  1. I'm no football coach, but I would probably double the guy with 3 receiving TDs. Ah well, games almost over, no time for adjustments.
  2. I think he's down before he threw it, but it only saves about 6 yards or so. Still a dumb play by the QB, could have easily been a strip sack and TD.
  3. At least that story has a happy ending.
  4. And he has another 6 weeks to add a few more before his birthday. Not that it really matters as the offensive explosion in the league over the last few years waters down those kind of stats, but it's a nice indicator. Also a good a reminder that he's still very young, and no where near his prime. This team has a lot of really good players, but they are lacking that 1 superstar to take them over the top. I don't know how they are going to get that guy in a trade, but it needs to happen soonish while they still have a lot of cheap talent. I don't think Jimmy Butler is that guy, but they need to take advantage of a situation like that to really take a leap forward.
  5. I was just told that Coming to America is a Christmas movie. That's news to me. Does anyone else consider it.
  6. It's not the 2019 lineup, but the best 2023 lineup included Abreu when he was hitting like .230 and Meyers who is still there for defense. Aside from still needing a replacement for Tucker, they are pretty close to that when Yordan plays LF. Walker is a clear upgrade at 1b. Still need to get a decent OF bat to platoon and they will be pretty damn good next year. 90+ wins and another division title is quite possible. If Crane was willing to spend money like Steinbrenner, who is also worth about 3 billion, they would go get Santander on a 3/70 deal and add a couple pitchers to really round out the lineup.
  7. I mean, I thought Singleton wouldn't make the 40 because you now have Walker/Caratini/Diaz for depth there. They don't really need him, and I'm not even sure how they get all their best bats in the lineup right now. What's the best batting order now? Something like this? This would be 7 guys with over a .700 OPS in the lineup. If they can get another OF worth a shit at the plate, it would be close to Death Star Lineup levels. 1. Altuve 2b 2. Paredes 3b 3. Yordan LF/DH 4. Walker 1b 5. Diaz C 6. Pena SS 7. Caratini DH 8. Chas RF 9. Meyers CF Dubon to fill in.
  8. Really? I thought Singleton would be gone first, since Grae is a good defensive guy. He's great for relieving Altuve, whose defense is slowly degrading. I hope it's much further down the timeline, but at some point we may have an issue of needing the DH spot for Altuve and Yordan at the same time.
  9. Deal is 2 for 37m, and he doesn't even play average defense. Seems expensive to me for a DH. It's interesting to see how the market reacted to the Christian Walker deal. The Astros got the best 1B on the market, who will be a huge upgrade on defense as well as the plate for 3/60. Shortly after you see Goldy to the Yankees on 1/12.5m deal, Santana to the Guards 1/12, Naylor traded to the Diamondbacks, Lowe Traded to the Nats, and Alonso still out there waiting to sign a deal. I think the Astros got the best option they could at 1st, and whenever the Alonso deal comes through, it will look even better.
  10. Time to retract the playoffs to 8. None of these 9-12 teams belong, and we will probably see ASU doesn't belong next week either.
  11. Even Greg Davis would be embarrassed by that play design.
  12. Well, that should do it. This team isn't getting past the Chiefs this year.
  13. 0/4 on the Greg Davis special
  14. Yikes, such a shame to lose Tank to a dumb play like that. I don't think either receiver realized they were both going for the ball. Get well soon Tank.
  15. Oh no, they paid 6.4 million in taxes last year! How could any billionaire afford such surcharges?!?!
  16. Walker is a good pickup, can't be upset about that. Still need some OFs though. Anyone know how much room they have to spend on more guys?
  17. Even better get rid of aprons, get rid of trade restrictions, make a solid hard cap number. Allow trades that don't match salary at all, like Giannis for Wemby. Let teams determine the value of players rather than their contract terms. The league would be a lot better off, as teams could build or reset faster.
  18. Could the Astros trade Montero, send him with cash to cover his cost, and remove him from their luxury tax calculation? There are plenty of teams that never get close to the tax line that could take him for cheap.
