  1. Just call Brett auburn back and put him on the mound, the hair alone will scare the begezus out of opponents. seriously though, this team has overcome significant injuries, I’m just hoping BDE with Max Weiner has the pitching staff ready for next man up. Fucking sucks, the rotation was filling out nicely with 3 reliable starters a dominant reliever and closer. That’s a recipe for super and CWS finale series domination, the rest is double elimination and I don’t see this team dropping a regional when the #2 team will be national #16. Leaves only the CWS bracket to worry about but again with that rotation avoid going to your fourth starter and you’re set. Hopefully one of the kids takes the ball and regional Ray’s the fuck out of the third spot because if we can fill the gap this team is a clear fucking favorite for the title.
  2. Pierce was not our standard, sucks because we either made legends or hired them until Pierce. Bound to miss once. Glad we are back on track. I can’t suffer Texas baseball shitting the bed like it had been. I was all in on Pierce early, thought his post season bumps up in play and CWS appearances were indicative of a climb, where he would finally make it. But it became clear making the CWS field was his high water mark and that’s just not good enough. Maybe it’s close but it’s not good enough. We missed a title last decade we won’t miss one this decade.
  3. Yeah the sweeps of war eagle, bulldogs, mizzou, and state instead of a simple series wins (along with no series losses) have really stacked up. An epic meltdown is always possible but this conf lead is stabilizing nicely. OU, aggy and Arky remain, so you never know.
  4. This is so good. Dominate pitching, timely hitting, and a superb coaching staff that has the fellas dialed in to crush college baseball. Let’s fucking rake it boys.
  5. Prolly some FC, a walk maybe?
  6. Fuck it I say sark can’t have him.
  7. damn top of the league in football and baseball, plus volleyball, softball and women’s basketball and the Olympic sports. not too bad.
  8. Nah, you just wanted to be first. That’s admirable.
  9. I’m listening to her now… chills like always but older stuff… not alone long ride home florida let him fly when it don’t come easy stolen car heavenly day rain (first song I heard of hers that made me listen to all her music) mary top of the world icicles fly She’s so fucking good. She’s covered Guy Clark and Bruce Springsteen of course I think she’s amazing.
  10. One of her best. Absolute genius. My ex and I were huge PG fans it’s hard music to listen to but another example of carving it back for me. She’s a tremendous talent. Frankly her story telling is of a similar style as Bruce. Anyone that likes her that doesn’t like him I question if they’ve deep dived his music. The over lap between the two on stolen car is a perfect example of their similarity. You’d never know stolen car wasn’t her song, and if he covered when it don’t come easy you’d assume it was his. both very top of their game. Bruce just got the top 40 fame.
  11. I’m at that age that I’m starting to calcify in my tastes, at least with artists of a certain era, I’ll admit I have not spent much time in her newer music but I’ll say, “when it don’t come easy” might be the second greatest love song ever written. …. “I’ll drive out and find you…” gets me, every, time. these lyrics are so fucking tight… ”Red lights are flashing on the highway I wonder if we're gonna ever get home I wonder if we're gonna ever get home tonight Everywhere the waters getting rough Your best intentions may not be enough I wonder if we're gonna ever get home tonight But if you break down I'll drive out and find you If you forget my love I'll try to remind you And stay by you when it don't come easy I don't know nothing except change will come Year after year what we do is undone Time keeps moving from a crawl to a run I wonder if we're gonna ever get home You're out there walking down a highway And all of the signs got blown away Sometimes you wonder if you're walking in the wrong direction” man that song is so good.
  12. that's a great story. I'll admit, losing my first love to divorce and all that happened made "if I should fall behind" feel like a song of failure for me, and I've worked hard to repurpose it, as i have with much of the music that I held dear from a prior life, but this one we are talking about is still so absolutely pure I can't and won't lose it for what it is, the most poignant and beautiful love song I've ever heard. I think your point about "deeper cuts" and music that isn't super popular in his catalog and how your wife was stunned and became an instant convert is on point - I could actually take or leave his anthem rock, top 40 stuff, it's fun and okay, but if you like folk music, if you like meaningful lyrics, if you like artists with undeniable melancholy in their music then there is no way you aren't a Bruce fan unless you haven't taken the time to explore. I go back to "Straight Time" - it's one of the few songs I know where my mind paints the picture, I'm actually watching a movie in my head while he's singing that song - and I think the music fan that loves music with these attributes might have that one track in their top 10 all time and that's from someone who mainlines TVZ and a bunch of other troubled souls on the reg (Pancho and Lefty is another I sometimes see a movie in my mind's eye while listening). Highway 29 is another I'm watching the movie as I listen. And that is the most telling fact for me if an artist is really good at their craft, when the movie just plays in my mind, you're listening to a fantastic artist. Bruce is absolute upper echelon on story telling, somber, folksy, melancholic sounds and if that's your style and you haven't deep dived Bruce's catalog you are way missing out.
  13. his solo stuff is meh.
  14. Funny you say this, I have a shit ton of bass leaders and flies, and the fish were popping last night down by the boat dock. I could spend $500 plus tip to float a river in centex or $850 plus tip to pole around in skinny bay waters for reds, or I could toss a popper out by the boat dock and not even spend gas money to get there. That’s winning right there.
