Disingenuous way to spin his statement. He didn't say diversity is bad, but is excusable by a good story.
He said diversity doesn't matter, because people care about the story, as exemplified by Andor. That was in response to charges that people hate the show due to 'diversity'.
Everybody finds the show shitty. Some believe it's due to servicing of a cultural narratives (ie "pushing diversity") over quality storytelling. Some dont like that those are gimmicks or covers for poor storytelling.
Neither of those examples demonstrate bona fide contempt for "diversity" (or witches, or lesbos, or whathaveyous). The root cause is the story is shit, but its not very original to write "the story is shit".
You know this. Everybody knows this. Why do we pretend we dont understand basic social psychology here and play along with this motte and bailey bullshit pretending that everyone is a bigot.
