothing was happening,. On way in, right at dark, I saw bunch of birds diving, so we made quick decision to check it out. Sure enough, bunch small trout sitting over this reef. Pretty much every cast was a 13-15 inch fish for 30 min or so.
POC crawfish festival is last weekend in April. They do a really nice job at the event.

Step son was recently moved to varsity baseball mid season as a freshman and has been starting in left field. He got a couple of nice base hits Friday night and made a comment at dinner tonight about hoping he gets moved up in the lineup (they had him batting 9th).
The wife, who has watched every game he has played since Tball, didn’t understand what he meant. Finally she admits that she thought players batted by their position and that he always was near the top of the lineup on the past because he was always Catcher or Pitcher.-

As for the rod in part 2 of your question - I think a 7 ft medium action spinning rod is probably the most versatile rod out there. Maybe check out All Star rods. They are usually pretty affordable and durable. I am guessing $89 or so. I got my wife a 7ft Castaway Taranis for under $100. It held up to me hooking a full grown pelican and reeling him in without breaking.
I love my Laguna Liquid rod I got at fishing show. I think it was $129. -
Sol - Penn spinning reels are probably the standard for durability and performance. Nothing fancy about them other than they perform day in and day out.
You can probably get 2000 size for them. Would be best to have them hold it in the store if possible. -
Taking some out of staters for some bbq in Austin soon. I would prefer to try something I haven’t tried before.
What’s the situation at Leroy and Lewis? Places to sit and eat? Assuming it is bring your own beer ?
How bad is the line on a Friday at LA BBQ?
I’ve already done Franklins, Stiles & switch, Valentina’s, Brown, mickelwaith, Freeman’s and Blacks.
