  1. That looks more like an intimidation ploy/photo op on 77.
  2. You are right. For the sake of brevity I didn't go into it as deeply as I should have. The system of checks and balances did work, but that hasn't been the headline. It's only been about the original oversight.
  3. Good indication she was held back a couple of years.
  4. Thanks guys. I do appreciate the input. I'm just trying to understand why a country would accept and sign off on something so toothless, unless there were corrupt players at hand in Ukraine who were basically Russian puppets just agreeing to this for show. I'm obviously not a scholar in this area and appreciate the patience.
  5. So our stance is that what Russia is doing is not an act of aggression? Maybe there' more in there that I didn't see. But that "or" to me seems to pretty well define two circumstances we would come to their aid, not just threat or use of nukes.
  6. The law that says every individual who wishes to vote by mail must make application to do so every year is ludicrous. Like getting your DL re-issued each year. To offset that Harris and other large counties would annually send out applications to those who had voted by mail in the previous elections. And we suspect them doing this led to the provisions in SB1 making it illegal for those counties to continue to send out unrequested applications. So the question is how well did that work? How many people didn't vote because the rules changed and they weren't aware of that? While there were a lot of ballots rejected, I would bet for every one rejected there were at least 5, maybe 10, that were never cast because they simply didn't understand what they needed to do. Fortunately they still have time to get in applications for the rest of this year's elections. I still think this is all intended to make voting so complicated it will lead to more mistakes like the 10,000 votes not included in Harris Co. The Republicans have no problem in losing good to excellent election administrators so in the near future there is even more turmoil. And the more turmoil and screw ups, the more argument they will have to say no elections can be trusted. Then what happens? I guess they will propose community committees which will determine our representatives, instead of elections. I really don't know. But I do know they are destroying our current system by undermining its credibility. I just don't know what they plan to do once it's laid low. While our Republicans in Austin might not be the brightest, they certainly are good at conniving.
  7. Hopefully she had a plan to get out of there and go to ground.
  8. I have to wonder if back in 94 it was considered that Ukraine wouldn't stick it out and sooner or later end up part of Russia again. And with that in mind, Clinton didn't push Russia too hard for a more resolute protection agreement for Ukraine, not wanting to poke the bear, or actually trusting them to their word.
  9. Dumb question amnesty please. So basically, Ukraine signed off on something even flimsier than our indigenous natives did. If Trump decides to not uphold this agreement, doesn't mean Biden can't. And if Biden says go for it, then Putin can come back and say it's not really legal, since his administration didn't sign off on that agreement? I just can't see how any of this will be good for nuclear reductions going forward, which is her point. Why didn't they put them in NATO under some sort of probation? We will give you X years of unlimited protection to get your country up to NATO standards and will continually assess your progress.
  10. EJI is excellent. I encourage everyone to follow them on social media and visit their memorial and museum in Montgomery. Get your free tickets beforehand online to avoid confusion getting in.
  11. Or charge a hefty surcharge and excess profits go to fund Ukraine resistance.
  12. Apparently not enough for Abbott and his crew. Let's dumb them down some more and put out the red flashing welcome sign to all those idiots looking to flee the blue states. Come to Texas, where you can be as stupid as you want and be part of the voting majority.
  13. Damn, my typing teacher was some dried up spinster. I only passed because i agreed to go plant her easter lily bulbs during christmas break. Still just eked by with like 60 wpm with extended time. I mean seriously. I'm in the parking lot headed into the store. Why not take a basket back in with me? Need the damned exercise anyway. Hello in There. So scared if Putin goes down Biden looks good and people start uncovering all the russian money trails into the red coffers. (this statement probably deserves a comma or two, but fuck it if I can figure out where.)
  14. It'll be the lede tomorrow on Fox. The really important things to discuss.
  15. You cannot say that with any certainty. The man possesses more material wealth than supposedly anyone else, but that doesn't seem to be enough to satiate his appetites. His mind and ego are different than most folks. There is no way you can positively state he wouldn't call for a nuke strike, most likely a localized one. I think he'd do it, but also tend to hope someone would step in and kill the order. Much like Trump's people supposedly giving him false codes. Even so, it's not worth the risk.
  16. No. Not insane. But tired of Putin bullying the world while he hold the nuclear grenade. I don't know what the answer is, but to live like this is insane. And we've been doing it in this country for nearly 70 years. I'd rather my grandkids not have to live under that same cloud. I'm just tired of it. We spend more than the next 10 nations on defense, but here we are, sitting with our hands tied because of that grenade while Putin invades, rapes, murders and terrorizes innocent citizens. Because he is crazy and might kill us if he doesn't get what he wants. No I am not pushing for Armageddon. I said that stupidly. I apologize.
  17. Russia Should Worry: The US Military Has Activated Its Strategic Materiel Stockpile https://www.19fortyfive.com/2022/03/russia-should-worry-the-us-military-has-activated-its-strategic-materiel-stockpile/ And it's entirely predictable he will stage something to make it appear the motherland is under attack by NATO. He already tried that at least once in the past 10 days. A big part of me wants to call his bluff now. Especially after seeing the condition of his army and armaments. I can't help but think how many Russian nukes will detonate in their silos and never get into the skies. I get that it's a risk, but the longer this goes on and the more losses he takes, the more fragile his ego will be. No off ramp and he'll just take out the whole world, then no one will be left behind to laugh at him. So we wait until he kills 25,000 Ukrainians? Like Brisket said, he knows we are much more capable of ruining him than vice versa. Give him an out and call his bluff. Just need some tiki torches. Why do they all look like extras in The Handmaiden's Tale?
  18. Don't forget to add in the extra insurance costs, too.
  19. I remember as a kid all the grandparents drove Fords and Chevrolets. They didn't need more. Now in my neighborhood the grandparents are driving Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Raptors. These old boomers are the ones who love them some luxury. And they seldom drive anywhere approaching the speed limit. And they have two cars, an RV and two tricked out golf carts.
  20. @Judge Roybeanbag beat me to that. Trump destroyed that wiggle room and many pointed it out at the time how dumb it was and forecast it would come around to bite us in the ass. The way many helped their balance sheets was paying down big credit card debts using the stimulus checks. The ones who really got helped were to uber wealthy like Bezos and those who defrauded the PPP program. I hope to hell we see lots of skins nailed to the wall during this new investigation. And these figures for real estate for millennials most likely includes a lot of properties being flipped or rented out, either long term or AirBnB style. Everybody wants to be a landlord these days. I'd bet 25% of that 12.5% is rental or spec properties. And some is probably driven by using inheritance investment. Just a guess.
  21. There is a caste of people who do not have the mental acuity to see past the immediate picture, be it globalism, climate or jobs. They just can't comprehend the possibilities, much less sift through the evidence and develop plans of action that can potentially make the world a better place to live. In the meantime our greedy corporations are plundering our resources and jobs, leaving behind a trail of waste materials, people and energy all to appease the lust for the almighty dollar. And that caste fully supports those capitalistic vultures holding them up as some sort of deity. They themselves know they can never own 7 yachts, but their company's CEO does, so by extension they can claim them too, though they will never set foot on one. Those are the people in that convoy. And those are the people our Republicans embrace for their votes. Because those are the people too dumb to see the big picture of anything, and vote by emotions, not intellect. They live for today and hope tomorrow sorts itself out. It always does. One way or the other.
  22. A huge chunk of his voters are mean, bitter, insecure people who like to see minorities put in their places, the dastardly welfare queens! ABC, NBC and CBS finished them off.
  23. Put on some pounds for Ukraine. https://www.cbsnews.com/video/texas-bakery-donates-to-ukrainian-military/ https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/06/us/san-antonio-bakery-donates-ukraine-texas/index.html
  24. This is what sets you apart. The fact that you can find all these things wrong with our decadent country, but then can in no way give anyone who isn't a "conservative" any credit for anything. There is no bipartisanship ever in what you espouse. This whole thing makes no sense. It's like you fully believe that Biden and his admin aren't working furiously to contain the rise in fuel prices. They aren't fucking Abbott paying back all his big O&G contributors. And how in the world would us curbing rising fuel costs kneecap putin? Over 600,000 barrels? Yeah, you are here mainly to show how shitty the US is and how it's too late to recover. That's you whole game plan. That's a troll.
  25. This doesn't help Harris Co look competent. Though what I am hearing from a lot of election offices is they are super frustrated and exhausted from trying to comply with all the new restrictions which seem to have new or additional interpretations daily. But you wait, coming out of this will come even more restrictive laws and procedures, which will make it almost impossible for a county to not make any mistakes. That will green light them to invalidate the larger county votes and throw out all the votes in those counties. This proposal is coming. It's the next in line. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/03/06/ballots-harris-county-democratic-primary/ Uncounted mail-in ballots discovered in Harris County add uncertainty to two Democratic races The 6,000 Democratic primary votes could be enough to impact the results in the races for attorney general and one state House seat.
