  1. A bit of a derail, but all this time when I saw the title of this thread, I read it as PK, what do you do in this instance or scenario? Not what do you do at your job or for UT or anything that general.
  2. Harkens me back to the days of David Thomas. They both play with the salt of the earth attitude and a fire in their belly. It's like they play for the fun of playing more than the accolades. And you are right, hurdling all the sudden is back to Wow status throughout the college game. Been noticing quite a bit more of it this year than in the past.
  3. What the polls are missing is this amazing wave of energy coming out of the rural and suburban areas. In 2020 I couldn't pay someone 20 bucks to put a Biden sign in their yard in my county. But this year they are nearly begging for signs and donating to our county party to keep up the good work. Not only yard signs, but the bigger 4x4' hiway signs are going fast too. People who live in the country want big signs so no one misses them as they whiz by. Donations coming in at a thousand per lick to get billboards up. Counties that had maybe one in 2020 are now seeing 4 or 5 being supported. Not all counties are like this, but a big chunk of them are and the demand for signs, stickers, buttons or whatever is like nothing we've seen before, and right along with it are people volunteering to write postcards, make calls and other outreach methods to help in this election. And all this came about after Biden stepped down and the Chicago convention. I have to think this is going on all over the country, not just here in Texas. I can't imagine the energy in those swing states. As far as Walz goes, he might not be helping everywhere, but he would fit in in so many rural areas so comfortably and people relate to that, vs Vance. I don't see him as a negative, or even a non-factor. He is appealing to those rural voters in so many states that might help blue tickets win more down ballot races. So, for the presidency he might be a draw, but for down ballot he's a plus. He makes it easier to not pull a lever for Trump. People could live with him in a position of power, they'd trust him.
  4. They had to develop a Trump filter to make sense of his ramblings. They use it so much, they never turn it off, and anyone talking coherently just won't compute in that filter. Pretty much like Texas and all it's carpetbaggers
  5. Thanks for presenting this in a way we can grasp and understand. I've always felt from very early on how Sark spoke of his addiction tribulations that he was a better person for it, and thought that it might help him relate to others. This discussion helps me understand that feeling I had better. I'm not certain that winning fixes everything. It might in the short term, but what kind of culture that spawns that winning is important. If they have to cheat or play dirty to win, then eventually that bites them in the ass eventually. I think A&M under Sherrill and RC, Baylor under Briles, Sooners under Switzer, etc. If they play like bullies and then run up against someone who bullies them back, they tend to shrink, to lose their confidence, I think. If you win but people by and large don't respect how you win, then it's not worth much. It's still a sport and underneath all that runs sportsmanship and respect. That's where Sark's culture fits, since so much is based on respect for each other, their opponents, and their own self-respect.
  6. At least in Texas, the deadline for a citizen reporting someone who should be investigated for purging past over a month ago. And likewise county wide election offices had to have their final voting roll cleanup reported about the same time. And this doesn't count all those who suffered (or are still suffering) from Long Covid. In the end that might be more devastating. Wouldn't that be tampering of the political portal? If anyone is interested, let me know. Some different county parties here in Texas are selling these. They're the only blue ones we have seen. We tried to get camo that was done in the shapes of Texas, Lone Star, etc. But not enough time to get that done.
  7. What happened to the Steinmark scoreboard from the shot above? I thought there was a plan to incorporate it into the NEZ. Also, do they still fly the flags for each conference school at the top of the bleachers?
  8. Here is the Secretary of State's list of Election Administrators by county. Election Administrators by county It also has a link at the top that takes you to county websites. Be aware that especially in the larger counties the address to send applications to vote by mail can be different than the county Election Administrators. Here's that link Emails and addresses for applications to VBM per county
  9. Yes. He hasn't been Barnstorming Beto, but he's most likely to do a public event tied to a fundraiser in the same area. I had a friend who went to see him not long after the Harris/Trump debate and said his messaging and delivery now is much better than at the beginning of the campaign. Would love to see an ad where it puts Cruz dribbling a basketball off his knee next to Allred sacking a QB.
  10. This is a good site as well. Progress Texas hosts it and it's easy to navigate and gives extra information like voter ID requirements and polling places and times. It's also multilingual with English, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin and Vietnamese. (I KNOW!!, the dreaded immigrants!) Go Vote Texas Also a great source for any questions for voting (early, in person, overseas or by mail) or to report any suppression crap going on at any polling site (inside or out) is the Texas Voter Hotline - 844 TX VOTES (844-898-6837). Its 8-5 up until early voting, and then 7-7. Also can look up polling times and locations for you. My Texas Votes TDP site
  11. It's almost like he's saying having to use car seats is slowing down procreation because it's either too inconvenient to strap all the babies in, or too limiting because you are constrained by the number of car seats you can fit in a car? But then he mentions how everyone should use car seats, so who the fuck knows? Maybe just retract the car seat laws and let people take their chances if they want? I guess if you have 8 kids instead of 2 then losing one or two in a wreck wouldn't hurt so bad.
  12. But that is going to work against all the contenders. Hopefully the voters take into account it's not about survivability, but prowess and skill as a player, for whoever the candidates are.
  13. Will they pull NIL money out of other sports (softball) to shore up the football program?
  14. Bet he wrote "incredibly stupid" first.
  15. I'm not sure if that happened, but it wouldn't be a horrible accusation to toss out and see who bites on it. To think our state is being run basically by Dunn, Wilkes and the cartel. Interesting.
  16. I've always held the belief that player development was key in building a strong team. What I didn't place enough weight on was the development of a staff who could develop talent around a core culture of belief in the program, the athletes and the staff. That we have now, and like so many of you have said, kids want to play here, coaches want to coach here, because Sark put this together. When you think about all the stress he had to be under from without and within a program as large as UT, it makes one marvel at his inner strength. Makes you think maybe the journey he has been on has brought him to this point. Not only the addiction, but the heart issues he faced at Bama. Instead of cratering and giving up, he's taken the challenge to learn from his past and work harder to make not only his world better moving forward, but also for everyone around him. To help them be the best they can. It's hard to describe without it sounding like a knob slobber, but suffice to say, he's a very unique person in the world of sports and we are lucky to have him. As are the people who work with him and under his tutelage.
  17. I don't know about the OD stuff, but I do know that tons of money has flowed into counties all across the country from Biden's programs for the CARES act (which morphed into the American Rescue Plan Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and all the money that gone into the infrastructure act (which is extremely hard to trace in Texas). Here's a link to click on to check out how your county fared. This link is only for Texas counties, and yes it says Lubbock, because Lubbock county is highlighted in this link. https://www.lubbockcounty.gov/egov/documents/1640033710_62425.pdf
  18. Texas Reps are already lining up to implement our own electoral college on all statewide offices, in an effort to offset the popular vote potential in the large Metro areas.
  19. How many coaches beyond Sark could have developed Quinn to this point? Of if not coaches, then what staffs? Maybe Kiffen? Gundy? Riley? Apparently being a premier QB whisperer alone doesn't make one a great head coach. Saban wasn't one, but he was a coach bright enough to hire good ones. I'd like to think we are in the unique situation of having both the whisperer and HC covered by the same person. But the point really is, I don't think QE ever gets developed to this quality anywhere else. Which would have been a shame. Bright people like the Mannings recognize this and buy in too.
  20. Reminded me of this instance: And then he stiffed them for the bill after telling the crowd he would take care of them. Guess that's part of the greatness he wants to bring back
  21. Gigem247: the only place where VIP is automatically the acronym for Very Ignorant Person.
