    Getting old sucks

If I get one more notice from AARP to join, I'm going to sue them for harassment and emotional damage. I'm only 56. Also, where did all my muscle mass go? I don't want to be that old guy at the gym who's curling 2-lb dumb bells, but I'm heading that direction.
  3. If he get's out of the first round, I think he gets the job (as long as the 2nd round exit isn't a blow-out to A&M). 4. Does Switzerland have any leverage if some country says Screw you, we're giving the weapons to Ukraine any way. Besides not sell them any more weapons? Are the Swiss like John Deere where they have remote kill switches built in?
  5. Wild animals are not pets. She is currently living in the Fuck Around phase.
  6. I haven't followed the case that close. Please tell me the cops did claim a match to a gun based on old shell casing. Unless they have some rare odd ball gun that damages the casing when it ejects it, there are no unique marks. Matching like that is TV CSI crap. The level of gun matching you can do from a shell casing is "It was a 9mm".
  7. I'm pretty sure that was an episode of ST:TNG...maybe even two different episodes.
  8. Both films? You find the original Airplane devoid of humor?
  9. The movie projector with The Wizard of Oz must be just out of frame.
  10. To me that looks like an addict needing his stuff. Not sure what his claimed drug of choice was, but give that guy a handful of Adderall, or Vicodin, or whatever and he'd probably look normal.
  11. He may be full of shit, but his 12-1 record last year means he's also full of potential. You can talk as much shit as you like if you can back it up.
  12. A number of points in no particular order: Not all people are disciplined enough (or wired right) to do a longer online class. You know you kid and if he could follow through. That seems a little high cost wise and is a quite a bit long; but maybe that's the trade off for an online class. I had a son do EMT training and for him, having a live instructor to ask for clarifications and explanation as well as having answers to deeper questions was invaluable. Whatever ever class he takes, he would still have to pass a (national? state?) certification test. Make sure he understands that you expect him to take that...that's basically like a final grade to show he actually learned something. The in person classes also have you do ride-along with ambulances. With the ride along, they usually have a requirement of 'at least X transports to a hospital'. So you don't know exactly how many rides that might take, but you start to see some things. Here's one highly rated one that's $1100, but there are a lot of good ones: https://www.schertz.com/421/EMT-Training-Academy Note - of that 16 weeks, probably 4 weeks is set aside for scheduling and doing the ride alongs. the class instruction itself is probably about 3 months of 3 days a week classes. I'm not sure who all needs the EMT Cert, but I know All firefighters have to have it in Texas.
  13. And we really need this one to happen: Putin will go the way of Stalin,Hitler, Ceausescu, Saddam.
  14. From a technical point of view, the database isn't even that big and would be the easy part; the hard part is the quality of data. In the US, or any Western nation, you would have have to spend a painfully-large amount of time cleaning the data. Merging duplicate records, resolving conflicting records, filling in incomplete records, that kind of stuff. You would never be able to go live until it was pretty damn good. But I don't think the Russians really care about getting their data good; they only need it good enough. 80/20 rule. You can get an 80% solution for 20% of the effort. We see a lot of incompetence and corruption getting exposed in Russia, but there are lot of Russians who are very good at Software and IT. So yes, I can see them actually rolling this out far faster the the US ever could. But the folks they call up are still not going to get any meaningful training, leadership, or weapons. It'll just feed the meat-grinder faster.
  15. I'm curious enough to ask surly, but not curious enough to look it up myself: Does Texas have a similar state law requiring an FCC-certified person test such devices?
  16. You're probably thinking that the "John Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions" must be some non-partisan, non-bias research group that is honestly looking for solutions. It's part of John Hopkins after all, and that's a prestigious organization, right. Well, that happens to be the new name for the "Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence" which is the non-profit branch of the advocacy group called "Coalition to Stop Gun Violence". That coalition was formerly known as "National Coalition to Ban Handguns", but they changed their name because they decided they wanted to ban more than just handguns. The organization was founded on the idea of banning private gun ownership. They fact that their 'research' just happens to align with, and recommend steps toward, their founding principals should surprise no one.
  17. I'd be up for a good movie, but this trailer makes me think the thrill is gone. The trailer for vol. 2 was awesome. Baby Groot plugging some cable in to the bass line of Fleetwood Mac's The Chain....Or Baby Groot and Rocket and the bomb button. Two or three years later and I still remember the trailer. Vol 3? I've seen it twice and don't recall anything in it, or the music. The trailer is a dud. Maybe they drop another trailer with some good stuff, but more likely the movie is just a giant re-hash pile to trash.
  18. I want you to close your eyes and picture no alcohol at all. Prohibition. Can you see it? The Mobs. The crime. The hypocrisy. The wide spread disobedience. Now imagine she's white with guns.
  19. Cross-era conversations are always hard. Mahomes is the best QB playing right now... ...but the 70s were a different game.
  20. Fine. Mahomes Montana Mahomes is climbing the GOAT list, but he still has some work to do.
  21. Better than Montana? Agree to disagree. At the rate he's going, he probably will be at some point, but not yet in my book. Super Bowl Stats. NAME GP W CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG YDS/G TD TD% INT INT% SCK SCKY RATE Joe Montana 4 4 83 122 68.0 1,142 9.4 285.5 11 9.0 0 0.0 7 30 127.8 Patrick Mahomes 3 2 73 118 61.9 738 6.3 246.0 5 4.2 4 3.4 7 45 79.7
  22. The only real negative with Mahomes when discussing his place on the All-Time list is his short time in the league. Six years total. He's below Brady, and Montana, but then it get's harder. Probably still below Peyton, Elway, Brees, and Aikman I'd say he's already ahead of Rodgers, Eli, Staubach, Bradshaw, Roethlisberger, Young, Wilson So, I guess I'm slotting him in around 7th all-time.
  23. I think if there was a chance for ceasing hostilities in that first month or so there absolutely would have been international pressure for Ukraine to give us territory. The price of Peace. At this point I think we are way past that. Even if some fuck-stick US politicians want to stay on Team-Russia and push for a 'fair' settlement, the majority of the world correctly (IMHO) sees that as a bad deal in the long run. This ends with Ukraine getting all their territory, including Crimea, or a nuclear blast. At this point, I really don't see a path where Russia keeps any of it.
  24. Same as any other strong-arm dictator, Erdogan will not lose an election. His exit from power can only come by his death, a coup, or fleeing to exile.
