  1. Like that one douchebag fraternity everyone avoids, but it's the entire school.
  2. He's got more than a couple STDs then.
  3. That sounds right on both accounts. I think the over was set too high based on last year. I don't see this as high scoring (or low scoring for that matter).
  4. From way down yonder on the Chattahoochee (outside ATL) FIGHT!!!
  5. You do realize that turf is grass and that the plastic stuff is artificial turf?
  6. I agree. But that is exactly why the booth can't call targeting. Flag on the field would be more forgivable. New rule and all so I don't know how they are supposed to call it, but I do understand the QB being considered defenseless with how the play went. It just that's there's no way for the booth to think there's a clear indicator of targeting.
  7. There was one in Taylor Hall (now the Dell CompSci building) for decades before that one was built.
  8. Hitting the knee area or below on a QB is also roughing now. As is gator rolling a QB. In combination, all these changes are crazy. Teams have been teaching rugby, gator, and chest tackling to avoid penalties. Apparently all three are illegal against a QB now. They are going to go back to shoulder thrust to midsection, which is far more dangerous.
  9. Someone explain to me how the DMO hit is different than Play #1 here:
  10. For the field officials only. All elements must be confirmed on replay. And a replay triggered by the booth is the opposite. All elements must be indisputable. --- The Auburn one might be worse because the QB in passing stance was not considered defenseless by rule last year. But there is also clearly a launch. At least the flag came on the field, though.
  11. I wasn't clear. On Thursdays, the NCAA publishes a handful of the plays that they were asked to review (or are reviewing for training purposes) from the week prior. This type of appeal is new, so I don't know what they are going to do. I suspect it might come sooner and that the conference/school/player would know first.
  12. He's stumbling out of another tackle. He didn't go low on purpose and isn't striking with his helmet here. The still makes it look that way.
  13. This NCAA reviewed this hit from last week on the Arkansas QB (not an appeal - it was correctly overturned by the booth). It's forcible helmet-to-helmet contact, but the QB is not defenseless here and the tackle is not leading with the crown.
  14. Its been posted several times in the past, but because people are still confused: There two types of targeting: 1) What used to be spearing, which is striking with the crown of the helmet (6 inch circle around the very top). Doesn't matter who what or where, this is always a penalty. 2) Striking with forceable contact a defenseless player in the head or neck area. a) Defenseless players are: (1) passers during/after a throw or in a throwing stance, (2) receivers in the act or shortly after a catch, (3) players currently in the grasp of a tackle, (4) kickers and punters during/after whichever act, (5) the player who was lined up in the typical QB position after a change of possession, (6) any person being blocked from the blindside. b) Forceable contact is contact beyond what is required for a normal tackle (putting a lick on someone) which must be accompanied by an indicator of targeting: launching, upward thrust, forearm shiver, leading with the crown or shoulder, kick or punch.
  15. To be clear, the NCAA would be reviewing an appeal by the Big12. It's not a Texas to Big12 appeal. If it is treated is any other NCAA review, NCAA publishes on Thursday. This is also new and different. We might already know.
  16. The Big12 will announce Friday evening that they reviewed it internally and didn't feel the need to appeal.
  17. Maybe it's like holstering the guns?
  18. Not rankings just how I feel: aggy - pity. I've rarely met a normal aggy fan. They are deluded and proud of it. Little grasp on reality and it carries over into non-school non-football things as well. Our company has interned a few engineer and CSM students and never hired a single one. I know a couple of millenial generation who played football there. They don't go back and loathe A&M more than most of you. Baylor - generally despise with mixed feelings. I was very close friends with a prominent Baylor alum during the rape scandal. He has a direct line to the board. He doesn’t share details but assures everyone who asks that it was far worse than reported or imagined. He was shocked and pissed off by it before anyone else. The Baylor fans who I know are decent people and I have watched many a CFB game with Baylor folk. But it's really hard to overcome murder and rape coverups. Tech - I'm indifferent towards. They are in the same state, but might as well be OSU/KSU/ISU as far as I'm concerned. It's fun to watch the game with a Tech buddy. A lot of my extended family is Tech, but not really fans. Behind Texas, Tech coworkers and work relationships are solid. TCU - I have mad respect for how they built up their althetics program in a relatively short time. Happy to have CDC and now Patterson on our side. When I lived in FtW my neighborhood had Arkansas, Bama, Mizzou, VT, and Purdue fans. They all had TCU season tickets and would watch their teams play from the tailgate before slipping purple on to go to the stadium. Probably because I lived in FtW, but best people I know are TCU fans. UH was shitty on bleacher gate. I don't think much of them outside of that. Rice - disappointment. I understand their priorities but wish they'd invest more in athletics and football. I would like to bring the rivalry back, but it's hard to really want it with the direction they've gone. I have no cares for anyone else. ACU and SFA are cool as lower division schools, but that's a completely different scale.
  19. It's what @JesusSweatDuck said. He doesn't misplay the ball. Watch the replay from the far endzone. Turning to the ball allows the WR to body him. Hard. Don't turn to look for the ball. The ball isn't being thrown to you. It's being thrown to the other guy. Look at him.
  20. Jamison's man. He's got #1 vertical to deepest threat. They cross early enough that the motion receiver would be considered #1 anyway. He probably bit too hard on the screen. The proper way to play a fake screen is to initiate contact quickly and hold the WR if he tries to release. Drag him down if you have to. There is no defensive holding against an eligible receiver initiating a block off the snap.
  21. I think Bo Davis taught them how to play football.
  22. Texas 34 Tech 24 154 WR yards
  23. 70 is the correct number.
  24. I don't think Tech has a "good" defense per se. More along the lines of not a terrible one. 50-60 sounds right. But UTSA looks like they should be ~80.
