  1. At least he can give up a homer and still get the win.
  2. I agree, there isn't a single player out there that should ever get a deal before hitting RFA. Let someone else set the price, and figure out what the player will accept. The cap hold will significantly be less and provide flexibility for signing free agents that off-season, now they are handcuffed and unable to boost spending by the difference between cap hold and 1st year max salary. I hope the Cavs do that with Mobley next year, and the Rockets with Sengun. They both have cap holds in the low teens, which can open up some options with exceptions before signing them to deals. Philly waited on Maxeys extension until using their cap space, and I think that's the smart way to do it.
  3. But do people actually want to buy those? They look like jerseys from a video game that didn't get the license for MLB brands, and features guys named Bobson Dugnutt and Dwigt Rortugal.
  4. The Rays didn't keep Civale for long, after trading a top 50 prospect in Manzardo for him last year. Civale makes 4.9m this year, and has one more year of arbitration, so he's not terribly expensive. His ERA has been 5+ since joining the Rays though. The Milwaukee Brewers acquired right-hander Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, adding the veteran to a thin starting rotation in hopes of holding onto first place in the National League Central. Tampa Bay will receive infield prospect Gregory Barrios. Civale, 29, was dealt to the Rays near the trade deadline from Cleveland last season for first baseman Kyle Manzardo and joins a Brewers rotation beleaguered by injury, with young starters Robert Gasser and DL Hall as well as veteran Joe Ross on the 60-day injured list. While Civale has struggled since joining Tampa Bay, posting a 5.17 ERA over 27 starts, he adds a reliable starter to a Brewers team that has leaned on Freddy Peralta, Colin Rea, standout rookie Tobias Myers, and Bryse Wilson, who has split time as a starter and bulk-innings reliever following an opener. Civale is on pace to surpass his career-best innings total of 124⅓, having thrown 87 innings with a 5.07 ERA this season. He will reach free agency after the 2025 season. https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/stats/_/id/40934/aaron-civale
  5. He could make a lot of money with "speaking engagements" that may or may not actually happen. Probably already does that anyways.
  6. Excellent response by Biden to this decision. Maybe some of those "independents" will see it an realize the difference between the two options this November.
  7. This isn't a power struggle, it's a 2 year addition to his current contract, so 3 years in total guaranteed with the Cavs (35m, ~46m, ~50m). At that point, he will be eligible for more money with 10 years of service, which is a 5% increase in the max dollars he gets on his next contract in the 2027-28 season. He will be 31 at that point and looking for 4 more years at max with the Cavs to get the max potential value for himself. Great deal for the Cavs, they had to do this deal regardless. This should ensure those those Cavs picks owed to Utah are in the 20s, so Danny Ainge can go suck a fat one. Mobley is also eligible for an extension, and I'm not sure what they are going to do with him. He's an RFA next year, and if I'm the Cavs GM, I may just wait and see how he does next year. Not sure he's worth 40m a year or whatever max rookie extension is nowadays. Maybe another team works a S&T for him next year instead, and that lets them retool around the core.
  8. I'm not a lawyer, but wasn't the whole point of this going to the Supreme Court to decide whether the Jan 6 actions were covered by immunity? I think everyone can understand that some things the President does are official or personal. In this specific instance, is the President immune or not? I thought that was the question going in, was it not? Did they pull some dumb shit to not answer the question and waste more time?
  9. Just turned the game on, and pleased to see how it's going. Might even get that extra-innings record up to .500 by the end of July!
  10. Nice comeback win. I am pleased to see someone else's bullpen shit the bed instead of the Astros for once.
  11. 2 more insurance runs!
  12. I object! On what grounds?? Because it's extremely damaging to my case!!!
  13. 2 run game now, plenty of time for a comeback, blow the lead, comeback again and then shit the bed in extras!
  14. That one day of being .500 was great...
  15. A 50/40/90 player would be awesome, but I doubt this guy will ever get close to that efficiency. I forgot about the Summer League, it will be fun to see how bad Bronny James is compared to guys that belong in the NBA.
  16. Maybe they should have had some debates in the Democratic primary a few months ago? Might have been a better time for this debacle to occur. I know I know, incumbents don't need to debate within the party, etc etc, but that was hard to watch last night. Would have been much better coming from within the party to lessen the blows and focus on policy. I do wonder if Biden needs to dump Harris as VP and pick someone that may actually appeal to voters as a "President-in-Waiting." I have a hard time buying the idea that Biden will make it 4 full years before resigning, dying or having the 25th amendment invoked. The narrative from the right is going to shift soon to "Do you really want Kamala Harris to be President? Because that's what you're voting for with Biden" and I think that may appeal to some independents like the anti-Hillary sentiment in 2016. Sure she doesn't have the same baggage, but she's not a strong candidate in the first place. Newsome needs to be the backup plan for Biden. Let Biden make it 2+ years, then ride off into the sunset to let Gavin take over for the next 8 years after that, and maybe things can get back to normal as Alito and Thomas die out sometime during that administration.
  17. Feels like going up 1-0 in a 3 game series, eh?
  18. I agree. He's not just stuttering with answers, but also stumbling to answer. His age is absolutely obvious. Trump may be wrong in a lot of stuff he says, but you need someone sharp to reply and skewer a lying sack if shit like him.
  19. 7. I would do everything I can to steal Elaine, or let her use me in the airplane bathroom to make Puddy jealous.
  20. So slow, unathletic white guy. BUST!!! 🙄
