  1. Since the store ran out of Styrofoam covers, I wrapped one faucet in a junk (bath-sized) towel and then covered it with an old insulated lunch bag. No drip, no freeze. I should concede that the faucet was on my west wall and immediately outside my constantly dripping kitchen faucet (with open cabinets). Never lost power (except for thirty minutes). The faucet on my east wall already had a Styrofoam cover and I didn't mess with it at all.
  2. Had my first Pfizer shot last Tuesday. I've been on a keto diet for a few weeks and I was strangely hungry after the shot. I upped my meals from 2 to 3 each day. Was very fatigued, which finally cleared up yesterday. Slight soreness at the injection site for a day-and-a-half. Slight muscle/body aches up until a couple of days ago. Occasional headaches for the first few days. No fever. Hornier than usual.
  3. iOS 14.4. Safari in private mode.
  4. I've encountered two problems recently. 1) Over the last couple of months, while on private mode Safari/iOS, when I log in my stored password does not work. When I'm sent back back to the login screen the password works fine. This is an intermittent problem, but happens more often than not. 2) Over the last few days, the Submit Reply button on the website has been slow as hell (Windows 10 Pro/current Firefox). It might take 30 seconds to save a reply.
  5. I had to give notice once while my boss was on an unannounced vacation. Fortunately it was a small company and I just went to the company president instead.
  6. Like a meta-shit-on-blast thread?
  7. Quite the humblebrag that it takes until your first step to feel old.
  8. I'm very pleased with Pietro's portrayal in the sitcom. He was dead-on with his portrayal of a 1980s, ethnic European brother.
  9. Low rise jeans on women. Juicy sweatsuits. Uggs. Whale tail. Cargo pants. Western shirts with pearl snaps. Pleather. Hot Topic shifting from more goth/emo to more emo and pop culture. Killer airbags. Cars with more ground clearance and bigger small cars, e.g. Sentras and Corollas. Goatees, not full beards. Tribal tattoos.
  10. USS DIscovery: "It's bigger on the inside." It almost seemed like a callback to Galaxy Quest's ridiculous ship layout. They need to save self-satirization for Lower Decks.
  11. Even though it's been awhile since I've read the books, I recall that character as just kinda shitty in general. He's playing it very well.
  12. In retrospect, even though it was a good season, nothing topped the end of the first episode. True believers.
  13. The special effects were not so great in retrospect, but very serviceable for the time. The first four seasons, at least, were quite good space opera, in the mode of Dune.
  14. I remember the book version of this season as more exciting.
  15. My fax number, (needed for dealing with the IRS), used to belong to a pharmacy. Every time I got a fax from a doctor's office, I would call them to let them know about their mistake. If they were rude or I couldn't reach them, I'd report them for the HIPAA violation. DHS would follow up with a letter listing the penalty, which was usually remedial education.
  16. I don't sleep without my CPAP. When I was a frequent traveler, (and before they had small, convenient battery-powered CPAPs or accessible power outlets on airplanes), I would stay up through red eye flights even if it meant a day longer than 30 hours. Being dependent on a machine sucks. But the sleep is so much better.
  17. Loved the opening with Amos and Peaches pissing in the field. A little too much Naomi and not enough everyone else. I guess they want to show that she really struggled to get her message out.
  18. That's kinda the point, not getting it. Vision is back, alive and living with Wanda in a black & white, 1950s sitcom. Both are lacking crucial memories of how they got there. There's more going on than a mere sitcom. Vision's behavior is atypical. It's a mystery with a ridiculous backdrop. A great job at making us, the audience, feel cognitive dissonance.
  19. I read the books years ago, so I can't comment openly. From the show, I have no idea where the protomolecule is. Book spoiler below:
  20. Maybe they're in the "Facebook Friends I want to bang" thread?
  21. This is true. I've had to message several attractive women while trying to track down my Tío Louis or find information on my Costa Rican heritage. (That they're attractive is a coincidence.)
  22. If your mom or dad has done AncestryDNA, it will say "Father's side" or "Mother's side" next to the names of relatives of the parent who has also taken the test. Does Ancestry list any relatives, let's say grandparents to uncles/aunts to second cousins, whose name you should know, but you don't? You can try uploading your data to GEDMatch or also doing 23andme to see if you can get more info (without asking mom or dad what really happened).
  23. That's pretty much in the middle of the range for a full sibling, so it's possible that she is a full sibling your mom put up for adoption while your dad was out of country. Or one or both of your parents isn't actually related to you.
