  1. Haha we feel the same way. We'd handle any of these other teams. Penix going Penix is worrisome.
  2. Everyone: If Alabama wins, Texas is virtually guaranteed a spot in the CFP. Texas fans: Nuh-uh!
  3. Because the refs are supposed to release the ball after 10 seconds. They don't wait for the defensive subs anymore. It's a free play for the offense of the refs aren't on the take.
  4. Agreed. That was like a 25 second substitution.
  5. The problem I have with this is not that the slide is late. It's that it is a terrible slide. He's still upright when the defenders make contact. When a QB slides the defender to taught to avoid him high. This makes sense because the QB should be trying to get under any potential hit. Contrast this hit with the one on Shapen, where the slide is still pretty late, but the defender drives down into the ground instead trying to avoid over the top.
  6. The rules wasn't changed. The officials in that game got it wrong and the NCAA had to re-emphasize the rule to avoid unsafe plays. The NFL rule was changed to the NCAA one because of Michael Vick and that was late 90s/early 00s. They did the same thing this year with all the teams that were trying to push returners into loose punts, but it didn't get as much media play.
  7. Yeah, the targeting call on Derek Wiliiams or Jerrin Thompson(?) that was overturned falls into this category. The WR was the one leading with his crown.
  8. Emotional hedging. I actually think the committee's rankings are pretty defensible, but they do a shit job actually justifying/explaining them to the press. Also, the 12-team format doesn't fix the problem.
  9. Mountain West did their tiebreaker this year using computer ratings.
  10. Alabama basically has little chance to make the playoffs based solely on an OOC matchup. If they didn't play uss this year, people would be talking about how UGA and Bama both need to be in regardless of who wins Saturday.
  11. This is wrong because the committee has signaled that they don't care about the resumes. If Nix completes less than 70% of his passes there's a good chance the committee drops Oregon. Sarcasm meters.
  12. This is almost exactly what my model has. I give Washington a bit more of a chance to win though.
  13. Also, racking up stats against weaker teams is what the committee is looking for.
  14. We are a bad matchup for you, but it would make next season's game even more fun if we wound up playing.
  15. Does ERob know where the bodies are buried or something? He's the position coach of an underperforming unit. Someone explain this to me. Is he the bagman?
  16. Give me those Army uniforms. If for no other reason than Navy put out photos meant to showcase their uniforms with lighting that makes it impossible to actually see the uniform.
  17. Sagarin and Massey are both score-weighted elo-like systems. Massey does a better job for controlling for it by using win probabilities instead of actual scores, but that style of system as a wholes tends to punish difficult schedules.
