  1. who people want and who people think we can get are two different things. we all want Billy Donovan or Chris Beard, but we also know that's not happening, or what's more, actually expecting us to land someone like that. i've seen a lot more people positing that Shaka will still be here next season than I've seen suggesting that we'll land a top flight coach.
  2. I've seen at least five different people say this over the course of this season, and yet i've never seen a single person who actually has expressed this sentiment. not once. in fact hardly anyone on this site is even throwing out suggestions for coaches, and most of the ones who do keep suggesting small-time coaches who nobody has ever heard of who are having mild success at programs that are far beneath Texas' level. if anything the exact opposite of this is happening.
  3. Donovan Williams and Kai Jones particularly could use a new coach. Zero reason that both of them aren't much bigger pieces of our team, but that's just one specific example of an area where Shaka is severely lacking and out of his depth (no pun intended)- dude is the absolute worst coach i've ever seen at integrating his young talent into the fold. i mean what kind of fucking ass-backwards moron, year after year, refuses to use his depth during the non conference schedule, only to find himself scrambling to find his best players/lineups throughout conference play?
  4. exactly. a lot of people seem to think that teams just roll the ball out and the play just takes care of itself. coaching at this level is a 70, 80+ hour/week job that entails so much more than most folks will ever know. take Roy Williams for example- he's been sending a few more guys to the NBA as of late, but how many of his former KU or UNC players went on to be NBA studs? same with Coach K- how many Dukies between Grant Hill and Kyrie Irving went on to be NBA stars? coaching is huge, and especially so at the college level when the entire team is a bunch of kids who don't even know the difference between a good coach and a shitty one.
  5. Arsenal FC, the soccer team that I support, recently changed managers, and *literally* every player has magically gotten better overnight. we even had one guy who, under the previous manager, made himself persona non grata with the club and fans, and he already had one foot out the door of the club at the time of the coaching switch. he's started every Premier League game since then and has been one of our most important players, and the fans are all thanking god that we didn't give him the boot. players who were garbage are now solid-great, and guys we didn't know could even play are now starting every match. Arsenal hasn't lost a single game in 2020. same exact players, brand new coaching staff, and voila- it's like a whole new team.
  6. i either read or saw a quote from VG where he said, "we wrote this story not knowing where we were going to go with it, and as we wrote it we asked ourselves, 'what would this character do here? how would this character respond to being in this situation?'" and i think that's maybe the single biggest reason that the character arcs and so believable, and in the end one of the top 2 or 3 reasons that the show is so brilliant. i can't imagine how hard it is to just keep writing as you go, and to do it as nearly flawlessly as VG and co. did, *especially* after the traveshamockery that was the last few seasons of GoT. Season 8 of GoT just made me appreciate BB that much more.
  7. I'm sure all three would thoroughly enjoy my company, and my mad cooking skillz. also, turns out Andrew Luck is awesome, and i've done a 180 on him, so he'd be more than welcome. As for the other two, I could use the opportunity to ask Adam Driver what movies he's good in, and to ask Shaka, "Yo what the fuck man?!"
  8. LA is now one of the top 50 scorers in NBA history. 🤘🏼
  9. He seems to be sort of the "it" guy right now, but he hasn't blown me away in anything i've seen him in (not that i've seen a ton of his work in the first place). what are the best movies that he's been in, and what are some of his best performances (if they aren't in the aforementioned movies)? i'll hang up now and listen.
  10. worst possible ending for Illinois. they have the ball down one and their ball handler suffers a non contact injury and loses the ball to end the game. damn shame.
  11. Illini currently on a 22-3 run vs Sparty, currently lead by one.
  12. people around here like him because he had success at SFA, but he's another guy who is probably lacking the experience we are looking for. we can do better than Brad Underwood.
  13. come to Butthead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Josh Hader is off the board. huge, you're on the clock.
  15. lol, Kentucky basically hasn't missed since we noted how much they were getting dominated. they obviously read surly.
  16. Kentucky is no.12 in the polls, but no.29 and falling in kenpom. that name on the front of the jersey sure goes a long way.
  17. that is...less than ideal.
  18. i'm down with that. does the all star break sound good for a trade deadline? i'd be fine with that too.
  19. some of the greatest character arcs in modern TV history.
