  1. Rockport will be 20 degrees cooler, we’re outta here for this go round.
  2. This is all I care about. It’s the only reason I’m ok with the SEC to begin with.

HB 229 that defines only two sexes and codifies trans does not exist under Texas law passed the house. Headed to Patrick’s senate next where a similar bill, S84 already has been filed. Implications are not 100% clear but it would likely mean identification changes of any kind will cease. As for retroactive reversals I don’t know. the other two bills - the prohibition on adult gender affirming care in certain circumstances and the criminalization of identifying as your correct gender are still unmoved and pending at the state affairs committee. its days like today when I wished I believed in heaven and hell.

Well, that was nice while it lasted…. for 3 minutes.
  5. I’m clearly gaining muscle weight. I need to find my new baseline can’t tell it it’s up 5 lbs or more. My only complaint is *I think* it’s about 10 lbs of belly fat I need to drop to get back to my preferred body composition there. But I can’t use the scale right now to gauge. I might pull out the measuring tape I dunno. on the fitness side - fuck yes. Lost track but I’m at 14 weeks now? In better physical shape than before I got Covid even. Played some competitive tennis yesterday and lunged to dig out some hard skidders on my back hand side and some short balls too. There’s nothing better as a tall drink of water being able to get low like that to dig out the low stuff and win the point. weight training is so bad ass, my energy level is back to early 40s, weekends and even weeknights are go go go again. I LOVE it! nutrition - cut back again on alcohol none during the week and I think it’s helping. Appetite is settling in too I think. Besides less alcohol (down to 4 drinks a week), it’s protein smoothie before weights, peanut butter and an apple after a workout. I need to up that to whole food but the smoothie is easy and has banana, peach, spinach in addition to whey protein. At this point I think I’m stabilizing calorie intake wise. peak craze a couple of weeks ago … I ran through the P Terrys drive through for a double double (no fries) at the OG location, then went through the P terrys drive through for the same order in westlake on my way home 30 min later. It was a bit of a drive through of shame the second time.
  6. Baseball Blueblood! People discount it but in most sports a new Texas HC has to FAFO about Arky. The hate from them - which can translate to emotion - which if channeled properly can translate into motivation and then into focus - which is the currency of champions - is next level, might be the highest level. Add pitching woes and some offensive production issues with the number one ranking and anyone coulda told you @ Arky was a trap series. let’s win today and next weekend and prove last weekend was a fluke.
  7. He definitely should win the heisman
  8. Nice momentum changing win, pull up your under roos and let’s get the series tomorrow fellas. Need the bats boys.
  9. I taped it had some family stuff tonight. Disgusting. Even with the 6 spot first inning, we had enough going on offense if we capitalize to make it a game after 2-3 innings. Two out offense sucked dick. Fucking pisses me off.

But you do have strong feelings about it you think Ana’s position represents one of the sides. That position is the very fucking problem we are talking about. It’s destroying lives, and frankly our society over what should be a private decision between patients, parents for minors, and healthcare and mental healthcare professionals. Full stop.

if you aren't trans or if a loved one of yours isn't trans then there is no side for you to be on. none whatsoever. the both sides is what to do about it - treat it or wait to see what happens, those are two sides to the issue when you take politics out of it. the side that wants to interject politics into it with legal bans from a party that turns around and says "but parental rights" is fucking hypocrisy at its finest. and the states that want to let a child determine their own future without parental involvement - at least to me - is problematic as well. So yes there are two sides to the issue among sane humans who chose to accept transness as a mere fact and chose not to politicize it. to put it bluntly, there are facts that are immutable at this point - gender dysphoria is a real thing, transition is the best treatment for those with gender dysphoria. there cannot be both sides on the facts. there can be both sides on how to treat it. those who advocate for bans don't believe transition is an effective treatment (but they realize they can't really stop adults at least not right now from transitioning). facts are not both sides, what to do about the facts can be and here it's how to go about treating the situation humanely and effectively. anyone who cannot join that conversation deserved to be banned from the conversation - and frankly I'm not talking about Ana, I'm talking about the larger society. there I said it, facts are not up for debate.
  13. thank god I kept my mouth shut when I had long covid. one of the most influential experiences of my life - my brain was FUBAR'd for seven months.
  14. Locals…. Maybe scratching the itch tomorrow morning, how’s brushy creek looking after some rain? I might just go down to the boat dock here but I could be convinced.
  15. I talked the fly shop owner into bringing 2 Scott 3wt rods into the shop for me to demo. He's also got a Winston 3wt in stock, so I can pick from those 3. I'm having him string up the Ross Colorado reel with the line I want and I'll cast all 3 and pick my favorite. Awesome way to do it. Oh, and congrats on staying under $1000.

You don’t have to put aside empathy for those who are suffering to fight back, you fight back because of the empathy toward those who are suffering.

thank you and I really want to underscore that what is truly non-negotiable here for anyone one close to this issue - not just me, not just a trans kid, not just a questioning kid who isn't trans, and not just the parents or ex-husbands, ex-wives, the parents of adult trans folk and the kiddos of trans folk - but all of us - is that empathy, compassion and open-mindedness, a willingness to listen and understand it deeply needed. This shit is fucking painful (mostly because of the lack of those things). I'll be brutally honest, I'm having a really hard time with the way the political climate has changed society the last 8-9 years. It's taking its toll. Every fucking day hurts. Please remember that is not unique to me, that is what everyone who is truly close to this issue deals with right now. (and lest I be seen as narrowly focused on my own lot in this life, the same goes for POC, I cannot imagine the pain, suffering and fear of those who are in the bullseye of the immigration terror)

I have a hard time with that intent as well. having parents as gatekeepers is an imperfect construct, but its better than absolute bans and in many, many cases its better than kids having complete control over their lives at such a young age. maybe that's my historical conservative leanings, but if we could design an optimal scenario, it's no bans and parents, doctors, mental health professionals and the child (patient) making informed decisions about what's best for them in an intimate, careful, thoughtful and knowledgeable way. and of all the weak points we can uncover in all the various ways this can play out - red state bans, blue state exclusions of parents, or parents having a voice and say in the process, the inclusion of parents to the exclusion of the state in all respects is the closest to the ideal that I can come up with, so the risk of misinformed and bad parenting is a risk I think we have to accept.

all of the shit that crosses into what evangelicals and catholics think are biblical issues are completely fucked up - abortion, gender affirming care, assisted suicide, right to die, death penalty, I'm sure there is more, but EVERY SINGLE ONE of these issues is FUBAR'd politically. That is 100% the root cause of the problem here. I have tremendous empathy for anyone ground up in these issues - in any way - because of this reality.
