  1. My boy Chief is sick. [emoji22]He got sick about two days ago, and being the curious boxer that he is it's not extremely unusual for him to get into something/eat something that he shouldn't and be sick for about a day. As I went to sleep yesterday (around noon) I asked my mom to keep an eye on him as I was surprised that he wasn't feeling better by then. She woke me up a few hours later telling me we needed to take him to see a vet. He was finally up on his feet but he couldn't walk, he was off balance, he was disoriented, his head was cocked to the side, his tongue was hanging out of his mouth, and his eyes wouldn't stop darting back and forth. It was pretty hard to watch my boy like that. I got up and drove us all to a 24 hour emergency vet clinic in Round Rock where their initial guess was that it was one of two things: vestibular disease (common in older dogs/boxers, and treatable), or a brain tumor (common in older boxers, and deadly). We sat in the parking lot with Chief for a little over an hour before he could be admitted. We had to wait in the parking lot for another couple of hours before they told us to go home, and that they'd be doing tests on him and would call us later. I got a call around 11 last night saying that it wasn't vestibular disease (bad news), but that they didn't know what it was. They said his white blood cell count was high and they didn't know why, and they asked my permission for more tests and I gave it to them (I'm on disability and I get $522/month- right now the bill is $3400 and i don't even care as long as they take care of him). They said that a neurologist would see him and that he would call me in the morning. The neurologist called today and said that Chief has a serious inner ear infection which certainly affected his balance/ability to walk. However, they had to perform a spinal tap, and this revealed that Chief has meningitis which they fear may have spread to his brain. That said, they are hopeful that they caught it early enough to get Chief to be able to recover. He's going to stay at the hospital for at least another night, and they will call me again tomorrow with an update. Everyone loves their dog, but i have no problems saying this- Chief is damn near all I have. I lost my job in 2015 because of my health problems, and had to move back home to my mom's house and haven't been able to work more than one very seasonal job since then. With all of my friends and peers being married/working/raising kids/out of state/etc, all I really have is my mom and our two dogs, and Chief is my boy. He turned 9 on February 20th, and he has so much boundless energy and was in such good shape that I expected him to possibly be around longer than me. Now all of that is up in the air, and I am disconsolate. Please pray for my boy if that's your thing. I just want him to be able to come home and be himself again. I love my boy Chief more than anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. listen, this whole "82 game season" thing is going to be so unpredictable, that i think the only fair thing to do is to award the season title/prize money to whomever had the first pick.
  4. Woods is easily ahead of Nicklaus in terms of icon status.
  5. Gretzky, Pelé (although Messi is honestly the best player who ever lived and may one day be regarded as such). But yeah, add Gretzky and Pelé to the sports icon pantheon.
  6. Yes he was. Shaq had great footwork. You must not remember him in his prime. Also, nobody in the history of the NBA got legitimately fouled more often with no call than Shaq, so I'm not going to cry for any defenders who just tried to get run over and hoped for a foul call.
  7. yes, physically speaking i seriously believe he is the greatest athlete to have ever lived. only in mythology does a creature exist who is 6'8", 250+ lbs of muscle, with sprinter speed and olympic-level leaping ability. seriously- what human *ever* can match LeBron as an athlete? I don't think anyone can. that said, as far as basketball skills go, his vision/IQ/passing are his only elite skills that I see. As a shooter he's not even particularly good; ball handling he's good, but nowhere near elite; as a man defender he's fine but far from elite; he gets a lot of rebounds, but is he a particularly great rebounder? no, he isn't. and again, and I can't get over this, because it's completely inexcusable, the man can't shoot FTs, and is particularly bad when the heat is on. dude has been a professional since the 9th grade and he still can't shoot FTs. he's an amazing basketball player, and frankly to have the skill he does have with his size and strength is amazing; but when comparing his skill to the top 1% of players ever it's not particularly close.
  8. I wanted to repost my last bullet point because I wanted to get other's opinions on this: •Is LeBron even more talented than Steph Curry? I mean if they switched bodies then Steph would be the greatest player of all time and LeBron would be Russell Westbrook. I think Steph is more talented than LeBron and it's not even close. So I obviously don't think that LBJ is anywhere near as talented basketball-wise as Magic, MJ, or Bird.
  9. lol. i'm "wrong" on who my own favorite players are. whose account was this?
  10. And nobody said he isn't. The question is whether or not he is as skilled as the other greats at the top of the list, and the answer is a pretty clear "no" when it comes to Magic, Michael, and Larry. How many skills (if any) does LeBron have that are superior to all three of those players? •His best skill is his passing (and he has a very high basketball IQ), but guess what? Magic and Larry are also two of the greatest passers ever (both better than LBJ imo), and both have higher basketball IQs. •Jordan and Bird are far superior shooters, particularly from the line, and even more so during crunch time. Again, this is not a conversation about "is LeBron James talented", it's about where his basketball talent stacks up against the other all time greats. As a shooter, LeBron is nothing special-below average, depending on the shot. There isn't a spot on the court where he's a better shooter than these two. •Magic, MJ, and Bird all have better handle than LeBron. •LeBron is a good all around defender, but he is nowhere near MJ's level as a man defender. •Gonna make a whole nother bullet point to re-emphasize the fact that the guy cannot shoot FTs, and is in fact notorious for clanging dozens of horrid crunch time atte it's over the years. this cannot be overlooked •Is LeBron even more talented than Steph Curry? I mean if they switched bodies then Steph would be the greatest player of all time and LeBron would be Russell Westbrook. so yeah. he's an all time great, but talent-wise he does not match up with the very best.
  11. Awesome counter attack from BVB.
  12. You say, "he is every bit as skilled as those guys", and immediately follow it up with an entire paragraph about how Kobe missed the playoffs one time and how LeBron's teammates were no good. When were you planning on backing up the assertion that LeBron is as skilled as the likes of MJ, Magic, and Bird?
  13. a 6'8" physical monster who can jump four feet in the air has a good shooting percentage? get out! also, define "other greats". is he as skilled as MJ, Magic, Larry, Kobe, Hakeem, Zeke, etc? because I don't think he is.
  14. Game 7 of the NBA Finals and your team is down by 8 points with 5 minutes to go. Rank in order the following players, from who you'd most want to be your team's best player/leader, to who you'd least want to be you teams best player/leader in this situation: MJ, Magic, Larry Bird, Kobe, LeBron That also happens to be my order. LeBron's ability to create for others is enticing, but Kobe can actually shoot and also has a killer mentality, so I've put him ahead of LeBron. I don't see an argument for either of those two to be ahead of any of my top 3 in that situation.
  15. Also, I like how LeBron insisted that Miami was D Wade's team, made a big deal about how D Wade was Peanut Butter while LeBron himself was just the jelly, and then he turns around and calmly, and without a trace of irony, says, "Yeah and then I hit that shot and cemented myself as the greatest of all time." MJ was a killer. LeBron is a kid in the body of a mythical creature. They are not the same.
  16. LeBron still can't shoot FTs, particularly in crunch time. That alone eliminates him from any claim to being MJ's equal. edited to add: a lot of people who never watched Shaq play and/or are stupid like to say that he was just huge and had no skill, yet nobody ever seems to penalize LeBron the same way. He's always been a great passer, even in HS, but without being the *literal* freakiest athlete who has ever lived then he would be nowhere near any conversation about being the GOAT. MJ is insanely more skilled than LeBron, as are plenty of other all time greats. Don't know why he gets a pass but Shaq doesn't. doible edit: anybody think Michael Jordan growing up in today's era shoots 34% for his career from deep? 73% from the line? Markedly worse from the line in crunch time? Because those are LeBron's numbers. The idea that he's MJ's equal is ridiculous.
  17. Wayne Gretzky is so far and away the greatest hockey player ever, that if you took away every goal he ever scored he would *still* be the all time NHL points leader. Gretzky is the GOAT of GOAT's. There's an argument to be made for more than one person as the GOAT in any sport I can think of except for hockey.
  18. This is wrong. Just plain wrong. Gretzky is *easily* a bigger GOAT than Jordan. Easily. Gretzky is so far and away the best hockey player ever that it's not even an argument.
  19. To each his own, but for me Breaking Nad was enthralling, and it had nothing to do with the fact that BB had more action and violence. BB could be just as painfully slow and deliberate as BCS, but the character arcs and storylines were truly gripping, and in some cases took the entire series to flesh themselves out. With BB i continually found myself on the edge of my seat, overwhelmed with anticipation of where the story would go next. It was and is just extremely compelling TV. As for BCS, I would not describe it as gripping or enthralling, and I've never found myself hooked to this show like I was/am with BB. How many years ago did this show first air? Feels like it's been forever. And to be honest, I don't really remember very much at all about Jimmy's time at HHM, or Mrs.Kettleman (besides her rack), or most of the Jimmy vs Chuck storyline, at least as far as the details go. Same with Mike and his backstory. It just hasn't been nearly as compelling or memorable for me, and as noted, the interminable breaks between seasons don't help. Also, and this is just a fact, it's a very common occurrence for people to flock to this thread after an episode of BCS asking questions about the show that nobody ever has a concrete answer for. "What were they doing in this scene? What was the significance of such and such?" Things like that, where again, we never come to any finite conclusion. Point being, there's plenty of times when the dedicated fans of this show don't even know what's going on. And that's why for me, BCS is an enjoyable show that is not in the same league as BB, which is television royalty.
  20. Man, Jordan sure has grown a lot over the years. Always cool to see someone mature like that.
  21. fuck yeah Jenna. Leave Zack at home freaking the fuck out for a little bit longer.
  22. "I've been on my own since I was 17, and I just get anxiety..." Nani WTF are you talking about?? What does any of that have to do with you getting shit faced drunk, berating your friend, and then doing what you do *literally every season* and implode because, "This game is just so....". Can you imagine doing the exact same thing over and over and over again on national television and *never* gaining an ounce of self awareness?
  23. "What most people don't know about me is that I won Miss Congeniality, which means I'm a people person."
