  1. Which major stimuli programs and who voted for them? It's not, which is why it's strange for some to only talk about a specific cause like corporate greed. Covidflation was a confluence of multiple global factors. But you can still recognize that certain parties and policies and actions have a big directional impact, even if the size of the impact can't be modeled precisely. e.g. Russian energy being rerouted to India and China fucked up European energy prices pretty hard. On the global stage, the US has a pretty big lever that affects downstream costs to US consumers, whether it's through control of tariffs, liquidity, manufacturing, etc.

  19. he'll declare for the draft when he feels he's ready, and it looks like the "right" team have the draft slot. 1. even if his family has money, he would want to earn his own (it's playing ball for 8 digits, not working spreadsheets 100hr/wk for 6...) 2. he would want the challenge of playing in the big leagues
  20. empirically, casual-service places do not get 2/3 stars. for 1 star, only few casual places, which themselves seem like random token additions. i.e. if selection was based on food, we can think of better alternatives for each pick. theres a level of service and refine thats synonymous with the stars. it may be merely correlative, but it doesnt change the reality and what has gotten the stars so far. my experience with 1* vs 2*vs 3* places across different cuisines in different country doesnt jive with what i found better. IMO gault millau does a better index for what tastes best.
  21. thats an onomatopoeia. one of the coolest words in the language.
  22. You’d think they’d also be eons ahead in technology from having the ultimate compounder for collective intelligence: immortality. Elves live forever unless killed in combat. Wouldn’t the smartest elves just be ceaselessly discovering new shit. And also the most athletic elves be learning every single kinetic technique on earth. Like Neo downloading kung fu from a chip implant. Their agelessness should accelerate their societal curve so steeply I’d expect them to launch heat-seeking drones at the orcs from behind a force field curtain.
