  1. I feel like this asshole was qualified to be an instructor at Andrew Tate's "Hustler University" https://tateshustlers.com/
  2. I'm told Tahiti is a magical place.
  3. Oh god, please make it stop. We are well into Scorcher territory at this point.
  4. These two stats are simply to high for me to accept at face value. I looked up https://www.storefrontsafety.org/statistics and it throws up more red flags and the strong smell of BS. They've been collecting store front crash data for 10 years and claim to have 25,000 crashes. They shared their data with Lloyds of London who concluded it was credible but "At the most conservative, it appears that the SSC database captures 1 in 12 incidents (8.33%)." So based on that, they concoct the number of "100 times a day". That's some Grade-A Bull Shit right there. 100 a day would be 36,000 in a single year. And yet, over 10 years of actively searching and research they only have records of 25 thousand total? And, of course they don't have an open database of those 25,000. Storefront crashes may be a problem, and I'm glad the guy who lost both legs got paid, but this is not the problem this story makes it out to be.
  5. That's like smearing shit all over the Mona Lisa.
  6. I know who is from Austin Powers, but my first reaction was "I don't know any Burt Bacharach songs", then I looked as his Wikipedia page and the list of songs he wrote. Oh, I know that, and that, and that... {repeat} https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_written_by_Burt_Bacharach He first charted on the US pop chart in 1958 and for the last time in 1994. That's a 37 year span. And he was married to Angie Dickinson in her prime. The guy lived life to it's fullest. RIP.
  7. Holy early '70s flashback.
  8. I switched to TaxAct.com from TurboTax about four years ago and it's handled every thing like a champ: rental properties, side businesses, weird inheritance issues, etc, except one issue. I have trouble every damn year getting the 1099 from Schwab to import correctly. How can this be so f-ing hard. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play.
  9. I was there this past Oct, and Waikiki is just a happy place. Gotta do Shave Ice. There's a bunch of places right on the strip (Kalakaua Ave) that sell Save Ice. (No idea why it's not called Shaved Ice, but it isn't, so when in Rome...). On a sunny afternoon, its very refreshing. There's something fun about a crowded beach, but if you get peopled out and want a beach with less people, hit the south side of Diamond Head. You can just park on the side of the road and walk down ramps to the beach. If you like to run, the loop around diamond head is almost exactly 4.0 miles and is very safe for runners. The Pearl Harbor memorial is free to enter and walk around, but if you want to take the ferry to the USS Arizona, you have to be there early. It's first come first serve. By mid-morning the tickets for the ferry are gone.
  10. Holy crap. I forgot Iggy Pop was actually young once. My mental image of him has been forever etched to be the old-man-who-really-needs-to-put-a-shirt-on.
  11. That is the most HOLY SHIT filled video I can recall seeing. Damn.
  12. That was a very snappy straight-right. After some of these hair-pulling slap fights, that was a nice improvement. I don't know if that girl has done some Mc Dojo lessons or just has an abusive dad, but she picked some skills up somewhere.
  13. What am I missing? Why would the B12 be "ready to end this". From the B12's point of view, isn't it better the longer we're here?
  14. Lolwut? Watch the back of Burrow's chest protector. That is _never_ allowed in NFL games.
  15. For me, the infamous Lakers-Kings Game 6 was like catching Dad placing presents under the Christmas tree. I knew intellectually that Santa wasn't real, but I wanted to believe so I just went with it. I didn't want to accept that games were rigged, right up until I watched a game that showed the undeniable truth that major Pro sports really were fixed (at times). Any time there is a game where calls alter the trajectory of the game I have to wonder. 3 quick fouls on a star NBA player; a couple early drives extended or ended by a call on a lineman that literally be called every play. I'm now jaded.
  16. I really want to know what they _thought_ was going to happen. I know 23 is young, but has she never watched TV? Germany must have a some homegrown show like CSI, or Law and Order. Maybe a Nazi and Order or something. Literally any show with an ME character would have educated them better.
  17. From https://nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/indicator/cta/undergrad-degree-fields 150K Social Sciences and History Majors per year is a lot of folks asking if I "want fries with that?". The number of Psychology Majors surprised me enough to google why. Seems Psychology is the generic 'I-need-a-college-degree-but-I-don't-know-what-I-want-to-do-and-I-don't-want-Business' degree of choice for a lot of females. (79%). Nothing wrong with that; it's much more employable than gender studies. Really surprised that the # of Engineering degrees isn't higher.
  18. Damn, it's true, everything's more deadly in Australia.
  19. Let's not get all Cloaky here, so here's my only reply on this topic.
  20. I know officials need to prepare for the worst, and releasing the video late seems prudent, but is anyone really feeling like "cities are going to burn"? Maybe there is a racist angle to the cops being fired so quickly; I really don't know, but they were fired and the wheels of justice are turning. The video may be bad, and it may give people another reason to hate cops, but it doesn't feel the same as George Floyd. Full disclosure: I'm white, so WTF do I know.
  21. I'm waiting for the day (soon) where I can ask an AI bot like ChatGPT to do my work, and then turn that work in as my own. There is probably going to be a window of a few years before employers get smart and cut out the middle man. Big Tech Exec1: We can have AI write our new software product for $10 Million, or we can hire 50 US developers, or 500 Indian developers. Big Tech Exec2: Screw it, human software always sucks. Let's just pay the money and get the software complete today.
  22. Triumph just caught the end of the 70s with a 1979 album release....but the song got lot of airplay in the early 80s.
  23. Wow. This cover does indeed meet the criteria of the thread title. I'm not really familiar with kd lang as an artist, it seems like I mostly recall her for talking about her sexuality on talk shows or pissing off cattle farmers, but damn, can she sing. I clicked on the link expecting to give it the proverbial Gong after 10-20 seconds, but this one made it to the end...twice.
  24. What exactly do you have in mind that they would teach for your "verify" line item? Have them check Wikipedia? Have them check _insert_fact_checking_website_of_your_choice (that 50% of people are going to claim is biased)? Have them find and read original peer-reviewed scientific, medical, or statistical articles? Have them track down a full video/transcript of an event being reported on? Having a good idea that something is wrong is one thing, but 'verifying' it is hard and takes a long time. You can short-cut the process and stop at 'trusted' sources, but of course different people will trust different sources.
  25. I'll have to take their word for it. Maybe I've been getting laid wrong all these years.
