  1. We ran down to South Pass on Friday and crushed 20 trout. ( I will post pics if Tapatalk ever gets fixed) Had three 20 inchers mixed in with some 16-18's.   Would move to a spot, the first person to cast usually hooked up immediately and we would catch 2-3 keepers in that spot and long with some small ones.  Move down the way some, repeat.    Found a muddy streak and drifted up on it and crushed the rest of our limit despite an asshole who ran right in front of us and then circled back behind us to drift through behind us.  I didn't see them pick anything up though, so fuck'em.  Everyone on our boat reeled in plenty of fish to be happy.   Took our trout to Josie's that night, who grilled and fried it up.  Their Tex Mex is not good, but they  know how to cook up some fish.

Buddy and his wife went out on a different boat and picked up two nice reds , 8 trout (largest was 23 incher over by Bird Island).

From talking to some others, it sounded like Pringle and Conti were loaded with tailing reds.

I was with the wife (it was her bday trip) which meant I was fishing from the boat (which I do not like)- and the guide busted out the shrimp and poppin cork (which I detest).  I will say that he took my normal popping cork off and put a Midcoast Outcast on there.  It is weighted pretty heavy on the bottom and you just run your leader line off the top swivel instead of the bottom.  Holy shit the distance you can throw that thing.  She is going to fish in Babes on The Bay in a few weeks and I  ordered her a couple to take with her.

Also - the POC Crawfish Festival was a lot fun. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it was laid back and was pretty affordable for an event.  $5 entry and all beer was $3.  Live music.  Most importantly, the dude doing the crawfish knew what he was doing.  Great flavor, just the right amount of spice and none of that sprinkled on bullshit seasoning afterwards.

The new Front Beach looks pretty good too.  Tons of sand.  Could be a game changer down there.

Wife spent the entire drive back looking at property for sale in POC.

  2. Inevitably the other thread will be called "Game Of Thrones Season 8 Bookfags" and people will cross post on accident because the only difference is the word "No", and then people will get their panties in a wad and then an all out civil war will break out on Surly and then you Illiterates will be excommunicated back to Shaggy where you are forced to look at scat pics in every thread......

  3. Lat droppin some knowledge !

    4th- That’s a monster Red !

Taking the wife fishing trip in POC this weekend for her bday. God bless her. True story- she is getting wading gear for as a present.

Chandeleur trip is 3 weeks away. Can not fucking wait. I have loaded up with way too much gear.

  4. I am in Nola for work often.  A couple of places that are not near the quarter that I have really enjoyed:

Crabby Jacks - 428 Jefferson Hwy, New Orleans, LA 70118

The fried chicken was flavorful all the way to the bone.  Did not have the spice that Willie Mae's has (I like the spice), but it has tons of flavor and juiciness.  We ran into the lead singer/ drummer of Cowboy Mouth last time I was there.

    Sam's Poboy's  - 260 Brooklyn Ave, Jefferson, LA 70121

This is a total dive place, in a neighborhood,  run by the sweetest lady you can imagine and let me tell you, she knows how to cook!   She is open for breakfast and lunch until 2pm.

On Fridays, she will do a Fried Shrimp Poboy that is my favorite.   Perfectly seasoned shrimp.  Massive poboy.

Both of these are kinda in-between the Quarter and airport (sorta).  Might be something to hit on your way in our out of town.

Best seafood boil:  Seafood Pot - 14386 River Rd, New Sarpy, LA 70078

The crabs are fantastic and they do the crawfish up right.

  5. Yes, something more than Rotel and Velveeta.

You folks had some pretty good recipes on the other site.  I know I have been using one of the recipes a bunch lately.  (The one that specified American cheese cut on #21 from the deli).

I looked up Torchy's Recipe online and this one came up.  I will try it next time and see if it gets close.

    Torchy's Queso Recipe

    What else ya got?

  6. I feel the opposite. The World Market near me has horribly marked up prices and then they do a big “sale” that brings the prices somewhat close to normal if you have the Explorer membership and you buy 6 bottles.

Specs, Central Market, and Trader Joe’s have much better prices.

    This correct.

HEB , Costco and Total Wine will have the best prices on most wine in Texas.
  7. Saw on twitter that he said he and Jost wrote that one in 2010 and it didn't make it past the table read.  Switcheroo in 2009 didn't make it past the table read either.  Pretty cool they could bring them back from the dead.

  8. So back when I started listening, he would have some pretty low level talent on the show because they were friends of the show.  Rev Bob Levy is one that comes to mind.  There are others.   Then he started the schedule were he barely does three shows a week and all those guys disappeared.  Was it more of a falling out situation or that he just didn't have time to fit them in due to three shows a week, where most of those are spent talking about Northshore Animal League.

  9. You guys bitching about thread bumps need to take your tampons out of your vagina. Pretty sure these threads are meant to discuss a particular player. We got 8 months until the first signing day. If it really causes you that much stress and anxiety, you should probably :

    1) get laid
    2) stop reading the recruiting board.

  10. Been using this Cruz pork rub and love it. Guy is out of San Angelo but has been getting his stuff into a lot of HEB’s lately. Has a full line of other stuff , some I have but haven’t tried yet.

Guy I know through work has this Piement d Ville Basque basque chili pepper. He gave me some to try out. It is fantastic. Not super spicy, but has a nice flavor. It is a nice addition to those who are creative in the kitchen. Seems like he told me a while back he was the only one that grows these peppers here in the states. Problem is, the shit isn’t cheap. About $12 per ounce.
