  1. They are really thin at Edge, RB, WR and already lost a few. OL and DL are their healthiest positions, and they probably need to thin them out anyway.
  2. That might be the worst throw ever to be a 20 yard completion.
  3. I choose to take Richardson leaving as a sign we have a replacement nailed down.
  4. A lot of the NFL guys do, including Belicheck. You don't hear about it as much because it's not the same burden as offensive playcalling.
  5. Six of them are the starters at Texas, TCU, and ISU. Brents at KSU, Walcott at Baylor. Jahdae had an up and down year. He was really good at run support. He made some big plays. It wasn't an award-winning season though.
  6. You have to know the total number off applicants to use the 1/e rule.
  7. There's certainly no public evidence yet. The 10 players portaling seem processed. Ish and Tunise are the only ones that are questionable.
  8. Im not looking at the list, but there were certainly 8 DBs better.
  9. To add to that, everyone is overlooking the obvious: Ford is the lowest rated recruit on our roster and looked lost enough last year to stay backup to an injured walk on. (Yeah, I know he started playing better late last year.)
  10. I don't think the calculus is changing much. If you lose non-con now, you basically need to run the table. If you lose non-con with 12, you can likely afford another loss. All things considered an additional loss (2nd currently, 3rd in the future) is still really likely to eliminate you. It's really the same choice as having a CCG or not, but the CCG brings in more money. I think more teams worry about the 6-win threshold than the playoff anyway. It might not matter for the truly marquee TX-Bama type games, but the biggest step to better non-con in general would be replacing the 6-win threshold with 4 conference wins or something similar.
  11. As much as media money is always talked about, "gameday" money is more than triple than what media brings in. The games will be played wherever there's more people and more money spent going to the game.
  12. Has anyone 995ish summarized the thoughts on what we are looking for and numbers from the portal? I've heard allusions to LB, S, ED, WR, OL. 4-6 guys?

    Fuck Big 12 refs

Okay. So the NCAA issued some clarification on this (for the Ole Miss play at least). Replay and non-replay games work by different rules. What I said is true of the field crew without replay. What Huck said is true of replay. And field crews with replay should let plays continue when it's not clear. The Ole Miss call on the field was actually a backwards pass with an inadvertent whistle killing the play. The Line Judge (camera sideline) called it backwards, but the Head Linesman (far sideline) blew it dead thinking it was forward. Line Judge, who is the official with primary responsiblity for this type of call, presumably won in the discussion. So the booth didn't change the ruling to a fumble, but they did rule that there was clear recovery. This is still really bizarre to me. There's two players closer to the ball who stopped playing after the whistle and it isn't like a bang-bang recovery where the whistle blew right as the ball was being recovered. Isn't the entire point of the whistle to be an absolute end to a play? If the booth can actually overturn a whistle, this is going to encourage post-whistle play and the injuries and fights that follow.
  14. The committee is way better than the BCS system was. I'd be fine with reintroducing a computer component, but the media/coaches polls were downright trash.
  15. Rooting for less football seems weird. I do wish they'd restructure the bowl tie-ins to create more competitive and rare matchups.
  16. A lot of the CCGs going forward will have scenarios where both teams are playing for a playoff bye. Which is a great thing, imo. Gives more reason to chase the 1 and 2 seeds also, because the 5th and 6th seeds might be monster teams that got upset in their CCGs.
  17. I was responding to the scenario if TCU and USC both lose. I think the scenario would be Mich, UGA, OSU, TCU over 2-loss Bama.
  18. Yeah. The defensive process should have looked like: Best DL = Tyree Wilson Best LB = Jaylon Ford Best DB = Josh Newton Argue over which one of those. --- Duggan is at least the best QB, but the best WR and RB are in the discussion for best nationally.
  19. Duggan won't even be an honorable mention and both Bijan and Hutchison are potential 1st team. Uzomah isn't even the best DE in the conference.
