@TwiceHorn you can jump in his grave after we shoot him then we'll shoot both of you.
Jk.
But - raw onions and pickles and white bread and sauce and brisket?
NO on the raw onions. My south Texas wife hates cilantro. There is about 5% of population that has a gene where cilantro smells and taste like soap. Maybe same for me and onions. I have tried to train my tastebuds but it just never works.

Both of you should be handed a cigarette and then shot by firing squad but hey man we love the contributions.
Well my most hated food is raw onions. Any raw onions. So nobody has same tastes.

Not going to go back in this thread so don’t know if has been mentioned.
Not sure if a Texas thing or poor people. Love them both. Thanks Dad.
Buttermilk with saltines crunched up inside glass. Cornbread smashed up inside a glass of milk.
Wife just cannot believe it.
Of course her favorite thing is canned pear halves with mayonnaise. NO. Had too much of that shit growing up.-

Gas stations with Laredo Taco Company inside. Good shit.
I will admit a little better than the “wrapped in foil for 2 days” tacos but not awesome. Just better than stopping and getting a real breakfast.

Ok. So my quest for birria tacos came from week before. Went to a D magazine rec for BBQ places. Wife ordered birria tacos. They were so weak. Consommé was beef broth out of a can with cilantro and onions. Thus she wanted better birria. Looked around and found good reviews for trompitoz taqueria. Was skeptical cause gas station but a 4.9 on google reviews. Usually a good sign. Plus they have 2 other locations so not a fly by night op. Tacos were street style size but lots of meat. Great consommé. Hard to get cashier to understand what I wanted so another plus in my eyes. Also have usual suspect fillings for tacos (tingas, chicharron, nopales, chorizo, carnitas.) Tortas and hamburgers. Also 3 birria tacos, rice and consommé is $10.99

What I like about these massive, indiscriminate tariffs is that they give me the chance to make my bootlegger dreams come true with an infinite variety of cargo. Maybe I'll smuggle lumber! Or injection molded dildos! Perhaps cell phones! French cheese! Whatever the case, at some point in the smuggling journey, I need to utilize a sweet wooden Chris-Craft, because motherfuckers, it's all about the style.
What’s the tariff on cocaine?
Since the gov boys are now only looking for tariff products, might as well import stuff they ain’t looking for.

So all of us here have had the offerings that are pre-made and wrapped in foil or the infamous Allsups fried burrito.
However I’m talking about the gas station/ convenience store “restaurant”
So even though my little true Mexican place in Wylie has Birria tacos wanted to find something different.
Trompitoz taqueria came up on search. In a convenience store. Allen TX.
Damn good Birria tacos. Also have Birria burritos, Birria grilled cheese, Birria egg rolls and usual Mexican meats.
Had 2 bites before taking pic. Not shown was consommé. Very rich. On trips to Allen HEB this will be a stop.

You know, one thing that occurred to me is that if I'm an American exporter who might be hurt by retaliatory tariffs from other countries, especially if my primary export market is China, why wouldn't I set up an assembly plant in Mexico, or hell, even in China, to avoid tariffs on my product?
Of course, this would, in turn, negate any job growth incentive at my existing American facility and would, in fact, make those American employees more vulnerable to mass layoffs, especially if I find it's more profitable to just close my American operations.
I think the problem there is how much of our non-agricultural exports are finished goods? A lot of stuff gets sent to other countries and comes back as finished goods. If I was a motivated person I might try and find those numbers.

I think the US Govt (elected and appointed officials) will be more keen to stay this course longer than the American consumer. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe 40% of Americans are too stupid to realize what has caused the deep recession we'll all be living in 6 months from now.
American consumers will riot in the streets before they allow any real pain. IMO.

Keep in mind the reason this shit isn't built in America is because 1) Intel turned Apple down at making chips for the first iPhone; 2) Intel, after spending years well ahead of everyone else (tsmc got hung up at 28 nm), got hung up at sub 14 nm and still really hasn't figured it out. Tariffs aren't going to fix that.
This ignores that tsmc and Samsung are already building huge new fabs here. These fuckers are going to show up to the openings to do a victory lap that their tariffs worked
I agree the chips can be made here. However look up the process to get that silicon into a usable product. That is advanced packaging and we have very small, low volume to do it here. Almost every silicon piece made here gets shipped to another country to become a “chip” ready to be installed in a final product.

Only time we had buttermilk was when mom made biscuits or fried chicken. I swear my looking for that stuff now is just me trying to chase the original (chicken) high.
