  1. being super serious - total NP/SP hack - go see the Humboldt Redwoods and Rockefeller Forest right before thanksgiving or during the Christmas holiday. NO ONE is there. You could literally shit right next to the bear and it wouldn't happen because no one is there to see it. One of the greatest moments of my life standing there int he forest by ourselves with only the sounds of the forest and our tinnitus to hear.
  2. Thank god some of the best forests are actually California state parks… you haven't lived until you've spent the day in Humboldt Redwoods State Park with no one else around.
  3. what trump wants is one thing, who he's handed the reigns over to and what they want are something else. Trump wants money, ego strokes, and power. I thought I read he was considering a far left run but Bannon convinced him the far right was already packaged up and ready for the taking. Trump is apolitical, I don't think he gives a fuck except for money, ego and power. He's had to work with the far right to get what he wants, but it's a means to a end not a goal itself. The far right is a combination of pain for the unrighteous and theft for the oligarchs. marriage made in heaven, especially for the religious oligarchs.
  4. dat hair. fuuuuuuuuck.
  5. thanks for the link. i'll check it out, you are correct some will always care.... I think our fellow citizens really wouldn't care at the level that is required to legislate like they are now. but I could be wrong.
  6. I’ve used the term “tranny” for emphasis and self empowerment - but even I should probably stop. It’s ironic because in the before times I really didn’t care about language I cared about outcomes, but here I am being the language police. It matters, I just wish times were different
  7. And apparently Quentin Tarantino ….
  8. that's bad ass. honestly brisket's use and francisco's use didn't offend but it's a slippery slope and invites all the fuckstains to come out with even more gusto.
  9. no, legislative cruelty is what is making me/us nervous.
  10. Dems squandered their alliance with the working class, middle class and immigrants. It’s true. Biden and Harris had the right policies and spent equal time on equality, working class issues and saving democracy. It’s the right platform, but it was a generation too late. no one will care about trans rights if the middle and working classes aren’t being robbed blind, at this point though I agree we need a celebrity - to be clear a middle aged straight white guy - who preaches Bernie Sanders’ message, and once elected does all three - restores and promotes equality (super easy with one law passed - the federal equality act - and it’s done and done), saves democracy (rebuilds the federal work force strategically) and with the most focus and fanfare - builds back the working class and middle class. He needs to spend nearly all of his visible focus on working and middle class issues, full stop.
  11. Like I told Francisco, tranny isn’t your slur to use - even if you’re using it as an ally or in a neutral connotation.
  12. There’s virtually no FDA approved treatment for long covid. It’s a shitty situation all around, pure misery. At every turn, I balanced risk and reward and the two most beneficial treatments had very little risk. My dad used to supervise patients in the chamber at hospital hyperbaric chambers. So I’m not totally unfamiliar, but this new “consumer facing” approach with companies with multi locations and a single MD as part of the team is kinda crazy. Same with ketamine. I also nixed hyperbaric 02 because of possible side effects. Thankfully, I made it all the way back from some devastating symptoms but I’ll tell you I don’t fault anyone trying what’s available, that syndrome is fucking hell.
  13. in the mornings, most mornings, this is how I feel. But late at night I’m not so sure. In the end, the appeal for adventure and a 5x amplifier on spending power makes leaving extremely inticing.
  14. Man I haven’t heard his name called in years…. And his one chance to get my attention and Transylvania is the best he can do?
  15. I follow some gramers that show real estate for sale in northern Italy. Rarely on IG anymore but when I check it they catch my eye. but I already have you and me down for a circumnavigation before you settle down in Italy, even though you don’t yet - or now do - know it. So build that in mkay?
  16. No worries. None at all my friend.
  17. I nixed hyperbaric oxygen as a possible long covid treatment because of the claustrophobia risk but was willing to come back to it if everything else failed. Luckily EECP was my last treatment and it did the job.
  18. I don’t know a single liberal who ever thought Russia was an ally, not the biggest threat? Sure. But noting Russia as 3rd or 4th on the list of enemies is a far cry from Trump/Vance doctrine. Only Republicans have done a 180 on Russia, there is no both sides here.
  19. I’d also add that apart from maybe rivian you’d be hard pressed to find a better EV than the model S. Those saying it seems cheap, I don’t know about the Y and the 3 but I’ve not thought the X or the S were cheap. Extremely simple yes. I still enjoy driving it. But if I had to chose now I’d get a used Rivian.
  20. Politics aside and I won’t buy another god damned tesla for anything - but I bought both an S and an X used. I’ve had virtually no issues either them. AC repair on the X and a door handle on the S, that’s about it. Everything else minor. Battery degradation is minimal. Both over 100,000 miles. Our X is a 2016 and has 220 max range and it’s never an issue except frequent stops on road trips. 2016 is still highly relevant due to software based controls. No car play though. The thing is though, there are so many options now and in a year or two the used market for all the other OEMs will start to develop. Not sure our next one - it won’t be a tesla - but it will almost surely be used. The lack of mechanical systems and parts makes buying a used EV just that much more logical.
  21. I appreciate the sentiment, but it’s not your slur to use.
  22. Highly likely we leave. Politics plus cost of living. I like really nice things, I’d like to live like a queen. I’d like to feel politically safe. If I can’t have both of those here which looks increasingly unlikely then we leave. Grandkids if we have any are the only thing I think will totally hold us back. But then if we live like queens we can fly them to see us or we can come back to see them.
  23. yeah, it's all new to me, not sure what the deal is but this treatment and the others coming down the line don't seem to distinguish causation / effectiveness. to be honest, I'm taking a break from health care right now, last year was so intense but I'm going to circle back on this later this year I think.
  24. bimodal neuromodulation https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-024-50473-z I have tinnitus to a degree, I think it was an unnoticed symptom of covid the first time I got it way back when, it was worse this time around and I still have some eustachian tube blockage that I think is from this round of covid that I'm working on, once that clears out I'll see where my tinnitus lands. I think it's slowly getting better right now but it's hard to say. it rarely disturbs me but I do want to take care of it. This biomdal neuromodulation sounds promising but it's a helluva commitment, there's some other treatments that should be coming out, if you rabbit hole tinnitus treatments you'll find a few others. I think over the next few years there may be insurance/FDA and other breakthroughs that make treatment more accessible.
