  1. The punt that was called back vs ISU.
  2. Yeah. They are set screens with OL in front. Usually flares to the RB or slip screens to WRs. I'd say it's a strength but not the backbone of the offense by any means. I was more talking about the strengths and weaknesses of the OL. They can block in space.
  3. This. They are basically a west coast power spread with a deep playbook. A lot of single read and go type stuff, some set plays, and play action shots. They are dangerous because they have overall the best skill position talent. It's not Air Raid or Pro-spread. Their OL isn't actually good at pass pro. They are built as a gap unit and their guys are nimble blockers moreso than anchors or maulers. The set screen game is actually one of their deadlier weapons because those guys are good in the open field. To compensate they move the pocket a lot - especially when they want to take a shot. Bralen Trice is a stand-up DE with length and good hands and is good in stunts. I don't think you two will get the physical battle that you want, that's just not how Washington plays. They actually get good pressure, they just can't finish very many.
  4. Is this Jabbar Muhammad is the same one that lost the starting gig at OkSt to Korie Black? If that's a defensive player they feel the need to highlight....
  5. This is actually an excellent question. I perused through my model and some game stats trying to figure them out and am asking.myself the same thing. I don't know if it can be answered without watching their games, but here's what I found out: My model has their offense rated #6 overall but #126 in reliablility. Good offenses are naturally less reliable, but that number is a little insane to me, so I went into the individual rating for each game. They had 3 really good offensive games: Boise, Cal, and Utah. Boise and Cal are pretty unremarkable, except that they do have bad pass defenses. Utah is a great defense and they are fairly balanced about it. It wasn't like an outstanding game statistically, but it stands out for the opponent they were playing. They had 4 really bad offensive games: Arizona, ASU, OrSt, and Wazzou. Arizona and Oregon State are good defenses, the other are unremarkable in any form. Now what makes Arizona and OrSt different from Utah is that they stop the run first and make you one-dimensional. Washington did okay running against both teams, but they ran the ball less overall, which may have cotributed to the bad showing. However, the two teams that Washington didn't run the ball well against all season were ASU and Wazzou, and it was their worst games offensively. So (before watching the games) I do think there is some truth to them being reliant on the run.
  6. Sweat does have 5 or 6 PBUs this year.
  7. Welcome to round 1 of the expanded playoffs.
  8. The shift to 21 personnel is underrated. It's keeping safeties off good support angles which has lead to a more explosive offense. We are still winning upfront even with a more crowded box.
  9. Perception will matter for seeding. Not that it's even a Perception problem for the ACC, they just bad.
  10. Haha we feel the same way. We'd handle any of these other teams. Penix going Penix is worrisome.
  11. This will be a death knell for the ACC.
  12. Yeah a 10-3 playoff game is what the world needs.
  13. Everyone: If Alabama wins, Texas is virtually guaranteed a spot in the CFP. Texas fans: Nuh-uh!
  14. Superbowl
  15. Because the refs are supposed to release the ball after 10 seconds. They don't wait for the defensive subs anymore. It's a free play for the offense of the refs aren't on the take.
  16. Agreed. That was like a 25 second substitution.
  17. Sweat for Heisman!!!
  18. The problem I have with this is not that the slide is late. It's that it is a terrible slide. He's still upright when the defenders make contact. When a QB slides the defender to taught to avoid him high. This makes sense because the QB should be trying to get under any potential hit. Contrast this hit with the one on Shapen, where the slide is still pretty late, but the defender drives down into the ground instead trying to avoid over the top.
  19. The rules wasn't changed. The officials in that game got it wrong and the NCAA had to re-emphasize the rule to avoid unsafe plays. The NFL rule was changed to the NCAA one because of Michael Vick and that was late 90s/early 00s. They did the same thing this year with all the teams that were trying to push returners into loose punts, but it didn't get as much media play.
  20. Yeah, the targeting call on Derek Wiliiams or Jerrin Thompson(?) that was overturned falls into this category. The WR was the one leading with his crown.
  21. Emotional hedging. I actually think the committee's rankings are pretty defensible, but they do a shit job actually justifying/explaining them to the press. Also, the 12-team format doesn't fix the problem.
  22. Mountain West did their tiebreaker this year using computer ratings.
  23. Alabama basically has little chance to make the playoffs based solely on an OOC matchup. If they didn't play uss this year, people would be talking about how UGA and Bama both need to be in regardless of who wins Saturday.
